>> good evening. >> notice number three has gone out to the obama oakland protesters. >> and this evening the die are hards are hunkering down. the city has notified that the parks are offlimits for protesters. >> reporter: these are those notices of violation and order to vacate that you mentioned. now the third day in a row that police officers started passing the notices out to campers. and we were at the plaza this

afternoon. the mood there is quite different than before. a lot of the campers i talk to say the events of the last two days are beginning to weigh on them. the peninsulas the encampment has fewer tents. >> we had meetings and prayed and talking and expressing our feelings. a lot people felt like, is it the time to go? >> a murder happened last thursday when a young man was shot to death feet from the encampment. also at the plaza, a visibility police presence. the order covers snow parks where more than a dozen tents are set up. some say they're ready to leave if police comb. >> they can run us off. >> fences around the city parks now. >> reporter: the city says it is opening a winter shelter at the

old oakland army base for "occupy" campers who are homeless. >> my first reaction is also sound like a concentration camp. >> reporter: for some oakland residents there are hopes the encampmentments will be cleared out soon. she says she understands the original message but has had enough of the camp in oakland. >> if i had family and want to have a picnic, i can no longer do that because you have taken over. you're no different than the ones taking over and think you own something because you happen to be there. >> reporter: walking through the camp this afternoon, there was actually kind of interesting. as if the campers knew something big was coming. different from the steely defiance a couple weeks ago when notices were passed out and the police confrontation followed,

a lot of the campers now seem to be mere weary in their defiance. reporting live, abc-7 news. >> alan: meanwhile, all quiet on the "occupy" san francisco front tonight. police are still searching for two people who slashed officers during yesterday's march down the embarcadero in two separate incidents they cut one officer's finger open and slashed the face of another officer who had his radio storm. police are concerned about the growing number of dogs at the camp. >> tensions are rising at "occupy" encam. -- encampments across the country. >> you must immediately vacate the roadways. >> reporter: police in riot gear pushed the remaining "occupy" oakland protesters out of the park on sunday. a small core group remained. police say two officers were

injured during a clash with protesters overnight. one officer was reportedly hit by some sort of an object. >> this isn't a game. this is real life and people's lives and safety are at stake here on all sides. >> reporter: portland mayor sam adams ordered the camps shut down, citing unhealthy conditions and attracting drug years and thieves. not everyone agrees. >> they're here peacefully. if the police want to incite violence, that's their card. >> reporter: philadelphia's mayor is increasing police presence in a camp outside city hall after a woman was sexually assaulted in her tent. >> this conduct is not about free speech. >> reporter: the suspect has been arrested but the pressure is increasing on protesters to shoot down their camps. >> occupy filly has -- filly has changed. we're seeing issues on a daily basis. >> reporter: calls are calling for protesters to leave their camps or face immediate arrest.

abc news. >> in mill meet tags, sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a parra -- paraglider. shortly after 2:00 this afternoon the sheriffs revved a call. the pair glider -- paraglider was killed on a hill. investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened. lillian kim will have the story live at 6:00. >> a muni bus ran over an elderly man. he is at a san francisco hospital with serious injuries. witnesses say he was walking across the middle of mission street this afternoon when he fell. police say before anyone could alert the muni bus driver, the bus pulled to the curb and rolled over the man. the unidentified man suffered serious trauma to his legs. the driver is being questioned and will undergo the standard drug and alcohol tests. >> two people suffered minor

injuries during an apartment near san francisco. you can see the flames in this home video shot by a neighbor, shooting out the windows. shows the firefighters using a ladder to get access to the burning apartment. the fire started in a building in the richmond district. two people were able to get out but suffered smoke inhalation. tire fire crews are investigating. >> now to the penn state child sex abuse scandal. the governor says he expects more allegations of abuse to surface. long-time penn state joe paterno followed the law which required him to report claims of abuse to the head of his department. >> obviously the attorney general made the decision he did enough and said he's not a subject in the investigation. should the law be changed? absolutely. i know that members of both parties, republican and democrat, have already introduced measures to make that

change. >> the school fired coach paterno earlier this week, shortly after the scandal broke. retired penn state defensive coordinator jerry sandusky faces charges of molesting eight boys over a 15-year. he says he is innocent and is out on bail,. >> santa clara city leaders are expecting to approve spending millions taxpayer funds on the stadium to prepare the site for construction. the mercury news says they city has to borrow $6 million for the team. the money is used for moving utilities and installing sidewalks. >> a man dubbed supermario is charged with taking care of italy's mushrooming debt. >> if you have time but not money, more stores are offering layaway plans for your holiday gifts. one lawmakers wants the

>> some health news tonight. the international diabetes federation predicts one in ten people could have diabetes by 2030. it's estimated 522 million people worldwide will have distinction in the next two decades. the world health organization says the finding is possible and projects diabetes deaths will double by 2030 mostly due to an aging population. a substantial number of future diabetes cases are preventible with proper diet and exercise. >> a warning about sugar drinks and hart disease in women.

for a spectacular sunset this afternoon. here's current readings. mid-to-upper 60s across the bay area today. starting to cool off. 58 in san francisco, 62 in san rafael. livermore, 60. 62 in antioch. and san jose, 60. overnight tonight, you can see the fogcast bringing in a little fog north of the golden gate bridge. as we head to 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 3:00 tomorrow morning, so you could possibly experience a few slowdowns in the protected valley areas. otherwise, get ready for a cold start tomorrow morning, as temperatures dip down into the upper 30s. interior east bay and north bay, where we're recovering nicely will mild temperatures tomorrow and will hold on to this weather pattern into mid-week, and after that, get ready for a big change, colder weather, and also the rain will return to the bay area as we head into thursday night and friday.

there's a look at the lows tonight. 49, san francisco. livermore, 42. and the next couple of days, don't look for a lot of changes as high pressure continues to build in. look at this nice ridge that is developing here. pushing the storm track to the north. it will stay there for the next several days, so expect sunshine, and mild temperatures by wednesday, and after that the system will start to break down. a cold low in the gulf of alaska and that's going to bring in more rain for us thursday night and friday, and also much colder temperatures. here's a look at the highs for monday. 66. 66 for san jose. 60, half moon bay. mid-60s for palo alto, mountain view, redwood city. san francisco tomorrow, maybe a little fog. overcast to start and afternoon clearing. accept rosa, 67. oakland tomorrow, 66.

65 for fremont. some of the valley areas, maybe a touch of fog tomorrow morning but should burn off rapidly. concord, 66. and 63 degrees tomorrow for santa cruz. the next several days, a little change. temperatures by tuesday near 70 across some parts of the bay area, and then check it out. friday, saturday, sunday, cold, showers return. daytime highs in the mid-50s, ands night might even experience low snow levels. we'll keep close eye on that. it's getting close. >> breaking news out of the south bay right now. the milpitas library is being evacuated after someone inside complained of a strange odor. the fire department is on the scene right now, trying to figure out where that odor is coming from. they're call calling for the evacuation of a couple hundred dread people as a precaution.
