good morning. a shootings in east palo alto overnight has taken the life after two-month-old boy. police say his parents were leaving a baby shower when two men in the early 20s approached them and opened fire. those parents were also hit but the injuries are described as non life-threatening. they drove away from the scene to make it to a hospital and got as far as downtown palo alto where the car stopped on

university avenue. oakland police are investigating the shooting of three men this morning, near 12th street and webster. victims were found at several locations in the areas between civic center and lake merritt. one is in critical condition and other is in stable condition. so far no arrests. >> still some rain in the forecast, but nothing but blue skies are heading our way. here is lisa argen. >> from sutro camera, golden gate park and a few peeks of sun, but to the north, pretty heavy clouds and pretty heavy rain falling in napa moving from up vallejo to american canyon. santa rosa, rohnert park, yountville, coming federal court south, it will be rotating back to the west as the area of low pressure still spinning rainbands toward the bay area today. north bay will be getting wet.

the fingerprinting process as one of the major reasons the state has the lowest food stamp participation rate in the country, 50%. theresa lyons didn't like to give their fingerprints. >> sometimes it's hard to know you are getting finger prints. >> but more people may be joining the food stamp program because the assembly has a proposal to remove the requirement. with more participation, millions more in federal matching dollars would come into the state. >> by increasing participation in eligible benefits, 86 could serve as a massive stimulus package. >> but republicans thought the proposal fought it saying it's one of ways to combat fraud. >> this is one firewall that prevents abuse of this system.

>> but a state audit found the fingerprinting program to be costly and redundant and recommends it's elimination. next year it will cost taxpayers $17 million to maintain. >> why would we continue to waste our money and keep our people from getting food that they need. >> it will now head to the senate. it will cost about $11 million to shut down the fingerprinting system. pg&e is meeting with five families in san bruno affected by the pipeline saturday. they have left in the lurch by a contractor, vanderbilt construction that has suspended operations and might close down altogether. heather ishimaru has more on the story. >> vanderbilt construction boarded up windows eeld after the pipeline blast and fire.

they want to bill the utility directly. vanderbilt was the preferred general contractor recommended to homeowners needing repairs. now vendor built has left two jobs unfinished with questions about whether the subcontractors have been paid as expected. pad and fred's work was done about a month ago. >> everybody got paid. >> we hope they did because i think aaa would have advised us if the money is not because the subs would have called them up. >> but they haven't received any guarantees or warranties on the new windows, roof and garage door. now, they are worried they never will. >> we have no what was going on. pat, my wife, the sign was taken down from the lawn two days ago. then she had another one up here

with a big black "x" on it. >> her subcontractors were not paid. she can't afford to finish the work. she was supposed to meet with pg&e this afternoon. pg&e says we continue to stand behind the families helping them get back on track and into their homes as quickly as possible. the owner of this memo, on a massive repair and renovation, vanderbilt did a lot of work on estimates but declined to bid on the project. the reason, a company reorganization and that was in february. the september natural gas pipeline explosion and fire killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. first rebuilt project begin last month. >> vanderbilt has not returned our messages left with its answering service. building a new stadium in santa clara for the 49ers is going to cost more than $10 million over original estimates. they report that the projected cost is now $950 million, up from the original $937 million.

it was unbelievable the extension of the smoke. >> huge plumes of smoke can be seen in new mexico and colorado. already the fire measured 218 square miles and is expected to grow. it's the third largest wildfire in state history. >> from the air, it's moving somewhat rapidly. >> crews now struggle to keep the flames from reaching homes and structures nearby hoping winds will die down and the fire will begin to subside. >> according to the calendar, conditions similar to that should be cropping up in the next month but you look out the window and everything seems so wet. >> yes. pretty good showers, golden gate bridge right now, mostly cloudy conditions. we'll see few more showers and thunderstorm mainly north in the east bay. then things turn around.

emeryville camera. overcast right now. rain now and then. when this week is over, whole new day on the way. pictures taken with a laptop computer got a suspected thief in trouble. a hidden piece of software documented every move and ended up with a pile of evidence. jonathan bloom talked to the owner. >> when joshua kaufman tweeted this photo of an oakland police officer handing him back his stolen laptop, it was the end of a game going on for three months. >> the software is undetectible and he doesn't know it's there. >> that's right. photographs like this one, of the man police arrested sleeping in front of the computer and this photo of the same man using the computer without his shift off. pictures were taken by a security program called hidden

that tracks stolen laptops and sends back photos from the built-in camera along with shots what is on the screen and computer's location. the man that invented it he came up with the idea when his own computer disappeared. >> it was stolen years ago in london. there was nothing they could do to recover it. >> they say laptops like this one are reported stolen all the time and almost never returned. police don't have any reel real leads to arrest anyone. this case was filed away too but police had another look and realized it was different. >> including photographs, where he believes the computer was. >> you have facebook they are using different social networks and browsing online. >> in oakland, it didn't take

long to track down who police say admitted he bought the laptop knowing it was stolen. >> we conducted an undercover operation, within two hours we are able to locate the suspect. >> police say he is a limo driver and they lured him to meet him in a town car. he left in a squad car. we're off to a better start than yesterday, downpours. it's going to get better? >> it will, but we have low that will move closer. we're going to see the rain increase just a little bit out. maybe a thunderstorm, not like the steady run ra and record rainfall that was all across the many bay area. view from sutro. you can see the golden gate bridge, we do have the rain coming down pretty good in napa

pulling up in american canyon in the past hour or so. it's going to take a turn through santa rosa. you see the rainbands out ahead of the area of low pressure that is still offshore. this is one band that will continue to move up to the north giving the rain once again a light moderate rain through thaep. notice offshore, returns are light, to the south and east. peninsula is looking at more sunshine. here is view of original picture. there the low. here are the bands ahead of it and to the south of the barrier, down around monterey -- to the bay area. this gets closer around 4:00 or 5:00, that is when the rain is going to increase, south bay and on the peninsula and the north bay. 59 in oakland. 60 in half moon bay. we are couple degrees warmer this morning. that trend will continue right through the workweek with much more sunshine. scattered showers this morning.

possibility of a thunderstorm with a few sun breaks. dry and warmer right through the week. once again, there is the low. it is continuing to spin, but it is weakening a little bit and fly to the south and east. you can see the main shower activity, sacramento valley and we'll be looking at the showers around the bay right through the afternoon. take a look at the north, east bay hills. 2:00, possibly pretty good downpours out there. throughout the evening hours, we'll see scattered shower activity. east bay 9:00, maybe showers through the overnight hours. then we'll look for maybe a scattered light shower in the north bay, monday morning commute but as clouds continue to dissipate. away will see more sunshine and numbers below the average. we'll get up to 70 degree range tomorrow. in terms state, northern half has been plagued by cool, wet
