the parked car and a man with a block hoodie shot several times and the shooter got away. >> budget cuts are coming to san francisco superior court. and that could slow everything down from divorces to lawsuits. the drastic cuts. >> reporter: employees left work at san francisco's superior court and headed home for an unsettled weekend. >> everybody's future is up in the air. >> what is going to happen is a drastic reduction in the number of employees and courtrooms. on monday 200 layoff notices will be mailed out. they will target court reporters and clerks and a is on top of the 11 court commissioners that were let go this week. civil cases will take the brunt. >> you can file a civil case but it will sit on the shelf with

pain placed on californians. >> a lot of people will be laid off. about 40% of the court staff. apparently we'll hear next week what is going on. >> the layoffs will take place on september 30th, new state budget calls for an extra $4 billion in unanticipated revenue. if that doesn't come in, the cuts to the court system could be even deeper. a program appeals court has ordered the mirld to temporarily continue the don't ask, don't tell policy. the court of appeals in san francisco based the ruling on new information provided by the federal government. they halted the policy last week. yesterday's decision comes after at justice department filed a motion on thursday saying ending the policy now would preempt the orderly process for rolling it back. >> it is still early but so far no sign of a gridlock predicted with the closing of a ten-mile

bay. this afternoon, here is where the mild weather will be as the clouds beginning to peel back we are looking at sunshine in vacaville. travis is cloudy. air force base -- here is the plan for the rest of the day. clouds will continue to pull back but they are going to stay from the san mateo coast and even from the marin coast. southern marin county and you will see the cool afternoon temperatures and see just 70s for the warmest inland valleys. it's going to take a little bit of time to erase this trough. this is a secondary trough that has brought the cooler air and allowing temperatures to struggle in to the 80s. in fact there is only going to be a few 80s today. across the state we're looking at mid-80s in the san joaquin valley. 70 in big sur. 77 in los angeles, cool for southern california with pleasant numbers in 81 in

yosemite. back home we're looking at more widespread 70s after the fog lifts, 73 in campbell and still pretty good in san jose at 72. looking at 69 today in menlo park. mid-50s at our coast. rich richmond and sunset district, san francisco all pretty gray today with a cool afternoon on attach. -- on tap. >> mild in calistoga. sonoma county, cool for july, 65 in san leandro, 67 in fremont. we'll have a lot of sunshine but only 74 concord. 78 in fairfield today. we talked about that sun in santa cruz. you have to wait for that and a gradual warming trend but at least the marine layer will spin out. still mist and drizzle perhaps overnight and mid-80s, upper 80s about 90 at the end of the week.

broken into eight homes in the past week. >> he was on my property on saturday. my dogs barked a lot and alerted me. i just stayed in the house. >> reporter: he has lived here for 78 years and has seen his fair share of bears but not recently. >> this bear that we have now is a first one we've had now for some years. >> park rangers used a trap like this one to catch the bear last weekend. this they put a radio caller and ear tag and drove him out of area but he camera back days later. >> he has found food. when they find food, if it's in somebody's house they will hang around. >> the park has posted flyers on homes where the bear has been spotted letting people know about the encounters and to use

safety precautions. >> use food storage lockers and anything with scent. food and drinks, suntan lotion has a scent and a bear is attracted to. >> it appears this bear has been eating a lost birdseed which should be put away. lock windows, doors and cars, but despite having as many as 500 bears roaming yosemite, rangers say it's still a safe place for visitors. >> there has never been a bear attack here in yosemite. from yosemite to the coast, let's find out what the weather is. >> we'll go from mild to cool because we're going to look at temperatures, comfortable in our inland valleys, certainly not hot. back home we talked about the fog and it's not only across the san francisco area, it's well inland providing mist and drizzle and some slow clearing today. in fact downtown, hard pressed to see any sunshine at all.

today will be the cooler day out of the weekend. it's 59 in fremont. you see 61 and still cloudy in san jose. clouds in antioch but out by vacaville we're looking at sun but gusty winds out by fairfield. southwesterly winds gusting to 31 miles an hour and fog has moved on in with the low cloudiness. morning drizzle with the overcast, cool tomorrow, looking at a gradual warming trend as we head to the latter parts of the workweek next week. look at all the cloudiness up and down the coast. it's filtered in across the bay. as it begins to peel back today. we'll see the temperatures respond but it's not going to burn back totally. we're still going see clouds not only from san francisco, through montera but pescadero but through marin county and it will be the afternoon where we see
