>> alan: good evening. there's word from the egyptian government that a missing google executive will be freed on monday. he was attending one of the early protests in cairo when he disappeared. he is thought to have hosted the first facebook page that organized the protest. egypt's prime minister told state tv that he will be released around 3:30 a.m. our

time. an egyptian executive is working to get him released. political dissidents have won another round. today the regime met with opposition groups it has spruced and agreed to lift political redistributions -- restrictions that have been in place for years. >> reporter: day 13 of demonstrations was festive. thousands pick up the call for president mubarak to quit. his government opened talks with the opposition, including the muslim brotherhood. and youth leaders who started the uprising. the vice-president promised to allow a free press. release demonstrators and to lift laws used to suppress human rights when security permits. speaking exclusively, omar

sewell suleiman asked for patience. >> all your demand all your requests, we are responding to, and we promise that we will do and we need quiet time to emme. these things. >> it's president mubarak who me mains the sticking point. >> he needs to assume political responsibility and step aside and get the done troy move on. >> protestors say they will park the square until mubarak resigns. >> we will destroy this general regime and continue here until we die. >> in a show of unity demonstrators carried a priest and an imam. but away from the scwairks square, there were long lines when banks opened. some here who want the government changed also want their lives back to normal.

>> alan: the unrest in egypt was inspired in part by protests last month in tunisia. this weekan tunisia is experiencing the most intense demonstrations since the country's ruler was exiled. officers at one station were previously accused of shooting and killing two demonstrators. tunisia's interior minister has suspended all activities of the former ruling party and intends to disband it. there were protests today in iraq to demand better utility services, and a crackdown on crime and corruption. >> the two of the three uc berkeley grads entered pleaed of guilty but little is known about what happened. i. >> there was a blanket ban on observers in the courtroom today. this hearing went on for 12 hours.

the fate of these hikers remains unknown. the june said there will be at least one more court session. the hearing was held behind closed doors. no one from the out was even allowed in not even america's only diplomatic representative in the country the swiss ambassador. he tried to meet with the grad but his requests were denied. >> spoke with them briefly but he was not able to meet with them prior to the session. >> a journalist has been working with the families of the hikers to free them from prison. he spoke with their lawyer. >> the lawyer said basically the case seems to be out of the control of the lawyer or the defendants. and it's all up to the judge, which is -- which has the reputation of being very close to the intelligence service.

bruno explosion. the marin independent journal reports pg&e has spent more than $4 million fighting a venture into electricity. they complain pg&e set up phone banks to convince electrical customers to opt out of their service and sent out bills making it appear that they were being double charged. pg&e denies any wrongdoing. in just the past two weeks, gas prices have shot up another 1.49 a gallon. a survey of fuel prices said the average national price of a gallon of regular is 3.12. as usual, san francisco has the highest priced gas in the nation at 3.35. the lowest was in memphis at 2.90. san francisco could have the nation's first drop-in center. a task force of doctors
