bridge where it flipped over. the faa says the pilot lost power after taking off from the airport. they sent out a air boat out to rescue him. >> he landed in the mud and did a good job in doing because he appears he is non-injured. it appears to be leaking oil so we need to get it removed as quickly as possible. >> the man is a retired commercial pilot with about 30,000 hours of flight experience. san francisco police are investigating the shooting death of a man sitting in a car the potrero hill district. he was shot dakota street around 8:00. police cordoned off the area and another nearby car had bullet cars in it. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. his name has not been released. >> developing news in the mideast, few nearby shan prime

minister has announced his resignation following a renewed outrage of street violence in the country the last few days. he had pledged and stay and guide that country until elections could be held after the president fled the country last month. he had been a longtime ally of the few nearby shan president. germany says they have evacuated 130 people from libyan desert as they imposed sanctions against libya. the khadafy family is telling its side of the story. christiane ammanpour is only one of handful of journalists that were invited there. she saw a huge amount of refugees, most with little hope of getting a flight out.

tahoe valley airport is at 4 and yesterday they broke a record of minus 15 in the sierra. and higher elevations, of course will be cold and the highs there is at south lake only 32 degrees. emeryville, still sitting in the 30s. there is berkeley marina and the frost is melting but what a night the past couple of nights. if you are out earlier to scrape the frost off the windshield, 39 in napa. that is 12 degrees warmer than your overnight low. take a look at redwood city, 36 degrees. livermore valley, still quite cool, you were 28 degrees this morning. we will be looking at a warmup because already at this hour, we are five degrees warmer than we were yesterday in san rafael, san francisco, everybody a little bit warmer but we will look for temperatures to take a hit tomorrow when we see more clouds around. so enjoy the sunshine today. we'll see numbers back up in the 50s and more rain ries, just a

little bit of rain tomorrow and tuesday. it looks like everyone should get wet by wednesday. a weak area of high pressure allowing a sunny day all across the state. a welcome relief. waver not talking any big precipitation, monday and tuesday, just an overrunning system that will bring us light rain, tomorrow perhaps in the north bay but a deeper system sits in the sub tropics. that will be bringing higher snow levels come wednesday. the here is what it will look like when you wake up. cloudy skies, afternoon hours you begin to see rain. by 1:00, you'll see a little bit of rain, sonoma, napa and even marin county. that should do it. by tuesday, overnight, a little more rain heads further south. it's not until late tuesday into wednesday we're looking at that subtropical to be pointed right

welcome back everyone. san jose still considers all medical marijuana shops to be illegal, but that won't stop the city from inviting pot club operators to city hall tomorrow to discuss taxing their sales. our media partner reports that the city will slap a 7% tax on marijuana dispensaries starting on tuesday. it's a move that was approved by voters in november. san jose isn't the first bay area city to do so. oakland and berkeley raised their marijuana taxes in november. as for it being illegal, city leaders say the taxman must be paid regardless. >> this week, mount diablo school board will take up more budget cuts even after they

voted on school closures. they are asking the district to develop a budget plan as soon as governor brown's tax extensions fail. that would translate into a $350 loss per student in the district. the contra costa times reports the county wants the board to cut at another $300 for next year's budget. it adds up to $21 million for the district. hayward is many california cities looking to protect assets tied to redevelopment. they vote on tuesday to authorize immediate action to protect redevelopment funds. the state's threat to dismantle redevelopment aid refuses it's budget could affect $300 million worth of property and other city assets. that is according to the oakland tribune. hayward stands to lose nearly $4 million each year in funding projects, like revitalizing mission boulevard.

developing story, san francisco firefighters and coastguard crew have rescued a hiker that fell west of the golden gate bridge last night. he was airlifted to a ground ambulance crew after suffering a possible broken angle. he spent a cold night near the

water's edge. during the rescue operation a fighter suffered a leg injury, as well. it's a wonder he didn't get hypothermia, but certain lay chilly night. we saw upper 30s and 20s in north and east bay valleys. we're starting to recover, view from sutro camera, a few clouds out there. we're looking up the coast. it could be definitely a warmer afternoon, certainly not a huge warmup but at least numbers out of 40s and some mid-50s. so maybe sunniest day all week. it's 42 right you now in concord. 36 in livermore. 37 in san rafael and finally coming out of the low 40s. redwood city, still just 36 degrees. definitely a cold start out there. although we're warmer than we were this time yesterday by as much 5 degrees in the north bay and warmer in the south bay, as well.

trends in each category. it's been a successful police tool. >> i do believe that statistics tell us a good deal. that it is an opportunity that looks not only what is happening and react to them but take that on a long time. >> bric's computer will integrate that with realtime data. for example, following a series of armed robberies and several neighborhoods, bric computers will map out any previous pattern of robberies there. a description of the car and suspect and their trail to see if a pattern emerges. >> bric can send that information out to the other nine districts so everybody is on the same page as to the crime. >> eventually the goal is to integrate neighborhood and police departments into this operation to truly make this into a regional crime fighting center. >> don't go away. 7 on your side is next.

of gold today. it is oscar night. 83rd annual. we'll tell you more about that later on. it is here on abc7. if you are looking for a job you know you are likely to face a criminal background check before you get hired. what happens when the information that comes back is wrong? that is what happened to a vallejo man. here is michael finney with the story. >> he loves to work with cars, last year he graduated from an automotive college in sacramento. >> since the economy is bad i have been looking for. >> everything he applied to a job to work at security at this walmart in sacramento. after a third interview he says he was offered a position pending a background check. >> i felt good, i had the position looking to a job working for them. >> the background check was in his mailbox waiting for him after he returned from a funeral in los angeles.

opportunity to interview with walmart but applied at roseville hyundai but the same thing happened again but this time he knew what to do. he immediately filed a formal appeal with a background check company screening one. screening one ruled in patrick's favor and confirmed what we already knew, that he has no criminal record. >> don't get a job at walmart or hyundai because i've got something some n store for you. >> he has been working at starbucks for several weeks and says he loves it. under privacy laws, it's not allowed to use social security numbers when conducting background checks, they are limiting to match first and last names along with birth dates. roseville hyundai they got the updated report and will offer patrick a job.
