gun violence. the five-year-old boy was shot while standing outside a taco truck. >> reporter: the five-year-old boy shot. his parents in tears at children's hospital. the shooting happened here at the taco truck on international and 55th, shortly after 8:30. man's mother-in-law works at the truck. >> she was working with the little boy's mom and the dad was with the little baby outside the taco truck. and i guess somebody just passed by and started shoeing at the taco truck. >> police are looking for a man and a woman in a silver pontiac. his mother-in-law wasn't allowed to leave the scene so she called her family. >> she called us crying. she said someone shot her boss's son. >> he can't believe this is happening again. >> the same thing happened on 65th. the little boy killed, same thing happened. >> he's talking about three-year-old that was shot and killed in august.

24-year-old esteban was indicted two weeks ago following a grand jury hearing. prosecutors said she was jealous because li dated her old boyfriend. she sent text messages to her exand then followed her to the garage. that's where she was killed. her body was found in a field. pg&e comes clean and admits to violating federal law. the san francisco chronicle reports pg&e told state regulators friday they lost crucial guide maps needed to do mandatory safety inspections on nearly 14 miles of pipeline. regulations require them to be inspected every five years but with no maps some went nearly 22 years without being checked. as a result, 22 leaks found earlier this week. they were previously ignored areas such as pittsburgh, brentwood and concord. banana sam is still on the lamb. security was stepped up in light of the tiny monkey's disappearance thursday. there's still no sign of him.

sam weighs only two pounds and is just is it 11 inches long. they report there was real concern over his health and safety. >> there are about 20 squirrel monkeys at the san francisco zoo. banana sam is not one of them and only his thief or thieves know what happened. >> it's tragic he might be by himself. it's very important we get him back and get him back to his family group. >> somebody cut the chain on an outside fence, walked up to the back of the monkey exhibit and cut their way into the area where the zoo said there's no surveillance cameras. >> at this time we don't know what the motive is. it could be an animal rights group, for all we know, it could be someone who wants to make a profit off the animal. >> on the web we had no trouble finding squirrel monk kiss for sale. ranking from $5,000 to several thousand dollars. having pet monkeys is legal in some states, but not in california. although we found some for sale

streets of l.a. and it has nothing to do with new year's eve. they are trying to prevent a serial arsonist from striking again and there are new reports of arson this morning. several more cars burned in suspected arson attacks this morning. at least 121 car fires were set yesterday before dawn in and around west hollywood. most were started in parked cars. several turned into major fires and one destroyed a home once lived in by doors front man jim morrison. no injuries reported. there's a $35,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the arsonist. firefighters in carson city, nevada are hoping winds will die down this morning as they battle a 300-acre brush fire. about 20 homes were threatened yesterday afternoon when the fire first broke out. at one point there were voluntary evacuation. it is unusual to have a brush fire in carson city this time of year. the capital, just east of lake tahoe, is often under a layer of snow in december.

we will be looking for these areas to improve as the sun comes up. another hour to hour and a half with the foggy conditions, then that will lift and we will see high pressure take command and that will allow for temperatures to warm up this weekend. dry and mild into the beginning of next week. we have a couple weak weather systems moving over this ridge of high pressure that's building on in. but this has been a series of wind shifts and higher clouds, and those freezing nights. that's been the trend for december. it kind of looks like we are getting back into that, at least for the short term. here's a look at the high clouds. you will notice over california and some mid-level clouds to the north and west of us. but this all changes as this frontal band that went through yesterday continues to sink to the south. the high builds in to flex the cloud cover and the storm systems to the north. it allowing for the clearing trend. so we are looking at a slight offshore flow today. that will allow for temperatures

it's 32 novato, 36 napa. we are in the upper 20s here for the time being. 38 live more with fremont coming in at 45 and oakland 45 degrees. still the fog is a problem with quarter mile visibility in some spots. it's improved in oakland. it was at a quarter mile, now hayward still looking at the foggy conditions, as well as novato, napa, and typically out by the delta where we have the fog. overall we are looking at partly cloudy skies this morning. temperatures will continue to warm up over the weekend with the sun, and we will look for dry and mild conditions into next week. so yesterday's frontal band just brought a couple hundredth inch of rain around the bay. and we are looking at the remnants of some moisture over the bay area in terms of higher dewpoints, some clouds, and the cold front continues to sink to the south, fall apart. and high pressure builds in in its wake. as it does, it will continue to

it take to get rid of a two dollars convenience fee? answer, 50,000. how long does it take? less than a day. yesterday they announced the customers would have to pay two dollars if they made a one time payment on the phone or online. lots of customers got mad. the 22-year-old got busy. >> it's just like one more fee that kind of sent me over the edge again. >> in less than two hours she got more than 50,000 signatures on her online petition that red -- read verizon thinks it can do anything to their customers and we are powerless to stop it. spoiler alert, we're not. >> i felt like it was another ridiculous fee by verizon. i thought it was insane they were trying to charge people to pay their bills online. >> if molly looks familiar, it's because this isn't the first time she's gone up against a big company. she launched the petition against bank of america earlier this year when they tried to introduce a five dollars monthly

fee for using a debit card, carrying the petitions into the bank herself. she won that fight, and late today she chalked up another victory. verizon wireless announced at verizon we take great care to listen to our customers and dropped the planned $2 fee. >> i was actually surprised how quickly they dropped the fee. i thought it would be another month-long fight like it was at bank of america. >> the signatures are still coming in. now more than 100,000. looks like the company with the slogan "can you hear me now" heard its customers loud and clear. >> lindsay davis, abc news, new york. >> don't go away, on your side is next. >> more and more retailers want to e-mail you a receipt.

outfitters. >> five years from now, based on what we are seeing and retailers are seeing i think it will be ubiquitous. >> keith is ceo of seamless receipts of new york makes the software for paperless receipts. he says it let's shoppers organize their records and gives retailers a new way to reach out to customer. >> it's an opportunity for retailers to hook the customer and either comeback for another purchase or go back to the website. >> he said 30 to 50% of customers say yes when offered the e-mails but is it a good idea for you to give a retailer your personal information just to get a receipt? some customers we talked to said it is. >> i think it's easier to keep track of. i can make a file on my computer. >> it's definitely greener and i don't like wasting papers. >> others see it as an invasion of their privacy. >> i politely decline and say no you can't have any phone number or e-mail address. >> you may see your e-mail box

flooded with promotions, but most allow you to opt all or going an extra step of calling customer service. they said receipts themselves can be a marketing tool. the urban outfitters receipt links customers to their store catalog. banana republic lets customers click to "like" the store on facebook. some say it's too much interaction. >> i don't need my e-mail account getting clogged up with save 20% here or save 20% there. >> the technology is just starting to get adopted. so we aren't necessarily seeing the long-term implications or how that technology could be abused later. >> however, the electronic frontier foundation there's concern that hackers could get a hold of your personal shopping records. >> our financial transactions are often very sensitive. we may purchase things from

>> here's some winning numbers from last night's $12 million mega-millions drawing. 4, 24, 45, 46, 52. the magic number is 1. nobody picked all six so the jackpot is going to rise to at least $15 million to start off the new year. and what are the odds? a san francisco man who vowed to stop playing the lottery wound up winning a whopping $1 million with, get this, his very last scratch-off ticket. the man identified only as javier v. played the $250 million cash spectacular at a doughnut shop on mission street. he claimed quitting the lottery was his new year's resolution and never in his wildest dreams did he imagine he would win such a payoff after playing one last time. or maybe he will be playing some more now that he's got some extra cash. an 11-year-old redwood city girl is into the holiday spirit this season, working hard to collect more than 600 coats for the homeless. amy hollyfield has the story.
