coast. the injured sailors are suffering from rib, pelvic, and back injuries. we have been told a coast guard med-evac helicopter took off from the cutter and are working on hoisting the injured sailors to safety. there are many risk involve. >> you see the -- high winds, swells, and that will be moving the sail sailboat, rooking -- rocking back and forth. the weather is always unpredictable. so. the risks are always out there, and they will do the best to get them. >> ama: the injured sailors will likely be taken to a hospital the san francisco. the name of the race is clipper 11/12 around the world yacht

race. live from coast guard island in alameda, abc-7 news. >> ama: now to pacifica where an early morning hours fire took the lives of two people, including a child. sergio quintana is live at the scene with the latest. sergio? >> reporter: this is a very tightknit neighborhood so this morning when neighbors saw the house was on fire, people rushed here to make sure everybody got out alive. unfortunately two people did not. so it has been a devastating day for the neighborhood but spcially so for the family. emotions boil over as a man tries to get into his house and is held back by his family and police. this is a morning fire that jolted the neighborhood into action. several people raced to try to save residents from the flames. >> we were hoping all the kids got out. everybody got out. and not what happened. >> reporter: fire crews arrived and launched an take and a

rescue operation. >> some of the people were able to safely evacuate reported there were possibly two people still inside the structure so we went into rescue. >> reporter: 13 people were in the house when the fire started. 11 were able to get out. some from a second-floor window. >> reports from the police department people were exiting from the second floor window, including some children that were being tossed out the window to safety below. >> one of the children tossed out of the window, one-year-old baby. the infant and two parents were taken to san francisco general hospital for smoke inhalation. two peeled did not make it out alive. a middle school aged boy and a great-grandfather in his 90s. extended family came to the fire scene to figure out what happened and console each other. >> the family is not doing too good. they're very sad, and they said -- hi, patricia. >> hugs and -- you know, kisses

and stuff. >> patricia and guillermo said the great grandfather who died had recently moved the bay area from mexico about three months ago. neighbors tell us they believe the fire started somewhere here on the first floor and then quickly spread to the rest of the house. fire investigators spent a good part of the day picking through a lot of what is left of the home, trying to geert -- gather clues and figure out where the fire started and what sparked it. reporting live. abc-7 news. >> ama: thank you. tonight the parents of missing 15-year-old sierra lamar are releasing a new picture of the daughter. it's a picture on a fliers volunteers will distribute. they were out agained to searching the field near her house. the was last since march 16th 16th before leading for school. her dad says the ordeal is not easy. >> hard and getting harder. still waking up at night,

thinking about her, you know, worrying, all of that is still going through. my other daughter and i cried for a while last night. >> ama: the next official search will be next saturday. tonight, concord police are investigating the city's first murder of the year. the body of a 49-year-old transient was found in a parking lot on monument boulevard behind a building that housed a video store. in other news, "occupy" protesters are on the november san francisco. tomas roman is here with the details. >> reporter: they did a lot of moving. the "occupy" protest startedded a union square, walked down geary street and then down van nest, and the trek ended a few minutes ago on turk street. a group of 150 "occupy" san francisco and "occupy" oakland protesters joined forces today.

they gathered at union square and at 5:00 p.m. started a march through the city. they blockedder and -- they blocked intersections. some people had to walk. >> it's crazy. people have a right to say what they wont. >> overrated now. >> reporter: police kept stopping traffic so the march could continue. there will no incidents along the route except for some people flying the street. we thought they were headed to "occupy" -- occupy the old ca field contractual. and we were told the "occupy" protesters are actually occupying or attempting to occupy a building on turk street, 888 turk street, which turns out to be an old city building that apparently is vacant. we'll have more on abc-7 at 11:00 recording the obama -- the

>> closed captioning brought to >> closed captioning brought to >> ama: tonight firefighters are talking about how they saved one of their own off a collapsing roof. a chemical fire was burning out of control. the firefighters had to bust through the roof and the roof gaveaway. one firefighter was just about to fall through and his buddy pulled him to safety. >> we all went -- came off the roof and went back to work.

>> both guys kept level heads and the lieutenant was just giving us instructions, telling us what to do. >> you saw the video. the firefighter didn't know his pals' quick thinking saved his life. federal investigators are looking into reports engine fires in the jeep wrangler, the other a 2011 chevrolet cruze. at least six vehicles have been destroyed by fire, but so far no injuries have been involved. some bay area residents are paying a bit more sales tax today. voters approved increased in effect in vallejo. now 8.375%. fairfax increased to 8.5%. fairfax is in line with novato and san rafael for the highest sales tax in the county. >> the april fools joke played on one of the g.o.p. presidential candidates.
