>> good evening. >> 30 people are still homeless today after a fire in san francisco's bay view district. arson investigators are focusing on an abandon hold but have not determined what sparked the blaze. >> reporter: those investigators actually spent a lot of their day getting a lot of clues out 0 that blue house. that's where firefighters say this fire started, and neighbors tell us it's a house that been abandoned for quite a few years. the neighbors spent a lot of their day collecting clothes and other valuables because all four homes in this row are now

offlimits. >> maria and her family are among the 30 people who are disdisplayed by the fire. [speaking in foreign language] >> she tells me she had her plastic bags ready to go into her home to collect clothes because all she has is what she is wearing. i talked to her on saturday night. when the fire was raging. >> she said a neighbor came, slam, slam, slamming on her door to tell them about the fire and everyone got out safely. she lives in one of the four homes that were damaged by the fire but the home next to hers is gutted. it's been abandoned for years and locals say the property has raised concerns in the neighborhood. >> probably got people there living there illegally. i've been around the back of the building. you can see from the alley there, was somebody living there recently. >> a yard is crammed and includes a trailer that has been recently used.

prior crews -- fire crews said the blaze started at the abandoned home and investigators found evidence in the backyard. >> it's still under investigation. >> reporter: and when we first arrived here last night, we were told that neighbors may have seen someone running from the house where the fire started. this afternoon, police investigators were here. they were in the neighborhood asking people if they had any further details on anyone that might have been running from the house. coming up at 6:00, we'll have further details and also concerns neighbors have long had about this abandoned house. >> a sausolito family is safe after their rv caught fire with them inside of it. this is all that's left of the motorhome. the owner says the fire started after he decided to take his

kids for a ride this morning. >> i started the motor, and it hadn't started in a month and a half so i had to give it a few pumps. noticees some smoke coming out. saw open flames, and got the kids out, grabbed the fire extinguisher and tried to put it out and was unsuccessful. then i opened the hood and there were more flames. >> fire crews put out the blaze quickly but the rv is a total loss and a car nearby was damaged. he said he is just happy this two kids and dog escaped unharmed. >> 51-year-old man was hit and may have been run over by a suspect's car. investigates say officers saw several cars driving away and found the victim dead. they say his injuries were so severe it would most likely take an autopsy to confirm how he died. >> a quick response by pg&e

crews put a stop to a gas leak in san francisco today. just before 2:30, construction worker severed a one-inch gas line on geary near hyde street. pg&e immediately capped the line. a fire official says the construction worker is not to blame because san francisco is an old city with hundreds of unmarked gaslines. the tornadoes that struck the heartland have claimed another life, pushing the death toll to 39. a toddler found in a field passed away. and to make things worse, it's snowing out there tonight. scott goldberg reports from henryville, indiana. >> reporter: the warnings came well before, and in henryville cameras were ready but there was no way to predict an ef4. the second most powerful kind of tornado on a scale of five, with winds as fast as
