search and rescue teams found the raft in concord nearly five miles from where two teenage boys started their rafting trip. 16-year-old matthew miller and 17-year-old gavin powell launched in walnut creek. it was supposed to be a two-hour journey, but the rain of h swollen waters were overwhelming, which in some spots reached depths of 15 feet. >> the creek swells and it is very fast moving. what is more dangerous was the debris in the water, branches, rocks, you can think of any kind of debris. it causes problems and obstructions. >> search and rescue teams found the bodies in concord. two hours later they found gavin's body a mile away from combine concord. both were wearing helmets, but no life preservers. residents who live along the creek have seen tragic outcome, and they even lobbied to have these danger signs

abc7 news. >> thank you, lilian. last april a car with three people inside went into that same creek. two people died in the rain-swollen waters, but a 56-year-old woman was rescued there. she crashed and landed upside down in the creek. a popular place for dog walkers and hang gliders had to be closed after a suspicious item washed up on the beach. as a precaution, they were closed while the bomb squad technicians detonated the device just before 2:00 this afternoon. it is now believed to have been a box of navy flares that may have fallen overboard and washed ashore. it was first reported around 10:00 this morning, and park rangers kept the area closed for several hours. a group of mourner usa tacked a tv news crew covering a murder story in sacramento today. the video we are about to show you is somewhat violent. >> it is public!
