>> it's great because the air is clean and good for running. >> reporter: now, the street closures did start around 4:00 this afternoon, between fulsom and howard. more closures behind in the downtown area, specifically around mission street. i'll give you some closures right now to make sure you don't get caught. howard will be closed between embarcadero and fremont. stewart will be closed between commission the southerly term news. spear between mission and fulsom and beale between mission and howard. all those streets will be closed beginning at 9:00. so if you're going to be coming to the downtown area, be sure take that into account. reporting live, abc-7 news. >> alan: it's likely to be wet and cold during the bay-to-breakers race, a spring storm is moving into the bay area, and, leigh, i don't think it's going to be very comfortable for the naked

rescuers reached him. the chp kept the highway closed while they brought the car up on the road. the bay area native who died in a late-night boating accident in virginia, and officials released the nine one one recording of a surviveon who managed to swim to shore. >> went on a sailboat down the river, and the boat sank. >> alan: the accident happened thursday night on the james river. ten people, all affiliated with nasas a rearch center, were on the sailboat when is capsized. tyler lorenzo was killed, he was identified as a native of mill valley. other man is missing. eight others survived by clinging to debris in water and five of. the swam to shore. >> clearly a very harrowing experience for them, being trapped in the middle of the

prices, topping $4 a gallon. an oil industry group places the decision as a first step with, quote, couple of positive nuggets. nasa's space shuttle endeavour has been given the green light to take off on monday. mission managers approved endeavour's final voyage today after the shuttle's original launch date was scrubbed due to an electrical problem. endeavour will fly to the space station under the command of astronaut mark kelly, the husband of congresswoman gabrielle giffords. she will be at cape can and a half rel on monday for the launch. the odds0s acceptable weather are 70%. >> the department of defense is going to geoff a -- give a review of the "associated press" requested for pictures of osama bin laden body. they said the ap did not tellman

through 12 next fall to have proof they were vaccinated before they can attend school. there were now immuneization requirements at the middle or high school level until now. the rates rl flow california. the city of richmond hosted an event today to get more kid pedaling around on two wheels. the bike fiesta took place at lincoln elementary school, volunteers gave away helmets and taught kids how to fix their bikes and honored major taylor, an african-american bicyclist in the late 1800s, who broke several world records and won the one-mile world championship in 1899. >> richmond is a community majority of color so it's wonderful to have a hero that looks like these children, and really be able to inspire them

to bicycle more, and to really have an inspiration that they can overcome obstacles. >> alan: organizers hope it helps promote healthy living and life long enjoyment of bicycling and physical fitness. let's talk to leigh glaser. i'm wearing my heavy wool suit because i'm trying to stay warm in this weather. >> leigh: you're right. unseasonably cool for the bay area, and unseasonably -- well, something we don't see a lot of this time of year is a very active live doppler 7hd. this is the storm system that's going to move in overnight, bringing us rain, colder air mass, and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. just in the last hour we've been noticing a little activity developing just off our coast here. so, while some parts of the bay area right now the sun is out, you can see what is going to be moving in, in the next couple of hours. it's 60 in antioch. 62 in wedwood -- redwood city.

57 for napa, and 58 in san jose. look for the showers to arrive overnight. a chance of isolated thunderstorms. we'll see the same thing tomorrow, and most of the shower activity should be in the morning hours. a break sunday night and more rain as we head into monday night and tuesday. we're looking at right here, this is the break right there we're in. you can see the trough of low pressure, very cold are mass behind it, and that's going to move in here tomorrow night and 7:00 tonight represents the rain already gathering off the coast. as we move inland tonight, by 11:00, we'll be in the thick of the rain. could be heavy at time. colder air could trigger isolated thunderstorms. just in time for bay-to-breakers, a mixture of clouds and scattered showers and, and possibility of an isolated thunderstorm. tomorrow afternoon, most with

we had an outpouring of-- of support. i wanted to do something bigger than myself. the 60 miles-- it makes a statement. i know i'm stronger than i was before, both mentally and physically. i walk with my sister. our relationship has gone to a whole new level because of training together. you meet the most wonderful, inspiring people. i knew that there was something really special about this event. when you accomplish those 60 miles, it's truly life-changing. it was three days of hope. of love. of empowerment. it was three days the way the world should be. here i am, second year in a row, and i'm already signed up for next year's. >> alan: hundreds packed the heart of san francisco's north beach to watch some of the best yo-yo masters. contestant competed for top honors in the triple crown yo-yo contest series in washington square. the contest featured lessons from beginners and loaner yo-yos so other people could practice.
