divide us. you know, i think our community can see right through it. >> the issues for life foundation, a branch. the radiance foundation, has launched this too many abortions.com campaign. the group claims black women are disproportionately having abortions. at a news conference they called planned parenthood racist for providing those aborings and denying children the right to life. >> i had an appointment for death. my mother's name was printed in a book and there was an appointed time for me to die. unless god broke that appointment, i wouldn't be here today. >> planned parenthood deny the charges of racism and said the reason black women are in proportion nationally represented is because of lack of healthcare. >> the issues for life foundation said they picked june to launch their campaign in california because it was in

june of 1967 that california vote today legalize abortion in the state. the pro-choice people say they wish the foundation would have spend all the millions of dollars in this campaign to provide health services to black families. in oakland, abc7 news. congresswoman barbara lee released this statement. she said i'm deeply evidence by the race-based billboards being displayed in my congressional district by the radiance foundation and issues for live. these billboards stigmatize women of color and perpetuate myths about parenting skills and the types of women who seek and use abortion services." fairfield police arrested a man wanted this connection with a pipe bombing after a standoff last night. he's seen here with his hands on his head slowly following police orders. gave himself up after about three hours in a home. fairfield police, the highway

patrol and the fbi all responded to the residence. police say they were worried that garcia had bombs in the home. >> on friday police game garcia as a suspect in a fair field pipe bomb explosion. that damaged a car back in may. the car's owner was not hurt. police aren't saying if they believe garcia is connected to the newspaper bomb attack that injured a man in march. >> and contra costa fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a bits purchasing home. last night they found a valley view home fully engulfed in flames when they showed up just after 7:00. the fire destroyed cars in the driveway and damaged a neighboring home. it was so intense that it sent up a large column of smoke that could be seen more than a mile away. three residents were taken to

a local hospital. they were suffering from smoke inhalation. the fire marshal said a smoke alarm alerted residents to the fire, which started in the garage. united airlines is still recovering this morning from friday night's system wide computer meltdown. it kept flights from taking off for more than five hours, stranding thousands of passengers all over the country. abc7 follows up at san francisco international airport where she found plenty of frustrated travelers still caught in the backlog. >> follow the line. >> there was a renewed sense of urgency at the united airlines terminal. >> boring pass. >> the goal is to get as many passengers out and in the air as quickly as possible. computers at both united and continental, which recently merged, went down at 5:15 friday afternoon, leaving thousands of travelers stranded. >> not happy. >> but the computers came back on five hours later. the passengers' sentiment today

utility worker threatening to cut off his power if they didn't allow him to install a smart meter. pg&e customers can get on a delay list and hold off on smart meter installation until the california public utilities commission makes a decision on a radio-off option. that means that pg&e would install the smart meters, but a meter reader would still have to come out to the moments. >> police are investigating a shooting death of a man in west oakland last night. detectives say the victim was found around 10:00 on 19 street near market. he had been shot many times and died later at a local hospital. police have not identified any suspects. the victim's name has not been released. volunteers hit the streets of oakland yesterday making a statement against violence and trying to help track down a killer. they handed out flyers and t-shirts to gather information

about the shooting back on may 29th. 28-year-old latoya kenny and another person died. a third person was critically injured. it happened at a block party near 88th avenue and international boulevard. that's where this rally and flyer drive were held. >> we are out here just trying to get the message out and let people know that her family wants justice. she has two little girls at home. they need justice for their mother. >> investigators have not made any arrests in the case. police and crime stoppers of oakland are offering up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest. the family of missing nursing student michelle le will spend a third day searching for her today, coordinated by hayward police homicide investigators. community volunteers will gather yesterday.

so it will still be breezy at the coast but the westerly winds backing off. 54 in red wood city, good morning, mountain view, it's 56. 56 concord, as well as napa this morning. and 63 already in antioch. 24 hours ago we were cooler at our coast in oakland, but elsewhere we are warmer this morning. so we are looking at that warmup beginning in the morning hours, taking us right through the afternoon. in fact, going through the middle of the week in some of our inland valleys. patchy coastal clouds and that should do it. we will look for the stronger, down sloping winds to continue the warmup, as much as 15 degrees warmer in some spots. we were barely at 60 in some coastal locations yesterday and getting hot throughout the middle of the week. here's the setup today. the fog is going to hang a little bit longer along the san mateo coast, half moon bay, ocean beach. it will pull back quickly and with the northwesterly winds we will see temperatures warm up today. from the 70s around the bay.

so out of the 60s in the east bay and more 80s to near 90 around some of our inland valleys. if you like it warm, you will like today. average highs today for santa rosa should be in the low 80s. we are surpassing that to 87. five degrees above average. oakland 7 degrees warmer than where you should be. san francisco just a degree warmer. redwood city should be about 80 and today should be 85 in livermore but topping out around 90. san jose, what about 84 today. we haven't seen these temperatures in quite a while. a little bit warmer than our last warmup and this is due to a stronger ridge of high pressure buildling on through oregon from the eastern pacific w that the northerly winds take over. we call those down-sloping winds. so whatever fog there is it is really going to quickly dissipate, evaporate, and we will see rapid warming today, the air mass drying out. from today, right on through tuesday, we will top out with numbers in the mid-to upper

for somebody else's utility bill. >> i asked them how are they holding me responsible if my name is not on the lease? >> it's because of a woman who sub leased to kristi wasn't paying her pg&e bill. the little known rule said all adults living in the premises are responsible for the utility bill, even if their names are not on the pg&e bill. it's called electric rule 3. >> i don't know what the third rule of the puc is but i know that this isn't right. >> kristi said the rent at her old place included utilities. yet when she tried to turn on power here, pg&e saw her old address on her driver's license and said pay up. $4,600 or no lights. >> all adults will be held responsible for any outstanding balance. >> katie of pg&e said indeed an old bill will follow you to your new residence and stop any service.

kristi didn't think it was right to pay somebody else's bill and couldn't afford all that money anyway. so mother and son lived without power for days, then weeks, then months. >> so it was super freezing. it was just horrible. >> i don't really like going in the dark. i'm not afraid of the dark, i just don't like being alone in the dark. >> he did his homework in the windows because it got dark at 5:00. >> zach went to live with a relative. >> two and a half months without power and a friend said call 7 on your side. >> we contacted pg&e and things changed fast. the utility company spoke with a former landlady, who agreed to take responsibility for the bill, and days later, kristi's house lit up. >> i cried. i was crying. >> we did a poor job of understanding her story. once we were able to get all of the information, she was able to contact the customer record, who then contacted us, assume the

instructor belives yoga offers more than well-being. it offers hope to those in haiti. children were orphaned by the earthquake. abc7 reports on how she's using yoga to help in haiti. >> we've seen the devastation in haiti, the shattered lives, children left orphaned. a miran county woman wants them to smile again. lisa and her office, yoga ventures, says it's about help, emotionally and spiritually. >> what surprised me even more was the perseverance of the haitians, their strength, their faith. >> she took 15 people from her yoga classes to haiti last year. each person carrying 50 pounds of tools to build a dental clinic. >> even though we just brought

what we could, it was more than what they had. >> one girl asked can i go home with you? and it was hard to say i can't take you home, but we have this moment. >> that's all they want. they want to be loved and that's something you can give that doesn't cost anything. >> lisa had to do more. she met a woman who feeds 275 children everyday. >> she has children that show up with nowhere to go. >> they needed a place to live. this is the result, a center where they can live. a seismically strong building. >> we don't want it to turn into some kind of compound. we want them to have their own beds. someplace the children will feel like is going to be their home. >> she's held yoga events, called collective hearts for haiti, to raise money. the response has been overwhelming. it's with classes like this and so many fund-raising events that lisa is finally realizing her dream. construction begins next week. >> they will leave for haiti
