long and in to monday. let's check in what is going on right now. >> we have a live shot. this is traffic heading to the bay bridge. it's empty. 8:00 last night they closed everything but traffic is flowing through the maze. this is from the toll plaza looking at all the construction going on. you see camera is bouncing around a bit. lisa will tell us more about the wind conditions. eastbound direction, traffic is flowing. traffic out of san francisco to the east bay will be open all weekend. occasionally we'll see some muni buses come back to san francisco muni line 108 will be ruin on to and from treasure island. bart will have extra overnight service and transit service, they will be starting at bart stop. extra service for ferries out of the east bay and 108 line will be running out to treasure

island. >> terry: caltrans is due to give us a progress report about an hour from now. they say the closure went very well last night. it was no simple task to stop traffic at five different points. tomas ramon has more. >> reporter: bay bridge traffic started to slow to a trickle a little before 8:00. last car passed through almost exactly at 8:00. dozens of chp officers blocked off access to the bridge beginning about 7:30. they say the chp and motorists were listening to the warnings helped make this a smooth operation. >> there are so many different feeders in the bay bridge, it take up to an hour for chp to get the your. we had so little traffic tonight. we were able to cut it down to 12 minutes. >> dozens of workers are tearing up old asphalt to make the new approach. roadway will be moved to the south. >> i think a lot of people it

won't a difference. >> reporter: toll plaza is talking and no passenger vehicles anywhere to be seen. caltrans has complete control of the approach. there are now more than a hundred workers making the necessary changes to the roadway. the bridge will open again tuesday morning at 5:00 a.m. >> there is a potential we can go beyond the tuesday time frame. >> and it helps with routine many times and don't have to worry, did routine maintenance. >> this is the last one until labor day. >> caltrans says the crews will be working 24 hours a day to get the work done. they want to get it open as soon as possible perhaps earlier than tuesday morning. we talk about the impact of the bay bridge, numbers are always staggering. three-day closure will cost toll authorities more than $1.5

million but the bigger impact on people trying to get back and forth across the bay. live picture where the work is going on. golden gate bridge will be kept on open and fully staffed. bart is running trains hourly during overnight hours. don't see a whole lot of drivers on the golden gate bridge. a report from emeryville facing drivers. >> when it came time to close the westbound lanes to the bay bridge. the caltrans caravan was all over it diverting traffic. if you didn't make the deadline you had to find another way into an the city but for many people they came to the west oakland bart station. >> i totally forgotten. i was to meet a friend for dinner, oh, man, take a bart. it's easy. >> reporter: they are in good spirits despite forgetting about

pushes south. then partly cloudy, cool and breezy today. tomorrow, we'll see numbers still a little cool but than the warming trend guess underway. by the middle of next week, by tuesday we should be in the mid to upper 60s. live doppler 7-hd with very light returns, from 101 back westward around he wouldberg. we could run into an light rain up in the sierra nevada that could be a few light snow showers. it is weak, the frent and lots of snow in washington but really falling apart as it goes southward through the bay area. this is the first system this weekend that we're talking about. it is a weak one. we won't be looking for anything out of this. it was promised for another system to head our way tomorrow, but in the wake of this one, all

dinglasan. >> here is another live shot. you can see the construction crews getting ready for the lane shift that will be open tuesday morning. westbound section is closed. i wanted to show you another live shot from the toll plaza, a lot of activity going on right now heading towards the incline. eastbound direction is open all weekend. so don't forget that. also what is open, if you do head out to treasure island, muni will be able to get back into an san francisco. there is one lane open but you won't see much traffic heading into an san francisco from this area. also, to get around the closure you may want to consider mass transit, bart will be running limited service. no transbay service on after transit but they will be stopping at bart service and extra ferries. >> terry: if you plan on heading

out this holiday weekend, you should be prepared to pay. gas prices are skyrocketing. average price of gallon of gas has seen the highest increase in a year. state average is 3.95 and in san francisco, average price has hit $4 a gallon and in san jose and oakland is about the same. experts blame the higher prices on a reduced supply. several california refineries are shutting down for annual maintenance as they switch to summer blend of fuel. crude oil prices have soared because of concerns about iran. president obama is back in the nation's capitol this morning after doing a fund-raising effort. he went to boeing aircraft plants up in washington state. he makes an american company

this morning. as much as had 14 degrees warmer than yesterday morning. visibility has improved a little bit around our coast. look how gusty they are. half moon bay, up to 25 miles an hour. a little breezy at sfo and winds all around the bay area should pick up today as the front pushes through. we are looking at some fog, perhaps drizzle but more clouds than anything. a breezy afternoon and warming trend gets underway after most everybody is back to work. we're talking to temperatures well above normal. we have been watching live doppler 7 all morning. you notice the different shades of green here. this is a little bit of precip out toward vacaville but mostly this isn't reaching the ground. you may run into an drizzle up to santa rosa and healdsburg. band of clouds is lowering as

they get closer to the bay and behind it we begin to see some clearing but not a whole lot precipitation. in fact we'll see a little bit in the form of snow on the east side of it. back around the bay, not much going on. we're going to bring down our temperatures and perhaps some spotty drizzle. there is yet another system is going to hold a little more promise for the latter half of the weekend, not going to happen. this will ride parallel to the coast, getting close. we'll watch it for a shower tomorrow but low 60s and surf increasing as the front passes through. 49 in the southern sierra with upper 50s in richmond to san rafael. partly cloudy in the afternoon. 56 in monterey. look ahead, very little change, a little more sunshine on holiday monday.

south shore vision plan, turning the casino corridor into an upscale town with easy access to the lake. most of the money from the makeover would come from private investment. it goes hand in hand to reroute highway 50, main road to south lake tahoe. instead going middle of town it would be moved farther from the lake. estimated cost is $65 million. >> we have a choice to make. are we going to make investments in our future or watch it degrade. >> dan: they are working for a combination to get federal, state and private money. the road is part of an effort to improve transportation all over the lake. >> and another proposal is for ferry service to take passengers from north to touth south shores and bike paths. they will ring the entire lake.

didn't provide enough data for nursing home benefits. >> they say they don't owe me that much. >> they have paid $60,000 in premiums yet beverly was struggling to get her benefits. she contacted 7 on your side twice for help. after we got involved, company did pay her an additional $11,000 for benefits she claims but she was not alone. >> they are making these people jump through hoops. >> consumer watchdogs, sponsors of limiting auto insurance rates filed a class action against ship. the lawsuit claims there is an unfair and unlawful scheme perpetrated by ship to delay and deny valid claims for coverage. it cites the case of 87-year-old policyholder william hall of san bernardino county, saying he was forced to delete saving and burn through fixed income because of
