jones helped out last week against tulsa. thomas had an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery, a sack, two tackles for a loss. >> matt: can you do anything else? >> sean: and he did it in the wee small hours of the morning for those who weren't aware. last week they were supposed to play saturday night a 9:10 kickoff central time in tulsa. there was a weather delay, thunder and lightning in the area, torrential rain. they did not start the game until 12:16 a.m. it ended at 3:35 in the morning. they didn't get back to stillwater until almost 6:00 a.m. sunday. second and one. tannehill went under center. gray wants the first down, and he does. the clock will stop for a moment to move the chains. they're marching methodically but using a lot of time in the process. >> matt: that is what oklahoma state wants to do. they're playing that soft zone and letting him throw underneath and methodically move the ball.

steven terrell is the injured player getting up now. do you run that same kind of play? three yards is a long way to go on a running play. do you like a short pass to move the chains? >> matt: if they're going to throw, it will be something like that, where if there's misdirection first and you have somebody sneaking up. they don't really have the feet option with the quarterback like tannehill would. i would expect it's going to be something like that. >> sean: third and three. 1:59 remaining regulation time. a conversion for mike gundy's cowboys should put it away. spread it out. that means there's the possibility of an inside run. good thing for weeden that it was. terrence frederick saw that one coming and was trying to get in front of blackmon. a pick might have gone into the end zone for a&m.

>> sean: and the interception off the ricochet by thomas, his second of the season. and the big fumble return last year against mike sherman. and the aggies up in stillwater. an agonizing loss. for texas a&m program that is clearly on the rise, rapidly improving under mike sherman. here was a barometer game to make a statement. they had a great year last year, 9-4. mike sherman's slogan this year is prove it. prove it wasn't a fluke. prove you can sustain. here was a chance to prove it. >> matt: they're going to be really disappointed. like you said, they're on the rise. sean, they're young. they have talent. that young offensive line, it's a good group. but they did not perform in the second half. they just kind of wilted. and that is going to cause a lot

of concern. if they go back and watch this tape. there's a lot of mistakes that they made. now, credit oklahoma state. because they did what they had to. and i go back to jeannine's interview at the half with coach gundy. he was not fazed at all where they were. he was kind of calm about the whole thing. >> sean: he basically said, they'll get it together. >> matt: and they did. that's an impressive second half win by the cowboys. >> sean: they deserve a lot of credit. 20-3 at the half. mentioned the bizarre night they had last saturday in tulsa. the game ends at 3:35 in the morning. they found out after the game that coach glenn spencer had lost his wife at age 46. coach gundy missed practice for the first time ever on thursda , to fly to the funeral in atlanta.

what a comeback. >> matt: they did a fantastic job. i can't say enough about old bulldog, that corner. he just played a fap tas tick football game. >> sean: by the way, weeden has thrown for 438 to break his own single game passing record. coach spencer has to feel very good. i'm sure there will be a lot of emotional boys around coach spencer in that locker room. buried his wife yesterday. three receivers in this game for oklahoma state with ten catches or more. that's the first time in school history that's happened. anyiam with ten. blackmon and cooper with 11 catches each. williams threw the ball 60 times with no interceptions. >> matt: starred off slow, but,

boy, the second half started, and he was mistake free. good decisions. ball's where it had to be. >> sean: oklahoma state used its time-out with the clock at two. >> matt: and then they just have to snap the ball, take the snap, take two steps, hold it up, and then take a kneel. >> sean: bill young was emotional when we talked to him the other day. such great empathy for coach spencer and his two teenage boys. even coach sherman. he said, i don't know coach spencer at all. we could tell that mike was very emotional about it. great compassion for one of his coaches for the tremendous loss his family is dealing with. put the clock back to five. oklahoma state, certainly a national championship contender.

>> matt: oklahoma state is real. they can move -- we said the ball was going to be in the air, and they can move the ball up and down the field, and they did it. even when things went wrong, sean, they regrouped, and they had a phenomenal second half, did everything right. >> sean: perhaps it will come down to the big 12 to that game with oklahoma in stillwater on abc on december 3rd. obviously, some tough games right ahead at texas, at missouri. baylor is a very good team. you saw kansas state beat miami on the road today. not an easy schedule. they'll be favored, i think, in every one of those games the rest of the way. >> matt: they're going to snap it to justin blackmon and let him run around for five seconds. >> referee: number 14, five-yard penalty. fourth down. >> matt: he'd better be careful. if he gets tackled. they've got to kick the field goal.

talking at halftime, you had three points. and then you just went and marched on down the field. what changed in the second half? >> there's two things. our players are very mature, and they have a lot of faith in each other. we had hurt ourself in the first half, and we knew that penalties hurt us and missed tackles. our guys have a lot of heart. they had mentioned playing for angela spencer, glenn spencer's wife, and they reminded each other of that at the half, and i think that had a lot to do with that. >> jeannine: i was just going to ask you about that. it's been such an emotional week not only with angela but that grueling midnight game with tulsa. how do you think -- coming into this game, how did you think your players were going to respond to all of this? >> life is full of adversity, unfortunately. you really show your true colors when you get in a situation like that. our players showed who they are and what they're made of. i'm really proud of them. i'm really proud of the way they reached down deep, and i'm really proud of the way they handled coach spencer. we'll always miss his wife. it was a great win for us.

>> jeannine: congratulations, as i bring in brandon weeden. congratulations on a great game. school records, completions, attempts, and yards. seemed like in the third quarter coming out after the half, you guides were just starting to move the ball at will, a lot of short passes. what did you discuss at halftime? >> just continue to do what we're doing. we had a great game plan, lots of defense. just the same as last year. they came out with a little head of steam the first half, and we made great adjustments at halftime. really pleased with the way we adjusted. came out in the second half and battled our butts off. my guys up front, i might have to take them to dinner again. those guys played their butts out. i was very excited about it. >> jeannine: i know angela spencer was named at halftime. an emotional win for you. what's it like to get this win for coach spencer? >> that's a family. she is one of us. it was nice to get a win. >> jeannine: congratulations on a great game, brandon. >> sean: may she rest in peace.

after a high-tech robbery. abc 7 news at 4:00 starts now. good evening, everyone. there is a lot of mystery about that nasa satellite that crashed into the earth last night. one thing we do know is that no one was hurt. abc 7's john alston talked with space experts. there are indications that sat satellite went into the ocean. >> they're following closely here as best nasa can tell us, it came down before 8:23 and 10:09 and broke part and fell into the pacific ocean after the u.s. west coast from. coast to coast and around the world, cameras were pointed skyward trying to catch a glimpse this, shot from southern california. other people in texas and minnesota captured images of strange objects in the sky they thought could have been

parts of the space craft raining down. koit have been a meteor or other space junk. no one has been able to confirm what they saw. still it was intriguing for the volunteer astronomers in the oakland hills. >> this is impressive to see them come in. >> and it's interesting to get a reminder how much space junk is out there. >> the upper atmosphere satellite lunched on the shuttem 20 years ago was about the size of a school bus. and speeding balls of fire scattering over hundreds of miles. the largest chunk 300 pounds. nasa said ofdz people getting hurt were one in 3200. odds of one person getting hit, one in several trillion. space agencies sometimes steer dead satellites into the ocean or park them in a higher orbit

out of the way. nasa tried to control this satellite. >> years ago they ran out of the fuel to finish to lower orbits. so over next few years there is no fuel left to control it. >> nasa keeps an eye on 20,000 pieces of space junk, a few of which sometimes fall to earth. >> every once in a while you're able to see something larger hit the as moss sphere and form a flaming ball of fire. and this would have looked similar to that if you're lucky enough to see it. >> and this case has gotten more attention than normal. and once every year, a satellite comes back into the earth's orbit. there is no known case of anyone being injured by falling space junk. >> thank you, john. >> and it appeared some high-tech devices were set up

to scan customers in a pair of atm machines, police say a technician for chase bank discovered box as tached to two atms. outside of the branch on thursday evening. each contained a cell phone. >> cell phones were set to record presumably people putting their atm cards into the machine and entering a pin number. >> the detectives plan to meet with the security don't review surveillance cameras and check to see if any customer accounts were compromised. it appears boxes were there for an hour, but if you fear you might have been a victim of the scam police suggest you check with your bank or credit card company. >> a man shot and killed just before noon today in oakland. it happened in west oakland near hannah and 34th streets. the victim suffered one gunshot wound rorktsedly to the chest. police attempted to

resuscitate the man but he died at the scene, so far there is no suspect information and police have made no arrests. >> police are saying the mother of a baby found dead is to blame. the child found inside of an apartment yesterday afternoon. and was originally reported as a 2-year-old, police say he was eight months old. a few minutes later police found the mother on a nearby highway overpass. she is now in a local hospital being evaluated. an autopsy is scheduled for monday to determine the cause of the death. richmond police are asking for help in the search for a hit and run driver who killed a man in a wheelchair thursday night around 6:30. investigators say the 52-year-old david cox was in the wheelchair when the driver of a lexus ran over skmim took off he was well known in the neighborhood and was a life long richmond resident.

52-year-old male. everybody saw him daily. you know, powering around in the chair. so he was known by residents here and it's sad for residents. i'm hoping they get the naern did this. >> a makeshift memorial marks the site. police say he was traveling in the direction of traffic when struck. police describe the vehicle as an older model black lexus sedan. the car did not have a license plate. several witnesses tried to catch up to the driver, but the vehicle sped away. >> and unn.less than an hour, school officials supposed to relesion a list of school that's could be closed as part of a plan to save money. eight oakland schools being considered. parents and teachers have been attending meters to speak out against possible closures. hearings will be held after the list is released. it's suspected to be online. we have a link on abc 7

putting americans back to work will be a topic of conversation when the president travels to the bay area tomorrow. he will hold a town hall meeting in mountain view. the white house says he will answer questions from a live audience made up of linked n users and employees. the president focused on the global economy. >> what this means is that if we're serious about building an economy that lasts in which hard work pays off with opportunity for solid jobs we had better be serious about education and have to pick up

our game and raise standards. >> yesterday, the president announced the government will be giving states more flexibility to meet standards for teaching and learning meaning it will be up to states, schools and teachers to come up with ways to get children the skills they need to compete for jobs in the future. >> and now on to something more civil. san francisco st. anthony dining room celebrated 60 years of lending a hand in the tender loin today. there was a block party and barbecue on golden gate avenue. chefs prepared enough barbecued chicken to serve 10,000 lunches in a picnic setting. today's celebration launched st. anthony's hope campaign. there are thousands of meals and a variety of services to people of all ages. thank you very much and jeff martinez is in for leigh glaser taking a look at the clouds out there. >> i'm glad that was today

because tomorrow we're talking about scattered showers moving into the bay area, clouds are rolling on in and so we'll are cloudy out there and cool. so we're looking at a storm system moving into our direction. and we're getting showers now up into the mountains. and there is towards reno area, a lot of moisture moving in from the south. temperatures out there now not too bad. cooler from where we are yesterday. lots of 60s to go around. and 62 degrees in san francisco. so we'll be kind of a chilly night tonight. and strong research gradient. winds picking up about 20 miles per hour. and 43 miles per hour in fairfield. high pressure bringing an area of low pressure just off shore and it's getting ready to head into our direction, there are

highlights like this, cloudy, cool, breezy this evening. scattered showers for your sunday. and there is a chance for precipitation about a quarter inch and less of a chance not going to be a huge storm here. and there are scattered showers and there are clouds moving in, marine layer 2000 feet thick. clouds and fog rolling through the area. here is the accu-weather forecast. and notice the area of low pressure just off off to the north. showers by 9:00 in the morning. that is where the best chances are. and some scattered showers and just like that, system out by monday, high pressure starts to build back n and temperatures warming back up by middle of the week. cooler sunday, lots of 70s to go around. 60 in is a pacifica. fog and light rain throughout the day.

65 in south san francisco. there is a best chance of rain will be up into the north bay tomorrow. maybe about a quarter inch at most with some showers moving through. there is a nice break from heat we've had yesterday and the day before talking about 80s and 100. and so it's going to be cooler today and tomorrow. 75 degrees, that is what looks good. 69 in santa cruz, some showers may make their way down south. and there is where you can see the seven-day forecast again this, is a fast-moving system. and getting through tomorrow, scattered showers, and we clear back out, monday looking good. then back nup 90s inland areas by wednesday. so that has been kind of hot.
