>> reporter: it's a very complicated story. one that may end up being the end of a very tragic domestic dispute. we can confirm that three people are dead, all three died from gunshot wounds according to fairfield police. now, according to a sergeant, the entire incident came about after some kind of civil papers were served on someone in this house on 5245 venus drive. this afternoon, a 911 call came in, shots fired on the 5200 block of venus. residents say it's a normally very quiet area and many people were in the street when they heard the gun shots. fairfield police responded in force, believing that it was an active shooting in progress. the sergeant told us what happened after officers arrived on scene. >> when officers entered the residence, they determined that there were two that were shot and ultimately were later determined to be deceased. there was one that was shot with a critical wound.

that person was transported by air ambulance to an area trauma center. >> older gentleman, who was being taken care of by this time. and his ex-wife and a roommate and possibly her boyfriend. >> the kids were out here and some were getting shot and they're not used to this. >> reporter: neighbors have confirmed five people live in that house. the elderly man is being cared for by his son. his son's ex-wife, the ex-wife's boyfriend, and a roommate. we have confirmed the elderly man is okay. the boyfriend was taken away by police in handcuffs and with nonlife-threatening injuries. the individual who was life flighted out, subsequently died of self-inflicted gunshot wound at the trauma center. we also know that -- excuse me. the police are still investigating the incident. they don't really know exactly

what started the shooting or who started the shooting. we're going to get an update in about another 15 minutes. as just an aside, an elderly man who tried to direct police when they arrived on scene and sell them what was going on was tased because police didn't know exactly what he was doing or why. so police have subsequently apologized for that. we'll have more as we get details. live in fairfield, abc 7 news. >> okay. thank you. for years, the world only saw osama bin laden in rare propaganda videos portrayed as a strong and charismatic leader. today the world saw another side. the u.s. released a handful of videos that show bin laden in a more candid, unflattering light. here is david. >> reporter: these images released by the u.s. government show osama bin laden in hiding and off guard, possibly in the heavily fortified compound where he died. the most telling clip, this one. the terrorist leader watching a television program about himself.

the camera pulls out, revealing the al-qaeda leader huddled in a blanket with a remote control in his hand changing channels. his beard is gray. at one point he orders the camera operator to focus on the tv set, showing him with the rifle. but when bin laden tape has propaganda message, his beard is dyed black. a senior intelligence official say he was interested in his own image. other clips show him rehearsing. the government cut all the sound from the tapes for security reasons. these videos were among many items seized by the seal team sunday when they cornered him in his bedroom and shot him dead. an entire task force has been working overtime to mine the bonanza. they reveal, they say, that he was still acting as a ceo of terror. >> senior intelligence official said they were the single largest collection of terrorist items gathered and show he was

more than just a figurehead, but actively involved in al-qaeda's operations. >> reporter: the captured files show al-qaeda plotting attacks on u.s. infrastructure targets such has mass transportation and water supplies where past al-qaeda plans have included blowing up dams and poisoning drinking water. plans that no longer include osama bin laden. abc news, washington. >> while the death of osama bin laden has brought a lot of relief to many americans, the mood for many others is intensifying. abc 7's lisa is here with a look at how military members and their families are dealing with it. lisa? >> reporter: military families are worried and word from their loved ones on the ground in the middle east is that tension is high. early mother's day brunch is all about vincent. he's not here with his family today. the 22-year-old soldier is in afghanistan.

>> my son's a stone's throw from pakistan. those who have troops and loved ones over there, it is very serious times. >> reporter: u.s. forces are stepping up the patrols in afghanistan. today the taliban unleashed a major assault on kandahar, in a move to regain control of the city. afghanistan's president believes the attack was to avenge bin laden's death. though the taliban denies it as a motive, specialist wall done's grandfather, a world war ii vet, doesn't buy it. >> it's worst now than ever will be because i think they're awfully mad at us. >> reporter: u.s. troops do have some supporters on the ground in afghanistan. just yesterday, the specialist called his mom to tell her a high ranking afghan government official had only positive things to say about bin laden's death. >> he was congratulating on an incident around al-qaeda. so i'm honored that he would take the time to congratulate

us. >> i think the morale is up today. >> national security specialist patrick, says the high from bin laden's killing will last only so long because the terror network didn't die with the al-qaeda leader. >> there are local versions of this terror network and they have leaders and that's that horrible feeling that you killed the hydra, but there are other heads. >> the first wave of u.s. troops will leave afghanistan in july. alan? >> thank you. in san jose, there was a shooting that killed two men and sent a teenage boy to the hospital this morning. police say the shooting happened inside a home in the 3400 block of mount prieta drive around 5:00 a.m. two 31-year-old men were pronounced dead at the scene. the extent of the 17-year-old boy's injuries are unknown. so far there is no word on any suspects or motive.

in san leandro, parents walked in solidarity to remember the children they've lost to violence. cheryl jennings joins the founder of 1,000 mothers to prevent violence for the group's second annual peace walk. the organization encourages victims' families and the survivors of violence to find counseling and other positive ways to deal with their losses. the board of supervisors declared today 1,000 mourning mother's day. >> so much more ahead, including the launch of a new satellite created here in the bay area. we'll tell you about its importance to national security. and a happy ending in the saga of a stolen musical instrument. a bay area woman reunited with her valuable property. >> a cool and breezy day today. we're looking live outside. you see the coastal clouds moving in. temperatures coming down for mother's day. all the details and your

take a look at this. today's high winds may have been partly responsible for uprooting a 40-foot tree in san francisco's park. it took out a light pole and damaged a few cars this afternoon. fire and police crews were called to the scene. no one was hurt. california won't have a drought this summer because of all the snow that fell on the sierras this winter. but it will make swimming and river rafting a lot more dangerous. this year's snow pack measured

144% greater than normal. all that snow started melting, swelling mountain streams and rivers with plenty of water, which means the water will run faster and it will be colder than it has been in recent drought years. all right. frances in for lee. it is windy out there. >> it's windy and we might even get a little bit more water tomorrow, believe it or not. there is a slight chance there is showers. but nothing to worry about too much. we'll go outside and show you how it looks right now. we have some clouds moving in. say good-bye to those blue skies because we're going to see more clouds overnight develop as a cold front moves in. this is live from our hd roof camera looking over toward bay bridge. and the bay right now, panning to the right, temperatures starting to come down. in san francisco it's 56. we're seeing some 50s around the bay. still hanging on to 72 in santa rosa. and 65 in san jose. and it has been windy out there

today. check out the gusts right now. from the west at about 31 miles per hour. pretty windy here as well. fairfield at 31. this afternoon, we actually got windy conditions up to 40 miles an hour. if you're headed to the giants game tonight, bundle up because even though temperatures will be in the mid 50s, dropping to the low 50s by the time the game gets out, it will be so breezy, that it will feel more like the 40s. so bundle up if you are enjoying the game. mostly cloudy conditions this evening into tomorrow. that means cool for tomorrow, mother's day. more windy conditions as well. a very slight chance of showers. we're talking about 10%. i'll show you where we are picking it up in the model. so we have this cold front, the tail end that will sweep through tomorrow morning. this is going to bring us that cool air and again, those breezy

conditions and onshore flow with temperatures coming down even a little bit more tomorrow. here is our forecast animation model. at 8:00 o'clock, looks like we might get a little bit of light showers through san rafael and across the bridge. maybe the hills east of san jose. but that's about it. once the afternoon wears on, we'll see some clouds throughout the bay area and windy conditions, but really looks like less likely chance of some of those showers. so still going to add a little to our rainfall, but not too much. however, give yourself extra time if you are traveling to and from the sierra because there is a winter weather advisory in effect starting tomorrow morning until monday, 5:00 a.m. we're talking one to two inches of snow. not a big storm, but again, travel delays are possible. overnight lows tonight, again on the cool side. cloudy conditions. upper 40s for the most part through san francisco. maybe some 50s in oakland. san mateo and palo alto.

tomorrow, look for the low temperatures, well below normal, only in the low 60s around the bay. even some upper 50s in san francisco and san mateo. south to morgan hill, also a narrow band of temperatures, mainly low 60s. again, those breezy conditions with winds from the west at 30 miles an hour. keep that in mind, especially in the afternoon. it will even actually feel cooler than the low 60s. and then, okay, gets better midweek after mother's day. we'll see sunshine, then a little cooling again at the end of the week. >> thank you very much. let's talk to shue. it was the run for the roses today. >> that's right. churchill downs, 137th running of the kentucky derby, the most exciting two minutes in sports. picture perfect day in louisville, kentucky. my hometown. and the hats on derby day making those at last week's royal wedding look tame. as for the race itself, 19 horses would leave the gate after uncle mo had to withdraw yesterday. a clean start and now the animal

two outs outs in the 9th. ends it, the seventh one in tiger history. detroit wins it 9-0. the sharks can close out the redwings in the semifinals, leading the best of seven series. redwings stayed alive with friday night 4-3 victory after one was slipped through with a minute and 27 left in regulation. sharks need to close the series out on sunday night because if they go back to detroit, you never know what could happen. >> this is what it's all about. you can't question the skill level between the final teams. they're equal. >> we got skill and i think tomorrow you'll see a better game from us. >> all right. to the hardwood game three, the
