6:01 thanks for joining us i'm eric thomas. and i'm kristen sze. in san francisco police investigating a homicide on main street under the bay bridge. katie marzullo has been on the scene all morning. what have you learned about the victim? >> reporter: we've seen a lot of activity we haven't learned a lot of new information. he's adult male and not an employee of pg&e. that is despite speculation because there was a pg&e crew on the scene way we've seen in the last few minutes, the

scene is starting to clear. police may be wrapping up their investigation. we've seen several unmarked and marked police cars leave the scene. we've also seen the coroner van presumably take the body away. adult male found in the middle of main street between harrison and bryan. police are not saying how this person was killed. we've seen them interviewing several possible witnesses on the street. homeless person who appears to have been sleeping on the sidewalk and another man. we talked with a security guard who works in one of the buildings. he says this area is quiet and he was surprised to find out this happened. >> kind of spooked. like i said it never happens over here. this is the first time something like this happened in this area. >> reporter: again, back on the scene this is directly underneath the bay bridge on main street between harrison

and bryant. frances has been reporting that the street is closed. again, we have seen a lot of activity wrapping up at this hour, perhaps the street will be reopening soon. as police continue to investigate in homicide. we don't know whether or not any suspects are on the loose or who police might be looking for. katie marzullo, abc7 news. 6:03. morgan hill police detectives will follow up on a potential clue if the disappearance of 15-year-old sierra lamar discovered by a volunteer searcher yesterday. searchers will be back out today. terry mcsweeney is live in morgan hill this could be a piece of the puzzle but maybe not. >> reporter: yeah, you don't know. if it is tied to the disappearance of 15-year-old sierra lamar, it is a huge piece of evidence. a box found on the side of that box it is written stainless steel handcuffs. investigators haven't saying the cuffs were in it just the

box and used condoms. take a look at where this new possible evidence has been found. a mile from the home of sierra lamar and the bus stop where she is believed to have been heading when she disappeared march 16th, two weeks ago today. a searcher with the klaas kids foundation located the box and condoms at the west end of palm he have avenue. >> we are collecting -- we are collecting it as possible evidence. we don't know go these-=?; ites are gonna be related to the lamar case or not. we are going to have these items submitted to the crime lab for further testing. >> reporter: sierra's cell phone and her bag with clothing inside of it were found in the two days following her disappearance. investigators say they've received close to 400 phone calls, people calling in, information about possible sightings, someone they might

two men left a liquor store and front counted by another group of men. student -- an alleged assault on a female student took place yesterday afternoon at deer valley high. attack happened in one of the school's restrooms before 3 p.m.. mountain view police searching for a man who lunged at a little girl. a 9-year-old tells police yesterday morning a man was near a pole and charged at her. she got away. officers searched the area but couldn't find him. they don't believe this was a kidnap ago tempt. the man is heavy set, in fist 50s with grey hair navy blue polo shirt and grey jeans. a man wanted for one of two stabbings is under arrest. a witness to the sunday night stabbings spotted the suspect yesterday walking by justin herman plaza. the witness notified police and made a citizen's arrest. friends say the man stabbed

bryant. there are still a lot of questions we are waiting to hear police answer. they have not revealed the cause of death. they are investigating this as a homicide. they've not id'd the victim and not made rourkes to what kind of if any, suspects they are looking for -- a man's body was found this morning. we were able to talk with a witness who says up until then it was like any other quiet morning. >> i heard the ambulance outside. when i came outside, i seen the dead body the cops were already here i couldn't get añv good look they told me to go back inside. >> reporter: you didn't hear a gunshot or anything? >> i didn't hear nothing everything was quiet. >> reporter: we have watched detectives interview different possible witnesses, including two homeless people who appeared to have been sleeping in tents overnight. police asked them to talk with

they have close to 600 tips come going the public. they have a lot of leads to work on. they are looking for the within that could crack this case and this -- for the one that could crack this case. and this could be the one that cracks this case wide open they are going to test it and determine if it ties in any way to . the klaas foundation heading out at 8:00 this morning, got a big boost yesterday, a donation of $12,000 to their search efforts. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. 6:34 now. we are finding out that a chemical reaction caused a 55 gallon drum to pop its lid and release gases at a newark oil recycling plant last night. crews responded to reports of an explosion at the evergreen oil company on smith avenue 11 p.m.. they found one drum containing paint product releasing gas six other barrels were warmer than usual they were separated and allowed to cool.

no shelter in place order. court date set in ross mirkarimi's challenge of mayor lee's suspension of him as sheriff. it will be heard april 18th. the mayor suspended the sheriff without pay for official misconduct after mirkarimi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor false imprisonment. mirkarimi's attorney asked the judge to immediately reinstate mirkarimi. he says public officials can't be removed from office for official misconduct unless the crime occurred while in office. mirkarimi was sworn in one week after the domestic violence incident involving his wife on new year's eve. somebody could become mega rich tonight, why not you. the jackpot is 540 million dollars. people are looking for any advantage to win by the way that jackpot will probably grow. this line outside kavanagh liquors which has previously sold four winning tickets last night they had to turn people away.

first volunteers started turning up here where the search for sierra lamar has been headquartered for the past week. something one of those searchers found yesterday has investigators really taking a look to see maybe this can break this case wide open. take a look at where they found these items and i'll tell you what they found. a box labeled stainless steel handcuffs, inside used condoms. this box was phone a mile from sierra's home and the -- this box was found a mile from sierra's home and the bus stop where she disappeared two weeks ago this morning. a searcher found that box west end of palm avenue this is area that has been searched five times by different searchers. nothing was spotted, maybe it was overlooked. maybe it just arrived there. maybe it has nothing to do with this case. it is going to be tested to find out. they have sierra's phone, her purse, found shortly after her
