one very close from the same fire is challenging. >> lisa: today for the first time valerio's doctors gave details of the bat the 53-year-old faced, including the fact he was in cardiac arrest the moment he arrived at the hospital. >> between the injuries from the blast, the smoke, the fact he had really bad lung injury, which was precipitated by what happened on the scene, but we tried to do everything we can. >> lisa: in the end it wasn't enough. on this day the firefighters' two families, his work family, and his immediate family, realized valerio's fight to survive was over. we learned the fire department and the families have agreed to have a joint funeral for both tony valerio and lieutenant vincent perez on friday at

st. mary's cathedral. >> alan: san francisco's mayor ed lee was among those who rush to the hospital to support valerio's family. he extended his appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice. >> i'd just like to officially thank vincent perez and anthony valerio for their wonderful service to our city, to all the residents of this great city. >> alan: and governor brownish you'd a statement acknowledging the loss of anthony valerio. brown said, we send our deep con dole lenses -- condolences to the family as the mourn his death the passing of firefighter vein tent perez this week. flags will be flown at half staff at the capitol. >> san francisco fire chief says the department is now reviewing procedures and tactics used by firefighters on thursday to

wear, let's go to leigh glaser. >> leigh: a little bit of a break in the action. actually, most of the heaviest rain moved across the bayor this morning, but live doppler 7hd still picking up moderate rain, mainly on the east bay. you can see the trajectory of the showers back towards the rest. to the north you got hit with some rainfall. this cell, the red and the yellow, heading toward vallejo and rotating back towards hercules. probably rotate back over the bay and head towards marin county in the next 30-40 minutes. picking up moderate rain in the last 15-20 minutes, livermore, rotating back up towards the walnut creek area. this will move in your area in the next five minutes.

a report-breaking rainfall event today on this june 4-inch oakland setting a new record, almost an inch and a half there san francisco, a little over an inch. and lesser amounts in san jose, napa, and mont rachel -- monterey, nonetheless, all record rainfall today. >> alan: in other news, police in san jose are searching for a ducksman after a deadly shooting. one victim died after two people were shot last night on birch lane. a second man was created for his injuries. detectives say the victims were drinkingber in front of a house when a man opened fire on them. this is san jose's 23rd 23rd homicide of the year. they had 25 for all last year. >> in oakly, 21-year-old man died after being shot this morning. someone opened fire on him around 4:00 a.m. around the campus of the o'hara pack middle

school. police and contra costa county sheriff's department -- deputies searched for clues. the victim's name has not been released. >> the daughter of the man suspected of beating giants fan bryan stow is speaking out in support of her father, saying, he is innocent. giovanni ramirez's mother and daughter do not want to be identified but did want to talk about the accusations against ramirez. yesterday his daughter said she was with her dad on march 31st , the day of the attack, they were not at the stadium and her father did not have a shaved head. >> i knew it wasn't my dad, he did have hair, and he would play around with me, and i told him to shave and it surfing but he at any time -- but he didn't want to listen. and a couple days later he had

>> alan: a survey shows that b.a.r.t. passengers are willing to squeeze into smaller seats so they can have more room to stand and walk aboard trains. there's new cars being designed to replace the current fleet. some existing cars date back to when b.a.r.t. openin' 1973.

early feedback indicates passengers like seats two inches narrower than the current ones, 22 inches. that would allow for slightly wider aisles. >> building a new stadium for the 49ers is going to cost more than $10 million over the original estimate. our media partners at the san jose business journal report the projected cost is now $950 million. planners originally thought the new stadium would cost $937 million. a 49er spokeswoman says she expects the estimates to continue to fluctuate as the project moves forward. construction on the stadium is set to begin in early 2013. >> let's talk about all this rain we're having. leigh glaser standing by at the weatherboard. >> leigh: i think we're ready for 80s and sunshine. we'll get to that as we have the forecast. but i want to show you this impressive storm system. most of the heaviest rain right

there, wrapped up tightly, moved across much of the bay area earlier in the day. you can see the rotating row off the coast, already some warm moisture bands coming into play, and this is going retate in to bring us more showers and a chance of a few isolated thunderstorms for sunday. rainfall totals. here's a look at some across the bay area. inch for san francisco and oakland. st. helena, close to an inch. other locations, half to even close to an inch. a very strong system for this time of year, and it looks like much of the rain will continue to move on towards the east tonight. we are picking up some moderate rain. live doppler 7hd, just to the north of concord, these showers here heading towards vallejo, turner parkway, this one here in benecia, already rotating to the north, to the west, novato, even

san rafael. some showers heavy at time, could move in your vicinity in the next 30-45 minutes. so, we will look for some scattered showers overnight. sunday, look for some sun breaks and scattered showers, and enter in chance of an isolated thunderstorm as we see some daytime heating tomorrow, and then dry, warmer weather is in the forecast for next week. the frontal band moves through, bringing us the heaviest rain early in the day. the low off the coast will continue to throw bands of showers and moisture our way, right on in through sunday night and early monday morning, not going to be a total loss. overnight tonight, we're in a dry slot, right on in through tomorrow morning. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, mainly dry. that's not to say we couldn't see an isolated shower, but it's going to be tomorrow afternoon where the majority of the shower

activity will take place, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and we expect the chance of an isolated thunderstorms. a few more shores me a rotate in here, and then after that it's over with, and high pressure will build and things will dry out. 40s north bay. 50s elsewhere. the clouds will be with us. highs for sunday, mid-to-upper 60s across much of the bay area, with sun breaks, scattered showers, isolated thunderstorm, and look for 70 for gilroy. my accuweather seven-day forecast. off and on showers, isolated thunderstorms for sunday, also some sunshine. so a little more sun tomorrow than today. warmer temperatures as we head into monday afternoon, and check out tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, such a nice rebound. high pressure builds in, brings the sunshine and warmer temperatures. >> alan: i'd like to say we'll be back to normal, but i'm not not, because you never know.
