san francisco edition of "the new york times" this coming week. this is basically the port of oakland's push to keep the port open next monday. that is when "occupy oakland" demonstrators are planning action here at the port. >> a cargo ship makes its way into the fifth largest dockyard in the country it's the shaping gate away for the bay area so the port board of commissioners is pleading to the entire bay area for support. >> it's important for us to communicate to our communities, locally and regionally, that we need their help, we need their support. we want them to understand that shutting down oakland's port shuts down jobs. >> when the port was shut down november 2nd, it cost the port hundreds of thousands of dollars, but the costs go beyond that. at the time of the shutup she was in a trade conference in africa and had to answer questions from international customers. >> people are concerned, is oakland safe place to be. so we work hard with our

"occupy" oakland organizes behind the port shut crowne dismiss the public regses push. >> there's always an argument against any strike or work stoppage, and that argument usually comes from the folks with the money. >> unlike november's day of action which did see some union support, next monday's planned picket does not have the support of the longshore workers union. the president of the union released a strongly worded statement about the planned shutdown. any decision made by groups outside of the union's democratic process do not hold water regardless of the intent. obama oakland says they're coordinating with other "occupy" groups for what they hope will be a blockade on the west coast.

protesters who are refusing to dismantle a wooden structure in a d.c. park. they began building yesterday but were told they need a permit. when protesters refused to take it down, the police moved in officers in a cherry picker are still trying 0 to remove protesters from the top of the structure, a dozen people have been arrested. >> a petition to recall oakland mayor jean quan may soon be hitting the streets. the oakland tribune reports a signature from the city clerk's office is all that is needed for the petition to recirculate. this follows a massive outcry to the police response to the obama oakland encampment. more than 19,000 sits would be needed to qualify for the november 2012 ballot. the mayor says she wouldn't give up her position as mayor without a fight. >> the mayor's possible recall is month the hot topics on our facebook page. la toya writes, let's get that

starting tomorrow your tap water could be looking a little cloudy. it's only temporary but residents could see milky or white water from the tap. it's routine maintenance on the water from the hetch hetchy. it should return to normal by january 7th. >> utility officials called in an expert to investigate the water main break that flooded a south san francisco neighborhood last month. the investigation could take up to three weeks. the 12-inch line broke, sending water into the air. the pipe was a feeder line connected to a larger five-foot main. both lines were recently replaced. >> gas prices are actually dropping. the average price of a gallon of gas is now 3.29. that's down nine cents over two

weeks. the statewide average is 3.54. san francisco has the most expensive gas in the nation at 3.67. the cheapest gas in the nation is in new mexico. >> apple lost a court battle when a federal judge refused a request to block samsung from selling certain smartphones and tablets in the u.s. apple claims those items infringe on their patentses. apple has sued samsung in ten countries. courts in other countries ruled in apple's favor. >> san francisco police and 49er fans teamed up today to brighten holidays for needy kids across the city. volunteers collected toys and cash from fans at candlestick park for operation dream. operation dream provides toys and other gifts for children living in san francisco's public housing projects.

the embarcadero, san francisco, and we have clear skies right now, folks. the exception, a little woas -- west wind right now, bringing low fog and clouds near ocean beach, heading near the golden gate. the winds will be shifting to more offshore so have to deal with the fog tomorrow. currently chilly out there, 43, clear in napa, 53 in oakland, 49 degrees right now in livermore. you have clear skies as well in san jose. here's a look at the highlights taking you through the work week, becoming windy overnight. mainly the higher elevations of the hills this evening. sunny and breezy for your monday, and then get ready for dry conditions, the dry weather pattern will be with us all week along. here's the setup for the next wind event tonight. high pressure bringing us dry conditions but it's going to be this low here, and it's dropping south, setting up just to the east of us.

air flows from high pressure, into low pressure, and that's what's going to be the triggering or the mechanism that will help to set up that tight pressure gradient, which means the winds will start to increase tonight. northeasterly over the hire hills across the bay area, developing tonight and on monday. we have a wind advisory in effect 10:00 tonight. through 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, and the main areas will be north bay mountains, east bay hills and the diablo range, winds northeasterly, 20-25 miles-per-hour, and occasional gusts in the higher locations near 50 miles-per-hour. possibility of downed trees, and possibility of downed powerlines. this is going to be a weaker wind effect -- event from what we had last week. nonetheless, get ready for those gusts to pick up. as far as lows tonight, kind of
