goof good morning, i'm carolyn tyler. in oakland this morning, investigators are trying to determine the cause of a huge residential fire this morning. flames shot high into the sky as an old boarded up victorian burned on 32nd street and martin luther king way. it destroyed the three-story building. firefighters doused the flames. about 45 minutes later it was put out. no victims were found during a search of the building. >> senator barbara boxer is offering a plan to keep gas prices from soaring due to wall street speculation. in los angeles, she announced the plan to take away some of

the profits that speculators make by bidding up the price of oil. tomas ramon has more on politics at the pump. >> the bottom line is profit. >> she gassing up at 4.40. in d.c. is where president obama in his weekly address called for an end in the $4 billion in tax subsidies now given to oil and gas companies. >> when oil companies are making huge profits already, we're scouring the federal budget for spending we can afford do without, these tax giveaways are not right. we need to end them. >> exxon reported almost $11 billion in profits in the first four months of this year. barbara boxer slammed oil speculators blaming them for the inflated cost of gas at the pump. >> speculation adds to between $21 a barrel.

that is the fifth of the cost. >> she says the rules need to change. >> so by cracking down on speculators, you can't just put down, $35 on a hundred dollars, you got to put down 50% in order to make this bet. >> he is vice president of the california gop and he says blaming speculators is wrong. >> speculators exist in all markets. it's itself obama's failed policies that is the problem here, not the market. >> she says she doesn't know anything at all about the political gun play? >> i don't know the direct cause. i just thought it was related to all the chaos around the world. >> republicans blame oh obama's policies. >> it's double the price because obama shut down gulf oil and his policies at the epa are driving up the price. >> analysts say high gas prices

are affecting the country's economic growth and his approval ratings. republicans say the solution to all this is to drill more wells. in san francisco, i'm tomas ramon, "abc 7 news." >> and all over the bay area, gas prices are inching up. the average price in san francisco is now $4.30 a gallon. that is still 32 cents from the all time high. the price 4.26 in san jose and oakland, 4.25, a penny higher in three locations just since friday. >> after much debate, one of those trendy food trucks begin operating in the dolores park this weekend. they seem to like mobile food vendors but some neighbors and vendors not so much. >> it's got a catchy name, dock of the bay and serves burgers in emeryville but getting a foothold in san francisco is a challenge.

ago. amtrak officials say a pedestrian was trespassing on the tracks amp was struck by a train. it was traveling from oakland to san jose. amtrak passengers on that section of the capital corridor route are bees bussed to the hayward station. that is where train service will resume. governor jerry brown will skip a scheduled appearance at the state democratic convention today after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his nose. he had the procedure on friday after tests revealed a slow growth of cancer. his doctors say all cancer cells were removed but some reconstructive surgery was need order his nose. the governor's office says he won't make any public appearances until the stipulates of removed which should be in the next week. basal cell carcinoma is the least dangerous of skin cancer.

climbing into the 60s at our coast, 70s and san francisco 74 degrees. 73 in south city. in the north bay, northerly winds really warming things up with 80 in santa rosa. numbers will warm quickly throughout the rest of morning hours for an afternoon high around 3:00, 76 in union city and 77 in fremont. widespread 70s to solt's and 59 mile-an-hour wind gusts around mount diablo, today around 20 mile-an-hour range so we'll look for the warming temperatures right at the coast, monterey, 70 and 80 in watsonville. here is wait the week is shaping you. we've got our warmup with lighter winds and then perhaps fog tomorrow, a slight dip, everybody cools off a couple of degrees. we rebound quickly on tuesday.
