portions of novato right now picking up a little rain, and it's moving very close to lucas valley road there, and more has developed just off the coast of san francisco. the golden gate bridge here, so i estimate the distance from the bridge to the thick band of rain about 25 miles. so, we still have some showers, isolated thunderstorms, to get through tonight and then looks like we'll dry out. >> ama: the weather didn't stop the celebration in alameda today where the first lady came to christen a new coast guard cutter. lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> lisa: no one could escape the heavy downpour, the buckets of rain, and the unforgiving wind. not even the first lady. she came to alameda to christen the coast coast guard's brand nw vessel, the cutter stratton. >> you all are troopers! way to go. i'm proud of y'all. for making it through this day.

entering its third week. organizer brian miller says even with the rain there was a huge turnout of search volunteers. >> today was a rainy day but still very happy with the day. we had almost 500 new first-time searchers today, and we had almost 600 total searchers today. so, for us that's a great sign than we were able to get all these new people out on a rainy day. >> reporter: today the searchers, wet and we're where, -- weary returned here to the school. search efforts hey before -- have been expanding. items belonging to sierra have been found, including a cell phone, purse, and some clothing, but nothing else. now, back here live. nothing new was discovered again today. searchers will be out again tomorrow, rain or shine, according to brian miller, and beginning tomorrow the search will be expanded to 15 miles

realize they'll be going to work on monday after failing to be one of three players who won the mega millions jackpot. the winning tickets were sold in kansas, and illinois. >> 158 people won nearly $230,000 each for picking the first five numbers correctly. five of those players are from the bay area. one bought the ticket in san francisco, another in sunnyvale. the stores get a nice chunk of money for selling the tickets. the jackpot for the tuesday drawing is a measly $12 million. the numbers were 2, 4, 23, 38, 46, the mega-number was 23. >> in other news, a disease that killed millions of fruit trees in florida and brazil is now in california.

about 12 miles or so from the golden gate bridge. so this will be the next wave to move in, and just in the last 20-30 minute wes have had some impressive lightning disprieks some of the bands of heavy thunderstorm cells imbedded in the line. so don't be surprised to hear a little thunder. wind is starting to pick up again in front of the line so southwesterly gusts, sfo, 36, 33, oakland. and concord, gusts to 22. san jose, once the line moves through the winds should die down. mid-to upper 50s across the bay area right now. going to be a little warmer tomorrow. showers tonight. possibility of thunderstorms, and then tomorrow, mostly sunny. it will be a bit breezy, temperatures start to come up. back into the 60s in most locations. a great day tomorrow, and then we'll keep this dry pattern with at least the first few days of april. this was that fast, mover that moved through the bay area this
