>> terry: in the news this saturday morning, a string of taco truck robberies in oakland leaving mobile busy owners scrambling for protection. four fremont families are evacuated from their homes after water gushes from the hetch-hetchy water system. >> lisa: a little hazy, not much in the way of fog. 47 in san francisco. >> terry: i'm terry mcsweeney. more than a hundred bay area food truck operators plan to hold a meeting next week to figure out a way to protect themselves from robbers. tomas ramon shows us surveillance footage of thursday's attempt that turned into a gunfight. >> reporter: this is video from a nearby camera. in the foreground, 33-year-old is sweeping up the parking lot

with a family rubbing has done busy for 12 years. two men come into view. one with his arm extended is sean morris of oakland, accompanied by a 17-year-old. police say morris says give me what you got. he was shot once in the leg and returns fire. amazing both men have non-threatening wounds. >> we're not going to take this anymore. >> reporter: shelly is rising entrepreneurs. she says she doesn't condone vendors shooting back but they are being terrified being easy marks for bandits. >> they feel terrorized. >> many vendors fear this confrontation and some like arming themselves to be able to

fight back. >> he stood up. >> others are arming themselves with cameras. they wanted to be able to identify who robs them. he has mounted cameras after being robbed at gunpoint three times. he only speaks spanish. >> one time a man pistol bhipd my employee. >> let's work together to get cameras and allow them to get them in the trucks and the carts. let's work together to possibly get armed security for all of the trucks that work later. >> reporter: garza will hold an emergency meeting of all the vendors sometime next week. they hope to work out some kind of defense plan. >> terry: more violence to tell but in oakland. last night four people were wounded near international boulevard and 46th avenue.

that shooting came after a man was shot around 3:30 in the afternoon. it appears that victim was hit by several bullets. someone opened fire on a minivan and wounded two people at macarthur boulevard and hyde street. no arrests have been made so far in any of these shootings. >> four fremont homes remain evacuated this morning after water gushed from the hetch-hetchy pipeline system near 680. fremont fire spokesman tells us that a pipe valve was left open allowing water to shoot out. when the pipeline was put back into service the water flowed into at least six properties in the warm springs area. nobody was injured. the water was shot shut off about 30 minutes after the fire trucks arrived. fremont fire tells us the damage is mostly in garages and yards but it may have seeped into some homes. a bay area medical drama is playing out involving an

undocumented immigrant that need a kidney transplant. he claims a san francisco hospital has refused to perform life saving operations. >> reporter: 35-year-old oakland resident spent nine hours a day hooked up to his home dialysis machine. what he needs is a kidney. after being on the transplant list at ucsf for several years hearing finally reached the top of the list only to be told. >> that he couldn't get treatment because of his he is illegal. >> reporter: they can't comment on the case because of privacy laws but explains in a statement. ucsf does not reject potential transplant patients because immigration status. we are vigilant about ensuring the few available organs are

transplanted into patients with best opportunities for long term care and survival. >> that time we went there, he had a job and they didn't know. >> navarro recently lost his job with pacific steel when it was audited by customs enforcement. he still has insurance for now. it won't last. so an organization called just cause started a petition. >> they should have done it. there was no reason to do it. now, he is still covered no individuals have come out. >> several organizations are also on board. >> there are several organizations. >> in the meantime, he will continue his dial dialysis and hopes ucsf will give him a kidney. >> a judge has denied an emergency order that would have

allowed san francisco sheriff ross mirkarimi to see his young son. mirkarimi asked a family court judge to grant him visitation rights. he has not been allowed to spend time with his wife or two-year-old son since charged with domestic violence and child endangerment last month. the incident allegedly happened on new year's eve. the judge would not give mirkarimi immediate access to his family. the sheriff made this statement as he left court. >> i know -- i miss my son terribly and he misses me. i have to go. >> terry: his wife says he is favor of letting him see his son. the trial is set for february 2 22nd. >> we're getting a look at this morning at occupy protestors. a judge has ordered to stay away from city hall. stay away orders come after protestors broke in city hall and vandalized the building last

saturday. they requested the order because several protestors keep getting cited again and nothing seems to happen to them. the people that judge has issued the stair away orders and you see the names beneath their pictures. they have been charged with various crimes. they could be arrested again if they violate the order that tells them to stay away from the city hall unlessthey have official big there. the los angeles dodgers trying to get a lawsuit thrown out of court. they stow is the paramedic who lapse in order a coma after being beaten opening day in the parking lot. stow cannot prove an connection between there and his beating. he was hospitalized until october until he was moved to a rehab center. >> coming up next, the nation's leading breast cancer charity

>> terry: susan g.komern foundation did an about-face after days of criticism from people that had been supporters. to give planned parent mood hood money for breast exams but the change of heart may not alter the political fallout. >> bay area spokesperson is excited. now that the susan g. komen foundation reversed the decision to cut off funding to parenthood chapters around the country. >> we're thrilled about this decision, a key piece of what

they do is breast cancer screening. >> we've never been asked to fund planned parenthood. >> the execute director says they don't provide funding to planned parenthood in the bay area. >> we are not directly effected by the alleged policy was. >> reporter: earlier this week the national komen foundation created a firestorm saying that it would no longer donate money to planned parenthood. >> it's been a very rough few days. >> bay area komen board vice president says the local chapter just cutting planned parenthood from the beginning. >> it's been taken over by this. i think our reputation has been damaged. >> besides hundreds of angry calls, at least one organization has decided to give its $2800 donation to another nonprofit.

sierra, ten degrees in truckee. tahoe is at 14. they are hard at work making snow. mother nature should be helping out on tuesday bringing some snow not tot sierra nevada. bay area, rain, fog in hayward. this is emeryville. i are looking at sunny conditions and dewpoints just about the same as the temperature in parts of our east bay. that is why we're looking at some visibility down to 3 miles or so from livermore to hayward and another nice day today with numbers above average. 45 in oakland. 39 in napa. numbers continue to drop they have the past few hours. santa rosa dropping to 33 degrees. 37 in redwood city. chilly with a little bit of fog. mild again this afternoon. cooler monday into tuesday looking at pretty good rain headed our way.

satellite picture, water vapor vapor we have a huge ridge off the coast to the east of us. that is allowing for those offshore winds. not much in the way of fog. but visibility will be i am improving. air quality is moderate. this weather system is on the move. we will look for the weekend to stay dry and mild. by monday, some high clouds, cooler temperatures, this is 7:00 monday night into 9:00 monday night. the rain begins to move onshore. by midnight, moderate rain in the north bay. by 3:00 in the morning, looks like santa cruz. hopefully we'll see a good dose of rain heading our way. these things do change and we'll keep and monitor it for you. >> central valley low 60s. low 70s in los angeles.

in the state constitution essentially taking away collective bargaining ability. a new san jose study commissioned by the mayor says the police and fire departments are overstaffed and inefficient despite recent cuts. "mercury news" has details on the i.b.m. efficiency analysis. crime has fallen in san jose since 1980 and suggests to cut 300 to 400 police jobs. and hiring a private ambulance company. the mayor plans to review the findings before making recommendations to the city council. san jose's police and fire union are blasting the report. police union president calls it, quote, unsane. if you drive the bay bridge, major disruption in two weeks. caltrans is shutting down the upper deck as part of the construction of the new span.

trance important it is heather ishimaru explains the plan. >> reporter: the message signs are on, warning motorists westbound bay bridge will be closed all day presidents' day weekend. westbound closure will be from 8:00 friday night february 17th to 5:00 a.m. tuesday. 21. it's allow them to build a detour between the metering lights and the bridge. it shows the detour that will be in place until the new span opens next year. >> this is going to shift the westbound traffic approaching the bay bridge a little bit to the south just to clear enough room for work to be done on a segment of new bay bridge known as the oakland touchdown. >> there is a construction activity just east of the toll plaza. that work is unrelated to the detour or the bridge, rather it's unglamorous parking lot upgrade to go with the toll

this. by 8:00 monday night, just beginning to see light rain overnight on monday. moderate rain santa cruz mountains and north bay and it should wind down through the morning hours on tuesday. as for today, not much change with mid-60s in the central valley. low 50s in the southern sierra with 43 in lake tahoe. 59 in vegas. 73 in palm springs with mid and upper 60s from cupertino to campbell. 67 in los gatos. mountain view coming in at 66 lots of sunshine and low 60s. san francisco coming in at 63 for fan fest. three to four degrees warmer the further you go into sonoma county. with the offshore flow we get downsloping winds so some of the warmest numbers hire. but near east bay, pretty nice as well with 66 in oakland. fremont fog is lifting and a

in nevada. this wildlife video shows how they scare bears away from populated areas. but last august, they launched a bear hunt and allowed the use of dogs. it allows to shooting up to 20 bears but fewer were killed. >> we had 14 bears taken, nine males, five females. >> chris is with the nevada department of wildlife that caught 100 illegally baiting the bears. >> using apples. using bacon grease and also using an oil that would attract the bears. >> it has a huge public outcry. sam runs the bear league which helps tahoe residents with problem bears. she gets calls about hunters with guns. >> we had calls from people that were frightened, that were threatened. that were scared on the hiking trail. >> thoi shores is divided

between california and nevada. california has bear hunting for years but the range is huge. hunters tend to stay out of tahoe area. in nevada, most bears live in a small corner of the state right near tahoe. even though the nevada hunt is tiny compared to california. >> people in tahoe are very wildlife friendly. we live here because we want to live with the wildlife. >> dan: so nevada wildlife commission is considering a compromise. >> to maybe restrict the hunting in the tahoe basin to basically not have the hunting there. >> dan: one proposal calls for no hunting inside the tahoe rim trail. a group called no bear hunt nevada welcomes any limits on the hunt but say it should be farther from the lake. >> i think it's crazy. they are proposing the rim trail perform the boundary while 3

received a frightening notice. health net insurance was missing several hard drives containing medical records including his. >> they got everything they know to be me. >> millions more americans have received notices. one million play station customers found out hackers got in their account. thousands of city students learned their banking information stolen. >> state senator a law requires a company to notify if you if they lose your data. now, the law got stronger. >> we want to know was it my bank account or credit card. >> until now companies were not required to tell you much about a computer breach only it happened and you were involved. now under the new law they must give you more facts, like what information was stolen. when it was stolen and how to contact credit bureaus in case
