where this line actually goes. hopefully we'll have more information soon. the hoop patrol says it's going to take at least an hour longer for the crews to finish their work and they can open up all four lanes of highway 280. so anyone that wants to take highway 280 is being advised to take 101 instead and avoid delays. abc-7 news. >> now to the "occupy" oakland movement and the heated protest wednesday night. >> alan: a car hitting two pedestrians during the march was caught on video, and today the protester who was hit is speaking to abc-7 news. >> sergio talked with his this afternoon and joins us from oakland. sergio? >> it has been a painful week. the protester who was hit by the car during wednesday's demonstration tells me he spent 24 hours in the hospital, and now he is trying to find some answer. he is trying to figure out who the person was behind the wheel of that car, and why that driver

was not arrested. >> lance says he and a friend were on their way to get something to eat after participating in the general strike in oakland. they were noned basil very mercedes as they crossed the street with other marchers. >> everybody is working but you can't let us by? and that's when i was knocked down. and just -- >> reporter: you can see in the video, lance bangs on the hood of the car and then the car jolts forward. he suffered a lacerated kidney and a broken foot. he is happy to be alive and gets emotional about the support from friends. >> a lot of people showing support and a lot of love to both of us, and that's what is -- i don't know. >> reporter: he and his friend were both injured. he says her ankle was crushed we the car. the driver was not arrest by b.a.r.t. police, nor has his name been released. he drove off against calls

fromle a group of onlookers who demanded he be taken into custody. oakland police have taken over the case. a spokesperson tells us, according to the information i have, the driver was not under the influence and he was released by b.a.r.t. police officers so he did not flee the scene. b.a.r.t. police took the information from the driver and has forwarded that information to us. she says it's possible charges could be issued by the police after they investigate what happened. >> are you angry? >> yeah. because you can't hit people with your car. and just get up and just drive away, and then no one, like -- you can't do that, man. >> reporter: the spokesperson for oakland police tells us tonight their department is also very appreciative of b.a.r.t. police for helping them out in the situation because, of course, on wednesday, oakland police had their hands full with the ongoing general strike and that march. meanwhile, a citizen has filed a

complaint against b.a.r.t. police for the way they handled this incident, and an independent police auditor is now investigating. abc-7 news. >> the revolution will apparently be trademarked and put on t-shirts. shirts, mugs, and other merchandise with "occupy" locations and slogans are already for sale. the u.s. patent and trademark office received several applications from people seeking to own the word "occupy", and the slogan, "we are the 99%." >> alan: on to greece where the prime minister has agreed to resign and work with his party's main opposition to set up an interim government to deal with the country's debt crisis. the prime minister will step down after withdrawing his call for a referendum on a deal with other european nations to pay off greece's debt. many european leaders and greek lawmakers opposed holding a popular vote.
