good evening, everyone. more than a week after his mysterious disappearance, a google executive is set to be freed by the government. he has emerged as a central figure in the anti-government protests and been cast by some as a hero in the battle for democracy. lilian kim talked to some of his friends and joined us. lilian? >> he is scheduled to be released at 6:00 a.m. pacific time. a huge relief for friends and family who haven't seen him in ten days. this is youtube video of what many believe was gonin being taken away. he had taken part in the mass protests in egypt in the beginning. he was last seen on january 27th. since then, friends and family have been urging wealthy and

powerful egyptians to exert pressure on them. he announced that the egyptian authorities promised him gonin would be freed on monday. we spoke to gonin's close friend over the phone. >> i am very excited. >> he has been trying to helpy jupt on the technology side. he is good and different and i really want him back. >> he is google's head of marketing for the middle east and north africa and played a key role in bringing inpho -- innovation and information to egypt. a former employee worked with him two years ago and is thrilled to hear of his impending released. >> i am hoping this means he is totally healthy and all

right which is not that sure would be the case. >> it is estimated 1300 people have been detained since it began. gonim's released will become a defining moment. when he is released he will become the living hero of this revolution. >> i can only imagine he will say, look, i went out there and put my life on the line, literally and now i'm back. so let's get going. >> hopeful leahy will be able to use it as a way to inspire people by not being afraid. >> it is unclear how the released will be handled. it is likely the government will bring him to his family and be escorted by his family. >> lilian kim with us. president obama said during an interview with fox news today that egypt is not going back to the way it was. >> what we said is make sure you get all of the groups together in in egypt and what is the process for an orderly transition and one that is a

meaningful transition. >> president obama down played prospects that the muslim brotherhood would take a major role in the new government. he says it is just one faction, and does not have majority support. the muslim brotherhood is a fundamental list that has been outlawed by 1954. egypt's vice president has been reaching out to the muslim brotherhood and other opposition groups to try and calm protesters. today he offered new concessions including freedom of the press. protesters say they are united in rejecting any form of the negotiations until mubarak steps down. in other news, two of the three uc berkeley grads detained in iran went before a judge. it has been 18 months since they were arrested after hiking near the iranian border. cecilia vega reports that very little is known about what happened in the courtroom. >> no one from the outside was allowed inside iran's

revolutionary court. the ban even left the swiss ambassador standing in the streets. she is america's only diplomatic representative in the country. 9 three hikers pled not guilty. sara shourd and her friends in person. >> the lawyer said the case seems to be out of the control of the lawyer or the defendants. and it is all up to the judge which has the reputation of being close to the intelligence service. >> he has been working about freeing them from the notorious prison. he spoke to the hiker's lawyer after the hearing. a lawyer whose repeated request to meet with the uc grads were denied. >> he was confused. it is over and over again. >> but supporters remain hopeful. he was one of the cal

oakland police say a missing woman turned up at the hospital. police are still questioning her, but they think they have a kidnapping case on their hands. witnesses told police two men chased down the unidentified woman, assaulted her and forced her into a car and drove off. it reportedly happened around 10:30 yesterday night in the 1000 block on eileen street, one block north of children's hospital. a muni rider captured a safety issue on video while riding a train. that passenger sent it to you report powered by youtube. it shows a woman sticking her head into the enclosed driver's area and the two engaging in conversation while the train is in motion. muni issued this response, quote, the action in the video displayed by the operator are not acceptable. we will bring the operator in for an interview and appropriate disciplinary

action will be taken. aol says it is buying the huffington post news website for $315 million. that deal will put co-founder ariana huffington in charge of all aol content. the post began in 2005 with a $1 million investment and it grew into one of the most heavily visited news sites in the country. the post claims to have 25 million visitors a day. ariana huffington will be named president and editor in chief overseeing all sites including map west and patch just to name a few. an official announcement is expected tomorrow morning. and in a strong sign for the economy, the ford motor company is ramping up production. high demand has the company increasing its factory production by 13% in the first quarter. sales to individual buyers reece -- rose 27% for vehicles like the ford explorer.

sales to big fleet buyers like the rental car companies rose 9%. company executives are optimistic that they will increase production even further throughout the year. well, today would have been ronald regan's 1 -- 100th birthday. nancy regan placed a wreath on his grave. she greeted hundreds on the lawn of the presidential library in simi valley. >> i know ronnie would be thrilled and is thrilled to have all of you share in his 100th birthday. cheering for their team in a san francisco north beach neighborhood. meanwhile, packer fans were packed out at swreek's diamond bar to root for their team who were the super bowl champions and before the game christina aguillera botched "the national anthem." she never stopped singing, but definitely forgot some of the words to "the star star-spangled banner." >> through the peril less fight. what so proudly we watched as the. >> what so proudly we watched? she was supposed to say and the ramparts we watched -- instead she tried to sing so proudly we hailed and botched that up too.

>> and yes, a lot of the entertainment comes during commercial time. among the many super bowl ads is for the volkswagen passat. more than 100 million people tuned in to see the game and the commercials that cost about $3 million for a 30-second spot. and today the super bowl turned out to be a huge disappointment for 400 fans who had tickets to see the game, but never actually saw it in person. that's because their temporary seats were not approved by the fire marshal. they were allowed only to watch on the monitors and will receive a refund that is triple the cost of the tickets. and a few hours you can see the super bowl play of the day in 3d on your smartphone.

and 43 for livermore. now, here is what you can expect. the high pressure has been over us bringing us the record highs over the weekend. as you notice, things are starting to change a bit. the highs slipping to the south and west of us. the jet stream is starting to sag to the south as well, and that is what is going to help to reverse those winds. remember, this weekend they have been offshore and a warm wind direction tonight and tomorrow. the sea breeze and cooler wind direction and onshore will be back with us. the temperatures will clear as much as 15 degrees in some locations and get ready for strong winds developing near the coast. here is a look at your highs for tomorrow. still quite mild for this time of year. 58% and 66 for redwood city. 67 degrees. san francisco is still mild at 65. but those winds out of the west will start to kick in late tomorrow afternoon. in the north bay, they were flirting with 70 and santa rosa 68. on the east bay oakland 66.
