he the attorneys have trying to get a key piece of evidence thrown out. he and his wife want a video shot by a neighbor as inadd miss ib. it shows bruises on her home. lopez's attorney filed an appeal in the afternoon. lopez is refusing to testify against her husband. that makes the video, they say, hearsay evidence. >> you can't cross-examine a video. >> jury selection in the trial begins on monday. the 49ers say the price tag has gone up but taxpayers won't be on the hook for it. the team says it will stadium will cost $1.17 billion. they have agreed to a 40-year lease. santa clara city council is expected to approve the new lan

they say they regularly inspect the places of assembly and now planning to put those smaller venues on inspection list, as well. >> eric: fairfield police believe they have identified three suspects behind a fatal shooting of two men earlier this week. men died after being shot wednesday afternoon. they believe the three suspects opened fired after a drug deal went bad. they are blake johnson, darren trahan and marcel rutherford are the suspects. there is still to explanation why a sacramento woman led officers on a high speed chase. sky 7 was overhead yesterday morning as jennifer zin finally stopped her suv and was taken into custody near sunol.

chase begin outside sacramento and at times looked like the driver was about to careen out of control. she just shrugged her shoulders when asked why she did it. >> why did you run from the police? >> zin finally stopped after she hit a spike strip. a spokesman for the chp says she felt justified in evading the officers but she wouldn't explain why. she faces one felony count of evading arrest and one misdemeanor could this of obstruction of justice. >> in castro valley, a spill has closed two eastbound lanes of interstate 580. traffic alert is in effect past grove way. two right lanes are closed. motorists are advice today avoid the area. coming up next, a work that has yet to be completed at santa cruz harbor a year after the japan tsunami.

>> eric: a vigil will be held this evening in san jose's japan ton of last year's tsunami in japan. tomorrow marks the first anniversary. the quake killed more than 19,000 people. disaster caused meltdowns at three nuclear power plants. radiation still leaks from them because of those meltdowns all but three reactors are idle. and effects are still being felt in the bay area.

more than two dozen california harbors saw a hundred million dollars in damage. one of the hardest hit is santa cruz harbor. the damage is still visible today. captain joseph rogers remembers the tsunami hit santa cruz like it was yesterday. >> the water was rolling out of the harbor and came back in just as fast. >> tsunami surges slammed the coastal community one year ago, damaging 23 of the harbors 29 docks. repair bill will total $17.5 million. two of the docks have been completely replaced. design on at 11:00 are underway and one year later the port director is thrilled with the pace of progress. >> we were able to demolish, design, bid and reconstruct new docks in less than four months. that was a record setting completion date. despite the damage the harbor is

fully functioning. after the initial cleanup, they have not noticed anything unusual. >> i don't think harbor activity have been restricted by the tsunami. >> they toured the harbor and pointed out improvements to mapping tsunami zones and offering an early warning system of future events. >> they will know realtime, here is where the waves are coming. here is the timing and here is the size. so it's critical. >> experts say putting up signs like this are also critical. in some cases, they will direct tourists to higher ground. >> it creates awareness and when you look at them, you look what happened in 2011 and you are more aware of tsunamis in general. >> even california's hard hit

plans tomorrow, plan on a rainy afternoon on and off with cooler temperatures than today. today coming down 10-15 degrees and a wet pattern certainly by the middle of the week to end of the week, we're going to make up for lost time. water vapor imagery, not a good picture. we've got one front that is pushing on through. this is the next front that is going to bring a little bit in the way of rain. high pressure is fading away. we've had the offshore flow for not only past week but much of the winter. now, the onshore flow that is ushering cooler temperatures today and series of troughs. this one coming up from british columbia, northwest and it will be a cool one and spread scattered showers. multitude of systems that is going to arrive, they will be more mid latitude and more warmer systems. right now we are looking at the

clouds here and there throughout the afternoon, calling it partly cloudy. 5:00, this model wants to bring a few showers along the coast. it's not out of the question to see a few raindrops. but overnight hours we are dry. 8:00 tomorrow morning, it's back from sonoma county to marin county. we are talking about rain and through the afternoon it advances to the south and east. by 3:00 we've got sunshine out there. we're dry sunday night. monday morning not a big deal. monday afternoon, chance of showers returns and then once again into tuesday morning, look what is to the north of us. and wet week ahead. back home, still pretty mild, 63 in the southern sierra with 72 in los angeles and back home we're talking about near average temperatures for early march. 63 in oakland. 66 in livermore. and down by the monterey bay, 17 degrees cooler today. it was 80 in santa cruz yesterday. 64 today.

that trough headed our way. here at first weak system that is pushing through the bay right now. here is the next one. this will provide cooler weather. a little bit breezy and light showers on tap for sunday morning into early sunday afternoon. with high pressure weakening the offshore flow, the onshore flow and this is the second system. we're going to see several of these systems move on through bringing pretty good rain. we're talking 2-3 inches in the north bay through thursday. maybe an inch or two in san francisco. welcome precip in the sierra nevada. high elevation storm, these will be warm storms headed our way. through the next couple of hours partly cloudy skies, sometimes mostly cloudy skies, a light shower through the latter part of the day but we're not focusing on that. what we are focusing on a cold front coming our way tomorrow

weekend. >> eric: bullying is an old problem. a teenager from pleasanton is raising awareness by recruiting young people for something called the great american no bull challenge. education reporter lyanne melendez has details. >> reporter: when it comes to spreading the anti-bullying message at schools, they are somewhat of a rock star. these are some of her followers. seventh and eighth graders in south san francisco. >> we're going to make a grassroots movement. we started the challenge in hopes of getting 25 million teens to inspire and stand up. >> she and her mother started the great american no bull challenge asking schools across america to produce amateur videos on bullying. they have produced five.

smartmeter at your home but it's going to cost you. if you don't hurry they will install one anyway. how opt out fees have stirred up a protest. >> there were months of protests. >> please don't allow pg&e .... >> hearings, even arrests and finally the concession. thousands of pg&e customers who don't want wireless smartmeters can opt out having one installed in their home. >> yes, i want to opt out. thank you heard me. >> they were elated but she and many others are finding out they have to start paying a monthly charge if they want to keep smartmeters off their property. >> it's sort of like a penalty fee. >> pg&e is charging $75 up front plus $10 per month to customers that decline a smartmeter.

they estimate 150,000 my opt out. like thousands of others, they worry wireless meters emit harmful radio waves and can cause utility bills to spike. it's wrong to impose a fee. she started this online petition asking pg&e to stop charging customers who opt out. within two weeks she had gathered more than 600 signatures. >> there is a wealth of scientific information, studies and reports. >> pg&e insists the meters are safe and accurate. radio emissions fall well below federal limits. however, after protests grew the california puc told pg&e to let customers keep their old meters if they wish. >> we hope opt out alternative they can participate in so this can get some relief when it comes to concerns about wireless technology. >> but the puc also approved the
