>> reporter: the chief says the homicide suspect is identified as 35-year-old bin thai -- luk and has been charged with five counts of homicide. the bodies were discovered bay person who identified four of the victims as family members. the fifth victim was an acquaintance. one of the victims was associated with a chinatown gang five years ago. the police said these killings were not a random exact the individuals in the home were specifically targeted. the police also said the preliminary cause of death is blunt force trauma. the exact cause of death still has to be determined and revealed by the medical examiner. we haven't confirmed yet why the family was targeted. we hope to learn that soon. the brother of the suspect is

also in custody. he was arrested be police this morning for drug and weapons charges. police say they're serving search warrants in san francisco and san san mateo and this investigation is continuing. >> ama: a vigil is just getting underway in morgan hill for sierra lamar, the teenager missing for more than a week now. hill yap -- hill -- lillian kim has the latest. >> this vigil has brought all sectors of the community. sierra lamar has only lived here since october but there's been an outpouring of support. she was last seen friday morning before she left home for school. since then investigators found her cell phone and handbag with clothes inside. yet no one has any idea if sierra ran away or something bad happened to her. friends of the family who organized tonight's vigil are

holing out hope that sierra is out there alive and well. they're handing out pink and black ribbons in sierra's honor. it was one of her favorite things. >> tonight we wanted to have the ribbon theme where we could get the public wearing these and we're going to hand them out tonight. the cheerleading squad got together and we made over 500 of these to hand out tonight, so everybody can wear these every day and pray for her every day. >> everyone is trying to have the mindset that until something is said we're going to stay positive, and we want to see sierra come home. >> this is the fourth village until honor of sierra that has taken place since her disappearance. organizers say the gathers are important to maintain public awareness and keep the focus on sierra.

>> alan: cries forty across the nation in the case of 17-year-old trayvon martin. the unarmed teen shot and killed bay neighborhood watch captain. nick smith is in berkeley. one of the many communities showing solidarity for the family. >> sisters and brothers, would that allow me to say, hoodies up. >> clergy across the bay area traded in their robes for hooded sweatshirt thursday solidarity with trayvon martin, the teen shot to death by a neighborhood watch captain. >> i will never look at hoodies in the same way. >> reporter: dr. smith expressed outrage of the killing and the way in which individuals are judged by the way they look. trayvon's mother responding to the nationwide support and the call for george zimmerman's arrest, express herd gratitude. >> i like to thank them and appreciate all the support and we it means a lot to us.

>> reporter: zimmerman, who was never charged in the killing, claims he killed the 17-year-old in self-defense, and his friend says he is upset over the killing. >> after this started, the reports i got were that he couldn't stop crying. he knows what happened. and because he is not jail, he has been very confident, naively, this would all blow over. >> reporter: there have been some who suggested race may have played into zimmerman's interaction with martin. pastor mike mcbride washes against assumption of race simple and must like at gun violence as a whole. >> our work can be amplified to pay attention to the continual loss of life. this is not race-based. >> reporter: he says it's important to remember there are two families in pain. >> i just trust and rely on god to heal their heart. >> reporter: nancy lost her son to gun violence and her church pulled her through.

>> if it worked for me, it will work for her. >> reporter: george zimmerman says his client is out of touch for his safety and the safety of his family. in berkeley, nick smith, abc-7 news. >> ama: in san francisco, pedestrian was hit and killed by a muni bus this morning. witnesses say man stepped out into traffic and was pinned underneath the bus. the bus driver has been placed on leave, which is standard procedure. another man jumped on to a muni bus after he was shot. police believe the man was trying to get to the hospital or to his home. he was -- his injuries are not life-threatening. >> alan: a san jose man is under arrest after police say he shot at owes with a bb gun. the family members say he threatened to kill them. police say when they arrived on the scene, the man pulled the

gun and fired at them. they fired back but no one was hit in the exchange. >> ama: a freon leak in the warehouse at costco in concord. >> alan: a 7.2 quake has struck off the coast of chile. it prommed an emergency evacuation order for people living near the ocean in case of a fume but so far there are no immediate reports of death or injuries. >> ama: hundreds of thousands turn out for mass with the pope today in mexico, and how cubans are preparing for their meeting with the leader of their church. >> alan: film director james cameron goes to place where only two men have gone before. >> ama: the record, breaking weekend for "the hunger games".

>> ama: the u.s. has given money the victims of the afghanistan shooting rampage, the family of each villager was paid $50,000. each person who was wounded was given $11,000. army staff sergeant robert bales is accused of sneaking off his base and opening fire on the families while they slept. he's currently being held in a military prison in kansas. >> alan: pope benedict xvi celebrated mass in mexico before 350,000 worshipers. before the mass the pontiff was given a black sombrero to ward off the blazing sun. after the mass the pope traveled to a church in the city of leon to celebrate with bishops from mexico and latin america. the pope travels to cuba tomorrow. >> ama: right now director james

cameron is filming in the deepest spot on earth almost seven miles down, inside the mariana trench. he used a specially designed submarine to make the dive. he said he has no illusions what might happen almost 36,000 feet underwater. >> of course i'm worried. that's a good thing. when you're cav clear and take risks for granted, you get bit. >> ama: he has made 72 deep sea submersible dives. >> alan: the world of v.a.s and hackers clyde. the friendly competition to help veterans get back to work. >> ama: the sun came out but more wet weather on the way. leigh glaser is next with the forecast. >> mike: down to the final four in the ncaa tournament.

>> alan: former vice-president dick cheney is recovering from a heart transplant after spending nearly two years on the waiting list. the 71-year-old received the traps plant yesterday at a virginia hospital. he had severe con congestive het failure and had five heart attacks of the past 25 years. >> ama: mitt romney will be raising campaign cash in the bay area. they're holding a reception at the hotel in redwood city. tickets range from 1,000 to $2,500. rick santorum will also make his way to the east bay thursday for a fundraiser in alamo. >> support for romney in california is growing. according to a new poll, 42% of registered republican voters in the state support him. 19% support santorum and newt gingrich and ron paul a distant third and fourth. >> alan: today the tech central start upveteran weekend. veterans are invited to be part of a team focused on business and app development.

concerns. >> ama: just enjoy is from here. >> leigh: we saw just about everything. we had lots of sunshine, partial clearing, wonderful looking cumulus clouds out there. also reports of pea-sized hail in san jose at 2:00 this afternoon. showers moving over the marin headlands, and as we pan from the bay, looking out towards the east bay, the skies are starting to clear a bit, and live doppler 7hd is starting to try up a little bit as well. you can see from our latest returns that most everything out there has pretty much evaporated. so, we will look for a clearing trend overnight tonight, and it's just going to be brief because we're going to fire the live doppler 7 radar back up again tomorrow night, tuesday, and wednesday, as more rain moves in. we have that steady rain, and did it pile up? half moon bay, over an inch in the last 4 hours.

san rafael, over an inch of rain. close to an inch in oakland and san jose. needing the rain. almost three-quarters of an inch the last 24 hours, and we're all going to see agent -- a little more. san francisco, 55, 57 in napa, antioch, 56. 54 in san san jose. so, tonight we'll go with partial clearing, few clouds here and there. tonight the big concern and tomorrow morning for the early morning commute, will be the development of the pesky dense valley fog. we get a brief break tomorrow and then more rain developing as we ahead into tuesday and wednesday, and we're going to bring in some winds with the next system. so a little wind is not going to take much and we could see trees your turn. overnight lows continue.

upper 30s in north and east bay. otherwise valley fog and also temperatures in the 40s. here is the low pressure system that brought us the rain yesterday. pushed into southern california. boy, they're getting a lot of rain right now. partial clearing overnight, and we'll hold on to this through monday. by monday night, this is our next system. thicken our clouds monday night, rain and wind return on tuesday and's. this is the timing. we'll see the clearing overnight. there's 10:00, and you can see some fog develop at some of the protected valley areas by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, and look for increasing high and mid-level clouds tomorrow. tomorrow night when we'll start to see the first bit of rain start to move into the north bay, ukiah. santa rosa, and then all of this will advance over the entire bay area by tuesday morning. temperatures tomorrow, mid-to-upper 60s. east bay. we're not going to see some sunshine tomorrow but the clouds
