>> carolyn: good morning, i'm carolyn tyler. we are getting an exclusive look this morning at the mess occupy oakland demonstrators made inside city hall last night. nearly 300 protestors were arrested during a niet day and night of confrontations with police. sergio, the mayor took you on a tour of the damage. >> reporter: good morning.

they did give us a first look of the damage that was done by people that forced their way into city hall. a lot of damage is restricted to a broken window and papers strewn throughout the lobby area and graffiti and also the california and american flags were taken out to the front of the city hall and burned. last night, the mayor and her staff said they are tolerance for violence, occupy demonstrations in oakland has come to an end. >> city hall were was a target of the demonstrators when a few people forced their way in and made a mess of the place. jean quan voiced her frustration. >> occupy oakland has to stop using oakland as the playground

and people in the occupy movement have to stop making excuses of this behavior. >> at the height of protests. demonstrators squared off with police. some tossed. and others tossed other things. as the day went on, several conflicts erupted like this one near 14th and broadway. i talked to one woman and she says the police are being too heavy-handed. >> i say protestors get upset but i think it's wrong. it's like a sledgehammer killing a flea or something. >> but city leaders are clearly at their wit's zblend i see basically in my opinion, domestic terrorism and it starts costing the city incredible amount of resources.

>> one of the groups was the downtown ymca. they encircled another group outside. about 70 of them were arrested. they say they plan on holding and charging all of them. >> i would expect in the future, what happened in the level of violence and everything that proceeded on the internet all the tweets which they know we read. >> mayor quan tells me they do have surveillance video of people that were going into city hall and couple dozen people may made their way in. none were arrested because police were not able to get here too quickly. they were handling the situation that was going over in the ymca. 300 people were arrested last night. we are awaiting the full set of charges they are facing.

>> we have a photo taken by media partner "san jose mercury news" showing protestors burning the american flag taken from city hall. the demonstrators issued an e-mail the occupation and act of constitutionally protected disobedience was interrupted by brutal police response. members of occupy san jose and occupy redwood city will protest at 2:00 in front of the chase bank at the west field valley field mall on stevens street boulevard. they are foreclouds go on two homes, one belonged to a 72-year-old woman. the san mateo county sheriff's office is looking for two men who stabbed four other men who had just left a wedding

reception in half moon bay. investigators say there were numerous witnesses outside the hall last night when two men, 18 to 20 years old approached the four victims and started arguing. it's not clear what the dispute was all about but ended with the four men being rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. deputies say they are expected to survive. investigators are hoping more witnesses will come forward with information about the suspect. this morning the 15-year-old son of a couple found dead in oakland is in custody. a suspect in their murders. the bodies of a 55-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were found in a car on friday night. earlier in the day they conducted a welfare check in the home after one of the residents failed to show up at work. six hours later they received another call. they returned to the house and

that is when they found the bodies. an 81-year-old woman is fighting for her life this morning after suffering a brutal attack yesterday. is she was beaten possibly sexually assaulted while going for her morning walk. >> the manager of this store in at 9:00 a.m., went to park his car a he saw a woman on the ground. >> when i asked her if she needed help. her face was swollen she had blood everywhere. she just nodded. >> richmond police arrived within minutes. >> she is in critical condition at a local hospital. at this point we're not sure if she is going to survive. >> the victim had to be airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. she lived here in the apartments for more than 15 years.

it's three blocks where she was found on the avenue. a neighbor said she went for early morning walks. >> so she walks very early. >> a friend of the victim is now frightened. >> i know it's dangerous to be walking early in the morning but now it's all different. you have to real careful. >> she is going to change her mother's routine. >> i'm not going to let her walk around anymore. >> police don't know the motive behind the attack. >> this could possibly a sexual assault. we're not ruling that out. >> the last word. women's woman is very critical condition. the area has has a lot of

traffic and is s asking any witness to give them a call. >> the first murder victim in san leandro is 15-year-old girl. they are searched for henry leow which is the father of the flein baby. oakland resident is believed to be driving a black escalade cadillac with black rims. they found the teenager with several stab wounds to her upper body. she has not been identified. >> a young man is in critical condition at san francisco general hospital this morning after being shot several times. it happened yesterday morning in visitacion valley. a man was found lying in the street at sunnyvale avenue. investigators have not released any information about a suspect. >> 9 catholic church is challenging the federal government over some 6,000 deportations in the bay area. hundreds of people went to

st. mary's cathedral protesting the arrest. made under a federal program. it requires law enforcement officers to share information about the people they arrest with the federal government. the goal is to deport criminals who are here illegally. >> we need to stand by but here in the city but we need a national policy. in the meantime, we have to take our own destiny in our own hands and realize this is a problem will that will not go away. >> church and supporters want the governor and pamela harris. they point out illinois and washington are among several states that have already adopted reforms. >> coming up next, battle for florida continues. a deadly crash after a light rail train slams into an suv.

end that is going to push on through the bay. that will allow for the higher clouds, chance of showers and that ridge to be knocked down. it's not going anywhere. it's going to reestablish itself and bring the fair weather throughout much of the week. later on this afternoon, higher clouds on the way, especially for the north bay, out ahead of it, wind shift keeping it nice and mild to warm across the state. 56 in southern sierra, 60s with dense fog. 71 in big sur, with mid-70s and winds especially have subsided here in southern california. so here is the way it looks throughout the rest of the afternoon. clouds increasing midday and afternoon, take a look at rain. 6:00 tomorrow morning, rain, mendocino county, napa, solano county and continues to slide south until about 8:00 we should see showers over by concord and

glass door on a window was shattered. nearly 300 protestors were arrested last night. the day begin when protestors marched on the closed convention they were met by police firing tear gas. demonstrators threw rocks and bottles at police. three officers were injured. protestors ran away and then regrouped at about 8:00 they swarmed a ymca where police had them surrounded. all of those demonstrators were taken into custody. it was a second group that broke into city hall and caused all that damage leaving oakland leaders outraged. >> occupy oakland has to stop using oakland as its playground. people in the community and people in the occupy movement have to stop making excuses for this behavior. >> i think basically in my opinion, what amounts to kind of

domestic terrorism when they start taking buildings and start costing the city incredible amount of resources. >> they blame the violence on police using heavy-handed tactics what they say was planned to be peaceful occupation of the convention center. police say the internet postings have been calling for acts of violence and vandalism for days. >> we have some more photos taken by our media partner, "san jose mercury news". as police attempted to remove protestors from city hall where the remnants of an american flag burned on the front steps. then this was the scene minutes before when a woman was pleading with protestors to not burn the flag but obviously they did so anyway. the pensions of employees who worked for state of california could look a lot different under the proposal to make them a hybrid pension plan. it's very controversial. nannette miranda has the story from sacramento.

>> reporter: under increasing budget pressure to change requirement benefits for state and local government workers the legislature is holding hearings on a hybrid plan which combines a 401-k type plan with public pensions. experts from around the country told california lawmakers how similar plans have worked in other states. 401-k plans, pensions are known as db's defined benefits. >> the dc allocation provides less of a return than what most people would get in a defined benefit plan. >> dc's have been unpopular with labor groups because of the volatility of the stock market. while the union is open to a hybrid plan and hopes whatever proposal comes out of committee doesn't rely on 401-k's because

of what many liters. >> they had less than 25 cents on the dollar. the 401-k experiment hasn't worked. >> but public pensions have been too generous. it's less than $30,000 a year. a lie bidder would relieve the state budget of crushing pension obligations. one expert testified, california may not achieve great savings because any new plan can only be legally planned to new hires. >> a hybrid doesn't necessarily produce any cost savings than any other plan. >> the hearing is what is expected to be a long fight. >> unions have too much say in this town. here is the reality. we can't fund education at the same time we're funding high speed rail and huge deficit. something has to give. >> govern brown has proposed a hybrid retirement plan but has

feet. yesterday we had the higher elevation winds, relative humidity much higher this morning. we are a little bit warmer and we had some fog earlier, but we are looking at our temperatures in the low 40s. feeling much more comfortable out there now. we will look for increasing had i clouds, 51 in san francisco. 57 in half moon bay. so we are looking at milder conditions to start. slightly cooler today due to the higher clouds and temperatures coming down a few degrees. also we'll see a bit of a westerly winds instead of northeasterly winds at the beginning. showers are possible mainly in the north and east bay. we have a pretty significant cold front to the north of us but the tail end will swing in through today. another one behind it that will bring increasing clouds and opportunity for north bay showers, monday and then again on wednesday.

but it's really not going to slide south. you won't notice the change in the south bay or even the monterey coast. higher clouds, numbers in the low to mid-60s, instead of mid to upper 60s. we should be around 58 in san francisco. five degrees above where we should be. 50s in the sierra. 56 in yosemite. 50 in northern sierra. 71 in big sur. winds have subsided here. they were quite dangerous the last couple of days. cloud cover in the north and each the bay. rain line looks impressive. early morning but by 6:00, it's going to start to fall apart. whatever little rain we're going to see sonoma, marin and napa by the time it continues to slide south into the east bay communities, not much left. the cloud cover will dissipate and more sunshine tomorrow afternoon. 65 in san jose. santa clara, 64 and lots of

sunshine earlier and few high clouds later on. 63 for san francisco today. in the north bay, you've got the haze around mount tam made for a pretty sunrise. 64 in santa rosa. 64 in berkeley today as you head further out. couple degrees warmer with mid-60s for livermore and 65 in danville. down around monterey. mostly sunny and temperatures near 70 degrees. chance of showers overnight into tomorrow morning, then partly cloudy rest of monday and tuesday. another chance in the north bay monday. thursday, friday and saturday, yeah, we are sunny and mild. some really cold around chicago. >> we need some real snow around there. >> this is your year, the year of the dragon you should reflect and rejuvenate and redirected. >> i got to noe go. common procedures. >> there is no fancy stuff. we don't show them how to do things that require microsurgery. we teach them basic fundamental, solid techniques that they can apply. >> he believes benefits are multiplied overseas and they share information among hospitals and countries. >> people talk from people from nigeria. >> and it's great knowing what the latest what is the most advanced and also to interact with world class surgeons who can give various insights about problems we face here. >> carolyn: and they say the surgeon is from sierra leon aside from the advanced
