>> a life cut short by violence is extending the life of another. good evening and merry christmas. a man is recovering at a san francisco hospital after getting an organ transplant. one of several people who received an organ from charles butler who was shot to death three days ago in oakland. on this christmas his dispreppedz -- friends and family are celebrating the young man. >> the liver transplant surgery began this morning at 7:45 and continued for six hours. while the surgery was in progress here in san francisco, a church congregation in richmond was paying triebt to charles butler,, jr. >> at 23 years old, he was looking forward to a future full of adventure. he had just been awarded hismer

anonymous members say the goal is to use the credit data to steal a million dollar and give it away as christmas donations. this afternoon the web site was down with the message it's undergoing maintains. anonymous claims its targets are the u.s. army, air force, police departments, banks and giants such as microsoft. one group obtained more than 90,000 credit card numbers. it says it was able to get the details because strategyford didn't crypt them. >> a busy day for sans francisco police and firefighters who handed out toys to girls and boys across the city. they met this morning to pick up nearly 10,000 toys checked. then officers and firefighters made special deliveries to underprivileged children across the city. >> when i pulled up and opened the car door, they were all shocked and happy and jumping up

a cold morning. overnight lows in the 20s most areas. it's not going to be as cold tonight. in fact, overnight lows drop off into the lower 30s, most areas barely seeing freezing temperatures overnight. more of an onshore flow developing. weak front moved through, and light precipitation in oregon and washington. we didn't see any of that. just a few cloud today, and this ridge starting to break down, allowing more of an onshore flow, humidity starting to increase and that's going to keep our temperatures more mild, you can say, at least no 20s out there overnight, and no freeze warnings to talk about. so good news there. fairfield, light freeze in valley areas, and still a "spare the air" in effect for this evening. probably noticed the haze still out there. so, for your monday, things are looking pretty good. in fact kind of like today. we'll see sunshine and temperatures back up in the mid-to-upper 50s most areas. me a break a 60 or two here and

in to hours the warriorstive off against the clippers. right now it appears golden state will be wow steph curry who is nursing a sprained ankle. the warriors dominated the clippers at home but this is a totally different team now with chris paul and blake griffin. this marks the debut of mark jackson. >> a lot of excitement, obviously. you get a dynamic player like chris paul, in a trade, certainly makes you the talk of the town. so it's an exciting time, and a lot of people are anticipating great things from both teams. that's as far as it goes. going to be a great opportunity for us to play against a team that's going to create some challenges to our defense come christmas night, and we're looking forward to it. >> the lakers did not get chris paul, but as long as they have

kobe bryant, they're going to contend. today they squared off against the bulls. kobe was playing despite a torn ligament in miss right wrist. lakers up by six with less than 1:00 to go. the bulls wouldn't go away. deng to the foul, plus the foul. they cut it to one. then off a kobe turnover, rose hits the floater. he had 22. bulls by one with 4.8 seconds left. last chance for the lakers. they good to kobe but his shot is blocked. the bulls win a thriller. >> the celtics had to take on the knicks without paul pierce. rondo tries to pick up the slack. a team-high 31 points and 13 assists. the knicks counter with carmelo anthony. he had a career-high 37. with time running out, new york by two boston has one last chance but kevin garnett's jumper is off the mark.

the knicks win, 106-104. >> in dallas, the defending champs took on miami. this rematch of last season's finals turned out to be more of a mismatch as the heat took control early. james to boesch for the jam. miami by 21 at the break. the lead would grow to as much as 35. lebron with the clutch pass to wade. lebron has six assists, ten rebounds, and an opening-day record 37 points. 104-59 was the final. the score does not indicate how lopsided this game was. >> thank you so much. what's
