satellite phone or computer every a die. >> corpsman joe burns is 20 years old today. when he was deployed to afghanistan, he was deployed with his unit, and many of them were suffering from the flu and there wasn't enough medicine. joe burns spent his own money to buy enough medicine to treat his men, and because of his actions and his wound, jacky speier will be reading his name in the congressional record next week. >> alan: pg&e has launched an exhaustive around the clock search for every document related to the pipeline system. 300 fulltime workers are sifting through thousands of books of paperwork, some dating back to the 1920s. the public utilities commission issued the order after the pipeline explosion that killed eight people and destroyed 38

homes. workers are sorting at several locations, including this one at the cow palace. they have a deadline of march 15th. >> we are busy collecting, scanning and indexing an estimated 1 11 -- 1.25 million records and putting them in an electronic database. >> alan: a preliminary report on the explosion uncovered a poorly welded seam along the main pipe that failed. a final report is expected in six months. >> carbon monoxide poisoning as a san francisco apartment building sent two people to the hospital today. the building owner and a resident were taken to the hospital, and firefighters evacuated the complex. firefighters say they were both conscious and able to talk to paramedics. officials say the carbon monoxide buildup was caused by a gas heater's malfunctioning flue

used to vent carbon monoxide. >> well, police are -- the contra costa county sheriff's department says one of its officers has been arrested in connection with the state investigation into stolen drug evidence. the sheriff's department says 47-year-old steven tanabi was arrested for possession of and transfer of an assault rifle along with conspiracy to possess and sell drugs. his arrest follows the arrest of drug task force commander norman welsh and private investigator christopher butler. on monday, welsh pleaded not guilty to charges he stole drugs. police are asking for the public's help in catching a group of suspects they say assaulted and robbed a man at the redwood city cal train station. investigators say a group of nine to 15 suspects carried out a strong-arm robbery of a

47-year-old san jose resident while he was waiting for a southbound caltrain. suspects fled before police arrived. but investigators are following up on potential leads from witnesses. anyone with information should contact the san mateo county transit police. escalating gang wars have the guardian angels increasing patrol in san francisco's mission district. there were three shootings last weekend. in this incident last sunday marks was a man was shot while sitting in a car the police believe as a rivalry between two gangs. the guardian angelled will be on the streets from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and will arrest anyone who breaks the law. in an effort to improve hygiene, b.a.r.t. is considering replacing its cushion covered seats with easier to clean hard surface chairs. this comes after numerous complaints about dirty seat
