a house fire since 2:30 this morning. take a look at these flames. when they first arrived at 42nd avenue and balboa street, fire crews reported seeing flames shooting out of a second story window. there is no word yet on any injuries as fire crews are still busy trying to get this under control. we will bring you more information as it becomes available. this morning 49'ers fans are waking up celebrating. the team is now just one win away from going back to the super bowl for the first time in 17 years. the 49'ers advance to next sunday's nfc championship game, defeating the new orleans saints in a thriller yesterday. after jumping out to a 17-0 lead, the 49'ers found themselves trailing 32-29, saints, with just a minute thirty-seven left in the game but the niners were not done. with just nine seconds left, alex smith hits vernon davis for

a 14-yard touchdown to give the 49'ers one of the most dramatic wins in franchise history. 36-32, a victory. >> right now, i mean, it feels like the best. it really does. like i said before, i can't recall a win like this in this kind of spectacular fashion as this by our football team. and a great team win. live or die in these games. we live. we move on and we move on in spectacular fashion. >> so today the 49'ers will find out who they will play one week from today. if the packers beat new york, the niners will be in green bay. but if the giants win, the 49'ers will host the giants at candlestick park. mike shumann will have all the highlights and player reaction a little later in sports. 49er fans have waited a long time for a postseason victory.

abc7's lillian was at candlestick park when they poured out of the stadium after the game. >> a niner woman fan left candlestick in tears. >> they won! they won in 14 seconds! i thought we were losing. they won! >> this year a ticketholder of 49 years is very happy. >> it's great. after nine years of not even making the playoffs, this is right up with the catch. >> they felt pretty confident about most of the game until, of course, the final moments when the saints took the lead for the first time. the close game had everyone on pins and needles. >> i thought we were just going to tie up the game and go overtime, but i was happily surprised. the greatest game that we had in a long time. >> kirsten of sacramento is taking credit for the niners victory. she left the stadium in the fourth quarter. >> it's bad luck for me to watch

the fourth quarter. i always step out of the room if we are at home or leave if i am here and they win. >> so you are the reason they won? >> i'm the reason san francisco made it there. >> there were a handful of fans that got carried away in all the excitement. police arrested a few people in this crowd for fighting and public drunkenness. overall they made 19 misdemeanor arrests. slightly higher than arrests usually made. >> the game was sold out and some of the earlier games were not. >> there's a lot of excitement around the playoffs and so forth. a lot of people partying a little too hard and getting out of hands. >> there were no questions fans will savor this win until next week's nfc championship although many are thinking beyond that. >> many niner fans are saying they want to take it one game at a time about but they can't help thinking about the niners in the super bowl. >> we are going to the super bowl. all them doubters, the west coast is coming back! the west coast! niners! >> in san francisco, lilian kim, abc7 news.

>> in oakland an anti-police march by occupy protestors remained peaceful last night. just two arrests compared with six last weekend. police warned business owners that demonstrators may try to damage property or provoke confrontations. in fact a facebook posting encouraged those tactics. but that march that started at 8:00 with about 125 protestors through downtown lasted several hours with no reports of damage or injuries. the arrests came when demonstrators tried to push a dumpster into the police to try to block police from following the march. abc7 has more. business owners and operators here in the section known as old oakland along washington street have been dreading another fight of f the police marchers and vandalism. the group already affected new businesses in the area. >> it kills business. who wants to come down when there's fires in the street and there's people essentially standing in front of a wall of 80 cops?

i mean, it's not the police's fault. the police officers are doing what they have to do. >> the voice belongs to a business owner who fears broken windows if he's identified. the same for another owner a block away. he had to make extra precaution yesterday >> the first order is to make sure my customers are safe. i close the doors, i make sure whoever is inside is safe. i get everyone away from windows. that's my first priority, to make sure everyone is safe. >> business owners believe customers who experience this kind of activity while dining will avoid the city in the future. >> i had 30 people who watched a little war zone, so to speak. they aren't coming back down here. they won't come back down to this neighborhood for years because they don't any what's going on. >> what is going on is group set saturday night as the night to confront police with whatever they deem necessary to get their point across. their chant is "f the police" and they wrote it on downtown sidewalks at the plaza which destroyed residents.

>> you bring violent and negativity toward them, they retaliate with their job. even though their jobs may be a bit extreme. but this is the same job that keeps us safe. >> none of us are going to be happy or safe anytime soon. these kinds of things, they really just kind of disrupt life for everybody, for the common man. >> abc7 news. >> last night's protest in oakland followed an earlier one in san francisco where demonstrators occupied the roof of a bank. police arrested five protestors when they finally kim down from the wells fargo bank in the mission district. they were calling for an end to home foreclosures. a larger event is planned for this coming friday. one man is dead, another seriously injured this morning after a traffic collision that closed northbound highway 85 in los gatos. sky 7-hd was over the scene near winchester boulevard yesterday afternoon. it happened just before 4:00,

forcing the chp to shut down all northbound lanes for two and a half hours. traffic had to be diverted off the freeway at winchester. a nine-year-old boy and a woman in south sacramento are recovering this morning from a pit bull attack. it happened around 10:00 yesterday morning after police say the boy walked into a backyard. sheriff's deputies say the boy was bitten in the arm and the head. a woman was also bitten when she tried to pull the dog off the boy. i don't know what to tell people. pit bulls are dangerous dogs. they aren't dogs to be played with. i definitely don't play with them. people need to make sure they keep their dogs secured and registered. >> animal rights group say most animal aggression stems from the way owners treat their dogs. deputies destroyed is that dog after it tried to jump a fence. so far no charges have been filed. the boy is hospitalized with what is described as a severe injury to his arm. >> just ahead, the amazing story

of survival on the luxury cruise liner that ran aground off the coast of italy. and anaheim police say they are extremely confident they have the man responsible for the murdering of four homeless men in orange county.

the railing and the boat tipped sideways and fell and swung and everybody is screaming. >> they faulted the crew for incompetence, but most were saved and evacuated to a nearby island. the 950-foot costa crociere was on an 8-day mediterranean cruise. for many it felt like an eternity. on board were 126 americans. all were believed to have survived. a man arrested for one transient's murder in anaheim is likely to be charged with three more murders this week. anaheim's police chief said he believes his detectives have enough evidence against a 23-year-old man to charge him as a serial killer. four homeless men have been stabbed to death in orange county since december 20th. the suspect was arrested friday night after witnesses chased him, following the fourth murder behind a carle's junior's restaurant. police are not discussing the evidence they have against him. bart and caltrain will be

running so-called freedom trains tomorrow to celebrate the martin luther king jr. holiday. a specially chartered train will leave deerdon station at 9:30 tomorrow morning. it will make three stops on its way up to peninsula to san francisco. but don't try to buy your tickets from caltrain. freedom train tickets are sold by the dr. martin luther king, jr. association of santa clara valley. bart will also be offering 5,000 freedom train flash passes for event organizers to distribute. riders from both systems will take a short walk to san francisco's center for northern california's largest celebration. >> so the rain is coming but not tomorrow? >> no. they have to have jackets of course, and today as well. numbers taking a dip. in fact, as much as 10 to 15 degrees cooler in some spots. our camera showing the golden gate bridge. it is a little breezy and still

system should bring it further south. a couple systems here affecting our ridge of high pressure that tense to loosen its grip across the eastern pacific. so with this flat ridge in place, we are still dry. but it against to slide off to the east. that will allow this cold front to sweep on through today. some higher clouds from the system to the south of us. so really the entire state feeling the changes today. it's about time. hope you enjoyed the mid-and upper 60s as the system slides on through it will bring the cooler air mass, the gusty northwest winds. so for the bay area, just definitely a chill to the air. but for the sierra nevada we are talking about some pretty windy conditions and a fire weather watch in effect. in fact, winds up to 55 miles an hour until 7:00. the possibility of fire danger with relative humidity only between 6 and 12% today. state-wide it's cooler everywhere. 49 in the southern sierra.

there's a lot of excitement in the central valley community of patterson about what could be a big economic boost. patterson is six square miles and it's right off i-5. a new facility that's apparently being built there would bring much-needed jobs and tax revenue. abc7's laura anthony reports. we are beside ourselves with joy over this project. >> patterson city leaders are calling it project x. a deal that could bring a major international company to their little town. >> and why all the secrecy? >> that is the request of the end user. and while they finalize their details they prefer to have some privacy in the matters. >> citing a confidentiality agreement, city leaders won't of won't divulge the name of the facility. but it's wide speculation it's amazon. >> first it will bring thousands of jobs to california. >> last september governor jerry brown cut a deal with amazon to delay collecting online sales tax in california if they

created 10,000 new jobs in the state. the unnamed patterson center would bring in 1500 jobs. a boon for a town with an unemployment rate approaching 21%. >> the agricultural base of our economy has always brought along with it a lot of seasonality and a lot of unemployment. we've been working hard as a city to diversify our economy the last years. >> he is excited about the jobs. >> $14 to $18 an hour, how does that sound? >> i think it's great. it's like $14, 18 bucks here is about equivalent to 20, $30 in the bay area. >> the new distribution center will join several others already in patterson like cvs and kohl's. it will offset expected job losses. this week the 48-year-old patterson vegetable company announced it may close next month. >> in the same week we are hearing about this, we've got

four companies that announced they are planning to shut down or reduced employment to the tune of 750 employees. it ebbs and flows and comes and goes. >> if this deal is finalized in the coming weeks, it is expected to move very quickly. we understand this company wants to have this distribution center open by september of this year in time for the holidays. as for whether it's definitely amazon, all i can tell you is that company did not return our calls for commented. in patterson, laura anthony, abc7 news. >> the postal service' announced new service hours yesterday at 61 postal offices in six bay area counties. the new hours will take effect february 20th with most branches opening 30 minutes to an hour later. it's all part of cost-cutting measures that include shutting down 3700 post offices across the u.s. some people with disabilities are suing red box.

they say the movie rental service discriminates against the blind. here is abc7s vic lee with the story. >> i have 2200 hits over two hours? >> 22,000. >> many movies like the social network are dialogue driven. they are movies that the visually impaired can enjoy. >> you can really enjoy large aspects of the narrative without needing to be able to see the visual aspect of the movie at all. >> friends and family can also help. >> if there's kind of a nonver pal part of the movie happening, they will describe what is happening to me. >> maybe a dvd goes in here? it looks big enough. >> but the kiosks of the video rental giants are difficult, if not impossible, to use for those blind and visually impaired. >> they have no tactile buttons or screen reader that would allow blind people to navigate their way through the kiosk. >> lisa and michael are almost totally blind.

more than once fish and game found what they were looking for, a string of illegal pots from one boat. they came up with identification and laden with crab. >> it set in the closer as being actively fish. has fresh bait and crab in it. >> that's the game warden. >> he threw the crabs back after photographing them but that's not all he did. >> we are going to launch your boat and come on board, all right? >> boarding is routine. violations don't simply materialize. inside the three mile limit, fish is game goes looking for them. >> let me check out your crab. >> here is where the crew's good day of fishing turned bad. measurements showed 2 of the 20 crabs they caught were undersized. >> that one is a short. >> the boat owner told us he's fished all his life and this is the first time he's ever been cited. >> what happened? >> somebody didn't measure the crab. >> with the two man crew, that limits the mystery.

conditions today with a new parcel of air which promises to be the beginning of some changes that start on wednesday when rain heads our way. it's really going to take us through the weekend, it looks like. so we will definitely make a dent in our deficit that has been with us since december and january. so two systems now you can pick out from our pacific satellite picture. a low spinning off the coast of california bringing a few clouds around. also an upper level low to the north and west of us. this will continue to slide to the south and east as high pressure gives way. that will allow for the on shore flow early on. then stiff northwesterly winds later on today. so actually when this pushes on through, the winds are going to dial back. monday night is expected to be one of the coldest nights we will see in quite some time. we've been in the 20s. we could see some low 20s as things really begin to get more calm around here. so here's a look at the forecast then for today with high
