rival versions of an emergency plans. the deadline for the federal government to continue to pay its bills is fast approaching. but neither side appears ready to blink. democrats want the debt ceiling raised until the end of 2012. the republicans are insisting that the debt ceiling can be raised as much as spending is big cut. house speaker john boehner is focusing on a rm dealingshort-tg that will raise the debt ceiling by a trillion dollars. president obama has said that is a nonstarter. >> and then go through this whole exercise all over again? that we're not going to do. >> as washington remains at an impasse, each side made the talk show rounds on sunday to make their case to an increasingly anxious public. >> i know that the president is worried about the next election. but shouldn't we be worried about the country? >> the speaker wanted the outlines of the plan before 4:00

but in his head he thought it was necessary. >> reporter: the massacre has plunged norway into mourning. norway's king and queen led mourners who filled the cathedral. they both wiped away tears during the service. outside, norwegians grieved openly with sobs and hugs. as the nation struggles to find a way back from a wilderness of grief. richard cantu abc news. and now, to alaska, and a savage attack by a grizzly bear. it happened in a remote mountain range several hours north of anchorage. seven teenagers were taking part in a wilderness survival course. they encountered the bear with her cub. she charged, badly mauling two boys. >> i guess they were coming to a curve and there was a bear, a mother bear with a cub, and they came across this bear, sort of

startled it. and the bear started going after a bunch of the kids in the group and he, you know, it got him and knocked him down. >> another boy came up and started kicking the bear. you know, to help sam fight the bear off and the bear then went away. so, i don't know who that was. but i'm extremely grateful to that person. >> grateful, indeed. sam and another boy were flown to a hospital, they're now in serious condition. recovering from bite wounds. the other boys were taken to a nearby hospital and then released. it was an amazing sight over dallas last night. an american airlines jet dumping fuel on its way back to the airport. the boeing 777 had just taken off for brazil when its landing gear caught fire. the pilot had to made a u-turn. but had to dump its full load of fuel before trying to land. amazing picture. and there are two new suspects in the dodgers stadium

beating of a san francisco giants fan. they are set to be arraigned today in los angeles. bryan stow nearly died and has been in a coma since the assault on march 31st. init initially los angeles police had arrested another man for attacking stow, he's been exonerated in this case. but he's still in jail on a parole violation. police in london said that a postmortem detailing the cause of singer amy winehouse's death today. zblu. >> but the troubled singer's mother said that it was just a matter of time. fans are flocking to winehouse's london home, leaving tributes and remembrances. a british newspaper is reporting that the singer's unfinished third album has enough material for a possible release. > the rt the record-setting heat has finally broken here in the northeast with temperatures in new york and boston only climbing to the 70s. that sounds nice. >> that does nice.

the markets this morning are worried about the u.s. debt stalemate. investors are concerned that there's still no agreement on how to raise the debt ceiling and the risk that the u.s. could lose its triple a credit rating. and that uncertainty sent

most overseas markets were lowered today. hong kong's hang seng is off 14 points and in london the ftse opened higher. on wall street, the dow gained 201 points. meanwhile nasdaq index rose 69. some federal taxes on airline tickets expired this weekend. but you would never know it from airfares. they stayed the same as nearly all of the airlines raised their prices by the same amount, pocketing the difference. the e tax holiday could end any time, as soon as congress again funds the faa. >> u.s. automakers and the auto workers union opened talks this weekend on a new labor contract. the chief negotiator said that adding jobs will be a top priority. and a superhero beat a boy wizard at the box office this weekend. audiences liked "captain america." captain america opened at number one with $66 million.

"i never want to be in public," she says, "but i have no choice. now i have to be in public.

i have to for myself. i have to tell the truth." and what does she want to see happen by coming forward? "i want justice. i want him to go to jail. i want him to know there are some places you cannot use your money. you cannot use your power when you do something like this." after her initial accusation, there were reports she lied on an asylum application and other discrepancies that cast doubt on her account. but in her interview with abc and with christopher dickey of "newsweek," who got the exclusive print interview, she stuck by her story. >> when she talked about the attack, she wasn't weeping. and it was -- i would say there was about as much ananr as there was sadness. >> reporter: he describes her not only as the proud mother of a 15-year-old girl, but as someone who took great pride in her job. >> if you know people who are challenged in different ways, who are living on the edge of society, they cling to something that gives them dignity and honor.

her in a new interview with abc's robin roberts coming up on "good morning america." hundreds of gay and lesbian couples in new york state are now married.e's the state's legalization of gay marriage went into effect on sunday. advocates are calling the new law a milestone towards full equality. however, not everyone is pleased. protesters are out in force. complaining that lawmakers did not give voters a say in the matter. nfl players and owners are poised to strike a deal that could end the four-month lockout in the next few days. the executive committee of the players union is set to vote on a ten-year labor agreement. if a deal goes through, training camps could begin by the end of the week. >> yes, football. to the sunday night baseball highlights here's will selva over at espn news. >> the mariners free falling without a net in sight.

eluding authorities for more than 30 years ryan owens has the story. >> reporter: arthur jones was hiding in plain sight. a man with a gambling problem living in this las vegas home, working at this casino. the 72-year-old was declared dead decades ago. detectives thought he was murdered by the mob back in 1979. in reality, he sold his seat on the chicago board of trades to settle a massive gambling debt. walked out on his wife of 17 d.ars and his three children and >> a person disappeared, if they're willing to put the energy into creating an incredible ruse and creating a new identity that does not touch his old world. >> reporter: in this criminal complaint, jones told authorities that he had lots of identities. from illinois, he said he moved to florida and learned as richard lage. two years later, jones headed to
