prevent seizures. last week the 42-year-old was transferred to san francisco general hospital where brain trauma specialists have been treating him. there has been a $200,000 reward leading to suspects in the case. about 2 hours ago, one person was taken into custody in los angeles. we will have more information on this morning's breaking news as it becomes available. fairfield police are asking for help this morning in finding three young children who have not been seen since noon yesterday. photos of ten-year-old trinity richardson and two others are now being distributed on a police bulletin. they were last seen in a children's park on kentucky street in fairfield theib with the mother christina lopez believed to be a transient that frequencies fairfield and

vacaville. today is her birthday and police are hoping she is just trying to spend time with their kids. they normally with their grandmother. if you see them you are to contact fairfield police. >> first investigators in livermore are trying to determine what caused an explosion that severely burned three people inside an apartment. it happened around 5:15 yesterday on silver oaks way in downtown livermore. firefighters found all three victims outside conscious but burned beyond recognition. as of last night police are still not confirmed their identities. they they say two men and one woman in their 20s were airlifted to regional trauma centers in san jose and sacramento. neighbors say the explosion rocked the entire building. >> i went over there and people laying on the ground screaming. there was quite a bit of damage to the building. just looking out the back windows, you can see all the

windows have been blown out of their apartment. >> firefighters were able to put the fire out within 20 minutes but the area remains taped off at the crime scene with police and fire investigators calling it suspicious. governor jerry brown has declared today harvey milk day. statewide commemoration. it would have been his 81st birthday today. the store will open as a suicide crisis center. it will operate as a center for a trevor project providing crisis intervention for gay lesbian, bisexual and transgender problems. milk used the store as his headquarters. >> minnesota will decide on constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. late yesterday minnesota lawmakers voted 70-62 to put the amendment on the november 2012

ballot. the state already has a law prohibiting same-sex marriage but supporters say it needs to be written and cot constitution to prevent judges from tampering in it. opponents includes the governor who call it discriminatory. >> a masked man is on the loose after stealing $10,000 in cash. he robbed a precious metals store in mill valley. the robber wearing a black mask and white surgical gloves pulled a gun and demanded cash. >> the business was open at the time. the suspect came in the business with his handgun i'm assuming demanded money. there is no audio but only video. that is all we can talk about. >> officers and sheriff's deputies searched the area for two hours to find the man. the store's surveillance camera

might help identify him. >> pg&e plans to start testing again tomorrow. people in san bruno are being warned they may smell natural gas during the testing. state ordered the pipeline test in response to last september's san bruno tragedy. a gas line explosion killed 8 people and destroyed 38 homes. testing began two weeks ago in mountain view. last week pg&e had to retest the line in antioch after getting slightly different readings. the pipeline tests are conducted only after the natural has been removed from the line. >> president obama has wrapped up a speech at annual conference of the nation's pro imminent israel lobby. president obama spoke for nearly 30 minutes at american israel public affairs committee conference in washington. on thursday he called for israel to withdraw to its 1967 borders

the shuttle astronauts just finished the second of four spacewalks but they hit a major snag. they wound up taking longer than planned. the problems began when a veteran spacewalker lost a bolt then other bolts started popping off uncan expectly. they spent an lour and a half longer than planned. three of the covers got installed okay but a fourth cover had to be brought back inside due to the missing bolt. >> this man iceland's international airport is closed because of a volcanic interruption. good news the ash plume is blowing towards greenland and

here the satellite and radar pictures. a series of disturbances knock this ridge down providing the showers in the sierra nevada and bay area a stronger sea breeze. holding on to the ridge of high pressure but with it the winds are going to pick up so you'll feel it throughout the afternoon if you are spending time ttd our coast. but 68 in los angeles 87 in vegas and showers in the northern sierra. here is the system on wednesday. it gets close and bringing a chance of shower as far as south as monterey. after that high pressure is going to build on in and we can begin to warm up more significantly. today we're bhoog looking at 66 in sunnyvale. on the peninsula mid and upper 50s. look familiar, doesn't it? winds gusting from 20-30 miles an hour. 67 in redwood city. san francisco coming in at 63.

average high is 68. north bay should be warming to 81. 71 cooler than yesterday. so the north winds are backing off. getting more of a north-northwest wind and the east bay cools and 70 in danville. down by the monterey bay gusty winds, 60 a there. if you spending any time in the city at the giants game you'll notice the partly cloudy sky and breezy winds upper 50s to low 60s. low 70s east bay south bay warmest inland spots and then look for a bit of a dip coastal clouds around tomorrow. breezy afternoon and tuesday looks the warmer day and by the end of next week everything should be warmer. >> that is memorial day weekend so we would like that. thank you lisa. >> let's check out sports. this afternoon the san jose sharks will try to even their western conference finals series with the vancouver canucks.

los angeles police have arrested one of suspects. s.w.a.t. team did he vend send order an east hollywood apartment building at 7:00 this morning with guns drawn. they confirm one of several men removed from the apartment is a suspect in the case, but they have not released his name. neighbors say the man had a bald head and tattoos on his neck and arms that appears to match one of sketches released by police. detectives have been looking at two suspects during the opening day on march 31. stow suffered a life-threatening brain injury and had to be put in a medically induce coma. the victim was transferred to san francisco general hospital from usc where brain trauma specialists are treating him. there has been a $200,000 reward leading to the arrest of suspects in the case and again about two hours ago two and a half hours ago one person was taken into custody.

we will have more information on this morning's breaking developments as it becomes available. thousands of bay area college graduates are facing challenging times. next month they hit the work force or try to in the outlook for new jobs is grim. alan wang has disappointing statistics they are facing but also a few encouraging signs. >> i am looking for a job in the health care field administration aspect of the field. >> when daven graduate west side a degree in health care sciences from cal state east bay he'll be facing tough statistics. a poll shows salaries are down and just over half of the grads are being hired. they are also having a harder time to pay off student loans. >> i even have friends right now that are working at minimum wage jobs when they have two degrees. >> the competition for jobs is fierce. >> they are looking for students

who are good communicators they are looking for students who have some experience. we think internships count for a great deal. >> more students are contemplating a back-up plan. >> maybe doing military work. >> the situation here reflects the overall national picture for job prospects. over in u.c. berkeley things are looking rosier. u.c. berkeley said it had so many recruiters it had to expand the job fair an extra day. >> employers that they have been holding back on their hiring plans and now they are a little bit more confident about their plans. that is why they are showing up in berkeley in larger and larger numbers. >> the majority of jobs are being offered by high-tech industries many of them expect

is using eco navigator the company has an office in the redwood city city. >> there are displays how much gas they are consuming at any given time and also a score card that gives you a score as to how you are driving compares to either other drivers of the same car or perhaps a fleet-wide rating. >> when it comes to fuel economy it's not just about how hard you push on the gas pedal something as simple as opening a window will make a difference. >> but with a driver armed with realtime information necessarily make better decisions. that is what martin and his team are trying to figure out. they have installed the eco navigator in a fleet of cars in the bay area and will study the results. one thing at researchers know with or without an eco navigator

afternoon. 55 in redwood city. 53 and san jose 57. we are looking at gusty winds a few delays on arriving flights at sfo. wind gusts up to 36 miles an hour. half moon bay, it's going to be a raw day with numbers in the 50s. as you head up to fairfield this morning. this morning here are the numbers down anywhere from two degrees around the bay. with those winds today it's going to feel like a spring afternoon. breezy winds a cooler afternoon and temperatures continuing to stay below the average tomorrow and by wednesday. another system heads our way bringing a chance and the possibility of some rain. so here is a look at satellite and radar composite which systems track on through. they are mainly to the north and east of the bay area. so we are looking at a dry day today. if you are headed to the sierra,

hours in car repair. he saw it as a way to support his wife and a daughter that lost his faith in him. >> she never saw he so persistent and i drove there for three months every single day they would say no we're not hiring. i wouldn't have it. i just tell them. if you need my help i'm here in case you need me. i just want a chance. >> tony finally did get a break because he had training as a welder. and the recycling operation wanted to hire locals from vallejo. >> it was a bit of pressure. we're not that big but we're a small component in the revitalization of this area. >> a component devouring a ship with one inch thick steel one chunk at a time.

were for items they didn't order. they have received 2891 complaints about the company over the past three years. it turns out new england mint takes real two dollar bills and covers them with a layer of plastic. are they collector items. >> they are considered damaged to the serious collecter. >> currency dealer says enhanced two dollar bills are worth two dollars. >> when they come in with this type of merchandise it surprising to them it's not worth more. >> a federal law says it's a crime to mutilate currency however the new england mint it's enhancing the bills and not damaging them. u.s. secret service which enforces the currency laws would not comment if altering and selling the bills is legal or not. charles lipset says the bills

are perfectly legal. he did not respond to our requests for an on-camera interview. in a statement there is nothing illegal about enhancing u.s. currency. i can make the price at any price i want. future of the price is impossible to determine. we believe we have created a beautiful piece of art. as for billing many customers order things on the phone and forget what they ordered and shocked to see the bill a few weeks later. new england mint did provide a refund of $147 for items she didn't want. the bills she did order are interesting souvenir. >> i'll keep them to tell about it. >> despite 281 complaints better business bureau gives the parent company an "a" plus rating because they respond to each complaint.
