the blue shade indicates places where the land ice is being lost. red is where it's gaining. huge amounts of the planet's land ice, gray shers, -- gray sears and greenland and the ice caps are melting annually and contributing to sea level rise. some spots in the u.s., alaska and louisiana, could be hard-hit. south florida already is seeing it. >> during these stream holiday tide events it will be completely inundated with water from one waterway to another. >> studies indicate sea level rise in south florida from nine inches to two feet by 2060. officials here say plans have to be enacted now or seasons like this will become far more widespread. >> well, we haven't been getting a whole lot of rain but we have some now,. >> leigh: already starting to move in.

the live doppler 7hd very active right now. let me show you outside. east bay cam. you can see the lowering of the cloud deck there, and we started off this morning with brilliant sunshine. everybody e everyone got a chance to get out and about. and then in the afternoon hours the clouds began to thicken, and check out what is moving in right now. the live doppler 7hd picking up very moderate rain, a little to the west of petaluma, you can see novato, down towards -- over the golden gate bridge and near ocean beach there. we'll take you in a little bit close to this. this cell getting ready to move in the yellow and oranges denoting moderate rain. the east bay, richmond, towards berkeley, this cell just moved through you guys. it's headed towards walnut creek. concord reporting the rain, and seeing the rain starting to slip south toward the peninsula. los altos, wet pavement, and san jose and saratoga.

so we'll continue to see the rain band influenced, move in from north to south throughout the course of the evening. temperatures in the mid-to-low 50s and you can against a sense what to expect overnight. the southwesterly winds will pick up as well so breezy at times. morning showers tomorrow, follow by afternoon clearing. when we get on the back side of the system, that's when the northwesterly winds will pick up. so a windy day by tomorrow afternoon, especially at the coast, and then chance of off and on showers in our forecast. right on in through much of our work week. here is a look at the storm system. this is the nice sunshine we had earlier in the day. look how quickly those high and mid-level clouds moved in. this is the back edge of the front. it's due in here tomorrow morning. let's show you the timing. 6:00 tonight -- and this is just about right on where the rain is -- throughout the course of the overnight hours, we'll continue to see the rain bands move in.
