this morning. fire crews decided to let the building burn because of hazardous chemicals stored inside. two parked cars in a the shop were destroyed. one parked fire truck was also damaged. east bay park officials say the fire is sill burning at this hour so investigators haven't had a chance to look inside. there are no reports of injuries fortunately. >> more wet weather is on the way. yesterday's storm packed a punch. we spotted at least six lightning strikes in a 15 minute span from mount sutro cam. lightning reported in pacifica and san rafael. leagues slees here to tell us what is no store. >> behind the system right now and we are poised to get very wet, very windy conditions tonight. right now we are looking at the heaviest rain in the north bay, the central bay, but beginning to fill in all across the bay area. it's going to be wet afternoon today and wet morning. look at the rain-snow mix around

cobb mountain. we've got heavy rain headed toward hercules pulling out of san pablo and about to push through benicia and off the coast of the peninsula you are going to get wet in san francisco as well as redwood city and 280 pushing across into the east bay, heavier downpours in the santa cruz mountains. this is ahead of a very strong system that is going to move in late tonight and wind up by this time tomorrow. we'll talk about that more in detail in just a few minutes. >> the thunderstorm that knocked that east bay power out delivered more than thunder and lightning. there was hail coming down in albany. this video was shot at the target store parking lot. it was pea size and not like will go li to cause any damage. also alpine road and yuba way was a heavy downpour.

robert desoto says it was quite a spectacular in his neighborhood. >> it was big lightning flashings, it was fantastic. i see this hail coming down and i step outside, i thought it's snowing on the ground but chunks of ice. >> it was very strong updraft and down draft and ice particles get tossed up and down and getting bigger with each cycle eventually following to the ground. >> high surf continues along the coast and the stormy weather is having an impact on fresh fish and crab. lisa amin gulezian has that part. >> in half moon bay, waves crashed along the break wall and they prepared themselves for this storm hours ago. many doubled up on their lines to help tie down their boat. the concern is this. >> after the tornado touched down. >> it was actually a water spot

just off ocean beach in san francisco. it was caught on video by a viewer and sent to u reports powered by youtube but if the twister had happened over land it would have been called in tornado. in half moon bay, swells are expected to reach 12 feet prompting a small craft advisory. many local fishing boats are not going out to sea which is having an impact on seafood retailers on half moon bay's fish marketed. >> asking if you have any local halibut and i tell them we don't have any because of the weather. >> they are sold out of halibut and rockfish and crab supply is low. >> any idea of the loss? >> probably 30%. >> in santa cruz the bad weather isn't just having an economic on the impact on the harbor which has been closed for a full week. a cleanup efforts, divers were forced to suspend operations until further notice.

fears. >> the impact of the radiation scare could last a decade a growing crisis, workers swarmed over the crippled plant. reactor number three trying to cool it and reactor three and four believed to be most at risk. of complete meltdown. dangers spent fuel rods heating up and attached an electrical cable to the mountain. you doubts remain whether some of the cooling pumps were too damaged in the quake and tsunami to work. if the reactors continue to overheat the results could be catastrophic. >> on friday brave firefighters departed friday for the plant knowing full well they could be on suicide plant mission. some of the workers that were able to escape are now telling their stories. this man was outside the plant when the quake hit.

get ready for a soggy and windy weekend. here is lisa argen. >> the next 12 hours we'll continue to see the rain pick up but it's going to be offshore by 8:00 tonight, poised to move onshore overnight. rain around the bay area and it continues to fall from the north bay, central bay and the south bay. this is the light to moderate rain but we are also looking at heavy showers embedded with a few thunderstorms around the bay area. so it is a soggy start to your weekend. we're looking at a powerful storm offshore.

live doppler 7 hd shows a lot of rainfall out there this morning. let's take you in closer where the cold air has moved in since you were sleeping. a rain-snow mix, cobb mountain, take a look at the downpours here in central and southern marin counties from larkspur to san rafael. tiburon moving eastward into richmond. watch out hercules, berkeley getting light rain and look at the heavier showers on the peninsula moving just about cross 280 shortly into redwood city and possess ka dare oh as heavy rain. in the south bay, from around mount hamilton, you are looking at rain-snow mix and more embedded strong storms offshore. we are looking at the main event still about 12 hours away. 50 in half moon boy. 40 in livermore and here are our highlights.

scattered showers, chance of a thunderstorm after the morning hours. the snow level has lowered down to 3,000 feet and storm coming in offshore around 8:00 tonight moving across the heart of the bay area from around midnight to 3:00 a.m. high winds and winds will continue to gust offshore. around 8:00 tonight they will push along the coast. if you've got plans to go out tonight. be very careful. we're going foe see the rain push into the north bay, with this system we have subtropical moisture and that is why we're looking at very heavy rainfall amounts. 9:00 this morning, notice the scattering of the showers and take you through the rest of the afternoon and look how the rain continues to fill in, by 3:00 we've got some heavier downpours in sonoma county but by the dinner hour and 8:00, look at the north bay. we've got the cold front sitting offshore and by midnight to 2:00

a.m. we've got even heavier rain that is poised to sweep on through here while you are sleeping, probably wake up with gusty wind and then by 7:00 tomorrow morning, we're getting into the back side of it. the rest of sunday a chance to clean up not so bad. we'll see a few peeks of sun but more rain on monday. two and a half to three inches with two and a half inches in the south bay couple more inches in the mountains and then we've got up to hundred mile-an-hour wind gusts there. low to mid-50s today with more scattered showers, winds pick up later on this evening and then a look ahead, we're not out of the woods yet. it's spring next week, more heavy rain wednesday and thursday. so we'll be watching it for you. but we are so frustrated already it could be easy for power lines and trees to fall with those gusty winds. >> and local flooding if you are

surge that hit there a week ago. right now the hunt is on for debris that could damage once it's does reopen. karina rusk reports. >> they have a diver's view of santa cruz harbor heat spotted one of two boats that still needed to be hauled off the harbor floor. >> there is no motor so it's not a pollution hazard. >> they have high-tech help when it comes to looking for debris that could be a navigation hazard. these are side scan sonar images. they come from equipment mounted on a noaa boat that did an underwater survey of the harbor. >> we can see 70 feet, we can almost see bank to bank the whole way up. >> the sonar images paint an instant picture of known and unknown objects. >> they think it could be the

calm before the next storm. >> we have pretty good rain around the bay area. it's continuing to fill in and even hail and heavy downpours. a live look at lake tahoe where the winter storm warning has expired. winter storm watch is in effect and all these will be shutting down in the next day or so. the wind gusts of over hundred miles an hour. that is on the way and right now we are looking at rain across san francisco, take a look at this shot. that has changed. active start to your saturday. scenarios of yellow and red embedded across the central bay. cold air has filled in overnight. rain-and-snow mix around lake county, cobb mountain, lake port further south, you've got a very strong cell headed your way up towards the delta. back southwesterly, heavy rain around southern marin county.

that is going to pull out across the bay. watch out san pablo and richmond within the next 15-20 minutes. berkeley, heavier downpours. san francisco, belmont, 280, here is a pretty strong cell here, going to be pushing across the bay and further south we're looking at the santa cruz mountains which will be particularly hard hit within the next 12-18 hours. more rain offshore, this is all out ahead of a stronger storm system that sits about 12 to 18 hours away from the bay area. 46 in mountain view. 47 in san jose and the rain has been very widely scattered in the south bay, but everywhere is going to see very heavy rain. today still a chance of a thunderstorm right on through the evening hours. snow lems have lowered and the storm has increased in its speed a little bit. if you were watching last night, we had expected it to move in tomorrow morning and more

monday night. temperatures today in the 50s, rain, some thunderstorms, breezy winds overnight and we should have the worst of this between midnight and about 5:00 a.m. tomorrow and then another big system headed our way next wednesday into thursday. >> it's going to be a stormy night. my friend e-mailed she couldn't sleep last night because of all the hail down in san mateo county. an oakland wildlife center has found a new home and they are racing against the clock to get it ready. some of our viewers have come through with help from the center that kids for orphaned and injured animals. but as dan ashley says, they still need more help. >> the wildlife center has been rescuing animals for the pass ten years. it's the only rescue center of its kind in the oakland, berkeley and alameda area, last resort for wild animals who have

been hit by cars, attacked by dogs or lost their mothers. as we fold told you last summer the animals are being evicted because the landlord has other plans. volunteers searched desperately for another new home and they are finally getting one. >> the first shed will be the infirmary to keep animals in cages and after they are stabilized. >> this the beginning of the new wildlife center. on a private lot just a few blocks from the old center in the oakland hills. the labor is all volunteer. >> we are building an containment area for baby squirrels who come in. >> money came from and $15,000 from donations from people that learned from the center's plight from the media. >> i can get up close with the animals and have an impact wildlife enriches us all. >> cofounder and director of the center, volunteered as many as 70 hours a week herself. she is thrilled by the public response. >> just an incredible thank you

to the community, we're coming forward just helps. >> there is a lot to be done. >> it's very tricky because we can't throw everything into a truck and move over. we've got animals that we need to move. in order to do that we need to have a place secure for them at the new location. >> the center second-degree pressure on move as fast as possible. indoor part of the facility is well underway but outside they need to build large pens on a steep hillside. a natural feeling enclosure is critical for animals that will be eventually released back in the wild. >> unfortunately we've run out of funding and we're going to have start a new campaign to raise funds and find skilled construction workers who can help with us that stage of the project. >> in the meantime, nature is not waiting for moving day. >> babies are being born right now. >> these are the orphans, some of the first new spring babies that need help this year. wildlife center has never turned away an injured or orphaned
