way put it. we are on half an hour early because a police raid at occupy oakland may be i am innocent. i'm eric thomas. >> and -- and i'm kristen sze. we have live team coverage. katie is at snow park. we begin with amy hollyfield near frank ogawa plaza. >> reporter: good morning. the protesters have received word that police are coming. they've done what they can to make it tough forever them to get in. look at the intersection at 14th and broadway. a huge crowd so big that you can't get through. this is where police showed up the last time they cleared out this camp, they parked here. now you can't get through. the crowd has been playing music all night. sometimes they stop the music and bust out into a chant about how they are not going to go. earlier yesterday,

protest given their third notice to leave the plaza. the notice was a little different. it declared that every other major park in oakland is off limits to occupy camper. the protesters ignored the notices, they are still here. if or when police do come to clear out these activists it is going to be expensive. the sheriff's office told us this does not qualify for mutual aid any more. because they were let back after clearing them out before 0 they considered it a planned event. oakland -- oakland has call in 700 to 1,000 extra outside officers. this time, they are going to have to pay them. this could be the largest most expensive police action in oakland recent memory. if they are evicted this morning and all signs indicate it will be happening any minute. the protesters will meet again in afternoon at 4:00 at the main library. once they get there they hope

to plan a march and come up with a plan to take this plaza back. if they are he ed and cleared out this morning, look -- if they are evicted and cleared out this morning, looking like that will be the case, that doesn't mean this is over. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> meantime, dozens of protesters cammed out at snow park near lake merritt. the question is, if police break up the camp at city hall will they move in and do the same at snow park? katie marzullo continues our coverage. what is going on there? >> reporter: good morning. a much different scene several s away here at snow park. it is very quiet here almost all campers are still in their tents and sleeping. to the bay citizen mayor quan got together with leaders and organizers saturday and decided that campers could peacefully stay in snow park, temporarily while they looked

for another third location for occupy oakland protesters to stay legally. maybe 20, 30 folks came here to do that stay peacefully. we talked to a few this morning. one man say he was packing up and leaving because has a woman with him and his niece and he doesn't want to be part of any violence. another man says he was injured in the raid at frank ogawa plaza last time and he doesn't want anything to happen to his expensive tent so tee is going to leave this morning. >> it is a -- possibility i'll stay and be part of a march. but i can't afford to go to jail. i'm fighting for the cause and i'm not going to stop. >> reporter: as you know, snow park was raided after if plaza was raided in late october that fear is very real here. again, according to bay

citizen mayor quan has made arrangements for people to stay here, peacefully. it is still very early and has yet to be seen if there will be any kind of protest, march or conflict with police here. oakland police say the man shot and killed near the occupy oakland camp at fo plaza was one of the protesters. -- at frank ogawa accident was one of the protest. he often introduced himself as alex from richmond. he been living in the camp for several days before he was shot to death last thursday. witnesses say the two suspects were also frequent residents at the camp. both are still on the loose. this morning occupy san francisco protesters say there is no evidence to support police claim that protesters attacked two officers during a saturday march. a police captain told abc 7 that two of his officers were

slashed by somebody during the march one was cut on the hand when he tried to stop demonstrators from taking over an intersection. a second officer cut on the face while trying to retrieve his police radio taken by a protester. both of expected to recover. uc berkeley bracedding for a strike. -- bracing for a strike. calling for students and faculty to walk out. cal officials are investigating the methods used by campus police to break up last week's occupy cal protest. a professor whose hair was pull has file a complaint. it happened last wednesday at sproul plaza while police were trying to clear the launch tends and protesters. the list chief is reviewing video and interviewing witness to determine if any officers used excessive force and should be disciplined. we are going to continue to follow the latest on occupy eviction all morning the raid that could come at any time.

eight years ago. san francisco muni investigating a deadly pedestrian accident. a bus hit a man at mission fifth yesterday pinning him under one of the wheels. the pedestrian was jaywalking and crossed in front of the bus as it was pulling from a store. it took firefighters and police almost half an hour to lift the vehicle and pull the man out. the bus driver has been placed on leave during the investigation, which is standard procedure. two people recovering from burns they suffered in an apartment fire in san francisco flames spotted at a building yesterday morning. this is home video. you can see the flames firefighters used a last tkerd to -- ladder to get into that apartment. the fire appears to be accidental. 4:07. santa clara city leaders are expected to approve using millions in public funds on the new 49er stadium project. tomorrow the council will vote

>> reporter: i'm amy hollyfield live in oakland. we are watching the scene at occupy oakland police officers are -- first police officers just showed up at the scene. they are in their riot here appearing to be setting up a perimeter before they move in

on occupy oakland. we have a shot from sky 7 showing a large number of officers a few blocks away, gearing up to move in while the protesters are rallying in the streets, promising to protect and defend the camp. we'll have the latest coming up. of course the first thing police would do is block off intersections around frank ogawa plaza, so if you are driving the morning and normally take that area, you can't to stay away and make alternate plans. california highway patrol officer in serious condition after being shot during a traffic stop in sacramento county last night on highway 99 in elk grove. the suspect shot the officer twice then took off. officers tracked him down on the same highway and ended up shooting and killing him after he crashed the car and refuse get out. >> we heard a gunshot. a lot of clips too back and

forth. >> 99 was shutdown several hours while police investigated. the injured officer underwent surgery and is expected to survive. caltrans has fired two employees in the wake of an investigation questioning structural testing on the foundation of the new eastern span of the balanced budget. a technician responsible for the testing was disciplined for fabricating test results on other projects. caltrans officials were aware of technician's past. the chronicle reports the workers who have now been fired never thoroughly investigated the man's previous work. there's now a federal investigation into some of those falsified reports. caltrans says there is no indication of irregularities in testing of the new span. an investigation is underway. 4:14. we are keeping an eye on developments at occupy oakland. protesters are poised right now for a showdown with police.

pictures from sky 7 hd near frank ogawa plaza in oakland where police are beginning to gather. we've been telling you that drum beats have been growing all night that oakland police might raid the encampment there. they are gathering a large group, protesters and police seem to be too. jonathan bloom is live at 14th and broadway to tell us more. >> reporter: the crowd just a few seconds ago got very, very quiet now the drum beats have resumed. everybody is gathered here in the middle of the intersection. a lot of makeshift gas masks, helmets, skate s, sort of a waiting game now. -- no real police activity going on there seems to be the general rumor that police activity could happen any moment. everyone gathered waiting for

a confrontation obviously not any traffic age to flow on 14th or broadway this -- able to flow on 13 or bring broadway. people are telling us what they are about to do is assault. you can see on this gentleman in front of me he has a gas mask. looks like an israeli military gas mask he appears to be ready for confrontation with the tear gas canisters. a lot of people here with cameras, signs. no confrontation with police as of yet. a lot of people seem like they are ready for one at this point in time. it is kind of a waiting gaping -- waiting game. >> we'll be checking back in, thank. there are no injuries and little damage but a lot of rattled nerves reported after another strong earthquake in indonesia. the 6.3 quake hit last night.

because he had immunity as president. now he's out of office and out of excuses. world leaders with the asia pacific -- have wrapped up their annual summit in hawaii. president obama will be attending a fundraiser there today before returning to washington. asia pacific leaders declared support to further freeing up trade saying it is crucial to a lasting global economic recovery. mr. obama spoke about the region and how it is now the vanguard for global growth. >> the president: many of our top trading partners are in this region. this is where we send most exports, [ unintelligible ] this is the world's fastest growing region the asia pacific is key to -- [ unintelligible ] >> the president says it is time for china to move quicker to get its currency in line with the market-based system.

burning man. organizers are going to sell tickets under a lottery system. after the first sell-out in the events 26 year history they hope the new system will eliminate a rush to buy tickets online. they drew a record 54,000 this past year, 4,000 more than allowed under its permit. makeover for ocean beach could include changes to the great highway including narrowing the road south of slope boulevard. the city is planning an urban research association master plan draft suggesting rerouting the road at boulevard where the city has been struggling for years with blowing sand on the great highway as well as erosion problems. in july the california coastal commission rejected the city's permit request to add more rocks to protect the bluffs. community members feel the city has failed to strike a balance between conservation and maining the infrastructure
