hit her. >> eric holtz's niece linda is in critical but stable condition at san francisco general hospital. the 11-year-old lives the city's sunset district and was visiting for a few days. she was getting ready for bed when the shooting started. >> i started hearing shots ring out. one shot entered the bedroom worry, and shot her through the -- near the lung, and exited the back. and she ran out, said, eric, i'm shot. >> it's really sad,]i because,i mean, it's a young girl, you know. >> it's a treatmen tragedy, a ce tragedy. >> even san francisco police are outraged by the crime. investigators did arrest two men, an 18 and 19-year-old today, and the city's gang unit is now in charge of this case. >> we've been seeing an increase in some random shootings, so the officers have been -- there's been more foot patrol. officers have been -- the housing officers have been in and out of the developments more. >> the uptick in crime in the

western addition started a few weeks ago. the district supervisor says the focus needs to be specifically on young people, ages 17 to 26. >> it has to be both ends. both ends it's smart on crime law enforcement and the other end is an accountability social service strategy that's able to reach out to these people. as for the suspects, police are releasing very few details about what they were arguing about, and what they'll be charged with. >> bart police have released another video in the case of a man shot to death at san francisco civic center station. the tape was released late last night, but it's too far from the scene to show much. bart police chief ordered the release of the video after earlier saying all surveillance tape of the incident had been released. tapes show the bart officer pulling out his weapon. rainy says he was misinformed about the new tape, which is it

was not released until now. the death toll continues to climb in norway. police say at least 92 people are confirmed dead. 32-year-old norwegian anders behring breivik has been charged with setting off a fertilizer bomb at a building in oslo, killing seven people. he's also accused opening fire on children attending a camp affiliated with the country's labor party. at least 85 people were killed there, but police are still searching for more victims. >> people run up the steep hill. i saw the people coming up the hill. he shot them at the top, and they were falling. >> hiding behind the cliff, in the trees, all over. >> a norwegian news agency says behring breivik wrote a 1500-page manifesto before the attack criticizing multi culturism and muslim immigration. police found 6 tons of fertilizer on the suspect's

farm. abc7 news is learning more about the case against two men arrested for the march beating of giants fan bryan stow. louie sanchez and marvin norwood are expected to be arraigned on monday. we have the very latest on that investigation. tomas? >> alan, abc7 news is learning more about the case against two men who are expected to be arraigned on monday for the beating of giants bryan stow. charges were filed friday against 29-year-old louis sanchez and 30-year-old marvin norwood for the march 31st attack at dodger stadium. each face three felonies. both are being held on half a million dollars bond. police say both men have extensive criminal pasts, which include prior arrests for violence. today lapd's police chief addressed criticism for the suspect initially believed to be involved. >> it's important to realize that the los angeles police department truly believes that it's just as important to exonerate the innocent as it is to implicate the guilty.

that's what we did in this case. sometimes it takes longer than all of us would like, but that's the nature of the business. >> abc7 legal analyst dean johnson says additional charges should be filed against the suspects. >> i think this complaint is undercharged. the people who did this to bryan stow deserve to go to prison for life. and there's a very easy way to get there. in addition to charging mayhem, the prosecutor could charge aggravated mayhem, or in the alternative torture. either one of those fits the facts of this case, and either one of them carries a sentence of life. >> bryan stow continues to recovery at san francisco general hospital, and is showing some signs of progress. >> thank you together, mass. a man who got trapped head first in a storm drain says he was attacked and robbed in stanislau county, and tonight he's accusing police of putting his life at risk. police released this photo of jared maderos, saying he was drunk thursday morning when he

went to the storm drain, but maderos claims he was attacked by gang members who threw his cellphone down a storm drain and he went to retrieve it. he says a head injury he suffered in the attack prevented him from explaining his stories to officers. >> my head was bleeding. i started shaking once i realized my head was bleeding. i don't know why, but i started shaking. then i went for my phone trying to get help. my phone was in there. >> police say their original report was based on information they had when they rescued maderos, but they're interested in talking to him again. a different kind of community meeting was held in richmond today where residents met with former criminals to come up with ways to help them reenter society. city leaders also attended the forum that focused on a new survey of richmond, residents who had served jail time, and it determined the best ways to help them reenter society. >> want to everybody to be successful in richmond, wherever you start.

and house leaders met again but the meeting elbowed with no deal. yesterday house speaker john boehner broke off talks with the white house and today tempers continued to flair. >> listen, it's time to get serious. >> they have to ask themselves, can they say yes to anything? >> the nation's borrowing powers will expire unless congrats the debt ceiling by august 2nd. budget cuts coming to california courts. $350 million have been slashed from the court system, amounting to about 15% of its budget. trial courts, appeals courts, and the california supreme court, will be affected. the plan includes a delay in most new courthouse construction and the suspension of a new computerized case management system. well, laid-off teachers who once worked for the new haven school district are getting their jobs back.

the "contra costa county times" reports that the district this week told 24 teachers they will be rehired, in addition to the 29 teachers who have already been called back. most will fill positions open through retirements and resignations due to cuts in state funding the district has also increased class size, reduced the instructional year, and added furlough days for all employees. nurses from throughout the kaiser permanente hospital chain gathered today to express their concern about a plan to eliminate the hospital's pediatric unit when it moves to san leandro, saying many families will have to drive to san jose or oakland for treatment. >> if san leandro doesn't have a pediatric unit, it will cause transferring them to another place. >> kaiser permanente released a

>> a solemn ceremony in lower manhattan today. a relic of the september 11th attacks was moved to its permanent home. crews loaded and intersecting beam on to a truck and drove it to the memorial. the piece of metal was recovered near the towers following the attacks. well, troubled pop singer amy winehouse has been found dead at her home in london. the cause of her death is still unknown, but the 27-year-old singer battled drug and alcohol

addiction for years. she shot to fame with the album "back to black" which won five grammys, but became known for erratic stage appearances, fights, and stints in rehab. the oppressive heat is still gripping much of the nation. heat warnings today in several states where temperatures reached record highs again, blackouts struck neighborhoods, and in the eastern u.s. the power grid that covers 13 states set new records for power use. >> on the one hand it's really exciting. on the other hand, it's a little scary. so, yeah, we're in unchartered territory. >> at least a dozen deaths across the nation are being blamed on the heat wave. and in chicago, a storm brought a bit of relief from the heat, but also major flooding to the windy city. nearly 100,000 people were without power this morning. the flooding got so bad, that people had to wait until the flooding subsided before they had to abandon their cars.

forecasters warn more severe weather is on the way for the midwest. well, it may be mid-july, but skiers and snowboarders still hit the slopes this weekend. boreal mountain resort had runs open today for summer skiers. a record summer snowfall is behind the latest opening ever. the record is believed to be august 13th at mammoth mountain back in 1995. that's crazy. >> why not? if you've got it, use it. >> took a while for the sun to come out today. >> certainly did. more sunshine sooner tomorrow, and that means at least for sunday temperatures will be a few degrees water. then we'll start to cool things down again on monday. nice shot for you here from our high-definition east bay camera, of course, where the coast is, that's where the low clouds and fog are sitting right now, but brilliant sunshine inland. 81 right now in antioch. livermore, 76. 68 degrees right now in napa. 62 in san francisco. redwood city checking in, 76.

and 74 right now in san jose. so the low clouds and fog banked up near the coast. we'll venture back inland tonight. we'll look for slightly warmer temperatures by sunday afternoon and then we'll start to cool things down monday, tuesday, in through wednesday. we'll start off this morning. the fog just pushing in, out toward the delta. the east bay locations. you can see as we made our way through the course of today. here's a little eddy, you can see that counterclockwise spin pulling some of the fog off the coast there, but really for us most of it socked in. temperatures there in the 50s. of course we had mid to upper 80s inland where the sun was shining. no fog there. tonight we'll keep some heat inland with antioch getting down to 57 degrees. 52 for concord. low clouds and fog will move back in thanks to a strong onshore wind flow. san francisco tonight getting down to 50 degrees. oakland 52. and san jose 54 degrees. here's a look at the setup. we had a little bit of high

pressure. it will continue to be with us for one more day tomorrow, so look for temperatures to come up a few degrees, because it is going to be this low that's going to sag to the south. that's be our cooling mechanism as we head into monday, tuesday, and wednesday. in fact, temperatures those days running anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees below where we should be for this time of year. all righty, tomorrow morning, low clouds and fog, you can count on that. inland locations as well. but then around 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, it should start to burn back to just the coast. we'll keep temperatures upper 50s near 60 degrees coastside, and then warm things a little bit more so inland with temperatures tomorrow mid to upper 80s. here's a look at numbers for you. 84 for campbell. at the coast, half moon bay, you'll probably see some peekaboo sunshine there, 64 degrees. 79 for palo alto. san francisco, you'll warm to 66. look for some hazy 9 late in the day. 79 for petaluma. 76 for vallejo. on the east bay, oakland 74,
