put into perspective by the bombshell moment when gabby giffords walked in to cast her vote. >> an emotioiol time on capitol hill and it's not done yet. scott goldberg is live with all the latest. good morning, scott. >> reporter: good morning, rob and tanya. we expect them to vote on the debt deal sometime after noon less than 12 hours before the default deadline this after the house passed the deal with the yes vote fromomeone who almost nobody expected to be there. with two minutes left on the house clock and the debt deal still hanging in the balance, members of every political faction stopped fighting for a moment. they were stunned to see arizona congresswoman gabrielle giffords walk into the house chamber for the first time since she was shot in the head in january. >> there isn't a name that stirs more love, more admiration, more respect. >> reporter: giffords, a democrat, voted yes then the rest of the yes votes rolled in.

beautiful and i am honored to be at work. rob and tanya. >> scott, does this mean that gabby could be returning to congress full time? >> reporter: no, she's going to stick around washington for a few days. there while her husband celebrates the last flight of the space shuttle "endeavour" then back to houston and back to rehab. as for her re-election we don't know yet. she hasn't made a decision yet. she doesn't have to until next may. >> and nonetheless an extraordinary moment. we'll have a lot more about gabby giffords coming up. investors an the world have been keeping a nervous eye on the debt talks as the u.s. remains the world's biggest economy despite the deal, markets in asia were sharply lower this morning and russian prime minister vladimir putin has some harsh words calling the united states a parasite because of its huge debt load and questioned whether the dollar should be the world's main currency. >> well, the new poll indicates just how fed up voters are about the partisan rancor in washington. "the washington post" asked voters for a single word

characterization about the budget negotiations and the top three words in that poll, ridiculous, disgusting and stupid. nearly 75% offered a negative word and just 2% actually said something positive. and the next issue stoking voter anger out there is a congressional stalemate over the faa. a bipartisan senate plan to end its current partial shutdown fell apart last night. some house republicans had issues with certain provisions congress could leave on its august recess before resolving the shutdown which would cost the government billions of dollars. in new hampshire, the outcome no one wanted in the disappearance of 11-year-old celina cass. the girl's body was pulled from a river near her family's home yesterday. an autopsy will be done today to try and determine the reason for her death. meanwhile, investigators plan to interview everyone in town and focus on vehicles in the area. cass disappeared virtually without a trace last monday night. the world may get a glimpse

of casey anthony for the first time since she was acquitted and released for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter. a florida judge wants her to serve a year of probation in orlando on a check fraud conviction. he says the probation was not supposed to take place while anthony awaited trial. but after. anthony's attorneys are trying to fight it. many more than a dozen states are still roasting under blistering heat from iowa to texas and over to florida. >> there is no relief in sight for the southern plains. tulsa, oklahoma, hit a record 110 degrees yesterday and dallas heats up to 108 today. that will make 32 straight days of triple-digit temperatures. just ten days short of tying the city's all-l-me record. >> 32 straight days of 100 degrees. man. >> what a nasty month. >> those folks in dallas are resilient. the weather around the country, stormy with large hail and flash flooding from des moines and chicago to detroit and cleveland and pittsburgh. showers and thunderstorms in northern new england and scattered storms along the gulf

well, believe it or not the markets are notthowing the soror of enthusiastic reaction you'd expect after the house passed the nation's debt deal. tokyo's nikkei average lost 120 points today. hong kong's hang seng is also down in late trading and in london the ftse opened lower too. the dow lost 10 points yesterday. the nasdaq index lost 11. the big reason for the

market drop has to do with the yield from treasury securities. the yield dropped yesterday to its lowest point since february. treasury yields dictate numerous interest rates affecting mortgages, consumer loans and even bank accounts. ford is recalling 1.1 beneath the truck could make the gas tanks fall off and catch fire. the problem is being blamed for eight fires and one injury. the recall affects various f-150, f-250 and lincoln blackwood pickups, the f-150 is traditionally the best-selling but it has affected millions. no word on where a salmonella outbreak may have started. it killed one person and made at least 76 sick in 26 states since march. federal officials say the usual antibiotics have not been effective against this strain. no recall is under way. apple's icloud is getting mixed reviews this morning. the icloud which allows access to all sorts of apps and

programs went live for the first time monday but access was reportedly limited to mobile me users on certain apple devices. there is tech machine saying some features did not work and some users got stuck. all right. who is hollywood's highest paid actor? later today on "good morning america." and there are new details emerging this morning about the raid that killed osama bin laden. an article in "the new yorker" magazine implies that the may 1st mission was meant to kill bin laden from the start. also, president obama told the navy s.e.a.l.s afterwards that he had 50/50 confidence that bin laden was in the compound and it says the u.s. offered to hand bin laden's body over to saudi arabia. on the menu that day inside the tense white house situation room, sandwiches purchased at costco. >> part of those budget cuts made. >> that's right. well, newly released fbi files on the late senator ted kennedy show that he was the target of death threats. the son of mobster al capone was overheard making a death threat on ted kennedy during a phone call back in the '60s, and then there was the white powder mailed to kennnny's office during that anthrax scare back in 2001. a clue from the deep might be enough to end a mystery. an underwater vehicle was able to locate a body in a crevice
