6:01 thanks for joining us i'm kristen sze. i'm eric thomas. the oikos university campus shutdown a day after california's worst mass shooting in nearly two decades. this morning new information about a possible motive. >> new information on the weapon. we have live team coverage. katie marzullo at highland hospital with new details on the victims. let's begin with terry mcsweeney at oikos university.

>> reporter: perhaps three minutes ago a press conference with police chief jordan wrapped up. during that conference he clarified something that he mistakenly said yesterday. he said the weapon used in the shooting yesterday that killed seven and wounded three had been recovered. this morning he is saying it has not been recovered. let us begin with the 911 call that came in that alerted police to the tragedy. >> gunshots, a lady came out she had blood on her arm. >> an active shooting going on. >> can we get another ambulance down here? >> reporter: those calls 10:30 yesterday morning, when police say 43-year-old former student out here, one goh opened fire in a classroom. according to the chronicle he did so with a 45 calibre handgun. he apparently was targeting an administrator. he had been kicked out of the school a few months ago.

perhaps coming back for revenge. he did shoot a secretary and nine students. he did not get the person he was after, she was not on campus yesterday. this is a school with fewer than 100 students and he shot 10. a short time ago the chief was talking about the gun and how the search for it continues. >> we do know however, that the -- based on ballistic evidence that we have at scene that the gun was a handgun. it was a semi-automatic handgun base on the ballistics that we've recovered at the scene. >> reporter: the suspect fled the shooting scene one hour later found at a supermarket in alameda. he had stolen the carve one of his shooting victims. -- the car of one of his shooting victims. cooperating, according to the police chief not remorseful for what he did.

more from katie marzullo in just a few minutes. mayor quan is asking the city of oakland, all residents to reach out to especially impacted korean community this is a christian korean school here. she would like everyone in the city to reach out as best they can with at least their prayers. terry mcsweeney. >> you mentioned katie, katie is live at the hospital where two of the shooting victims are still hospitalized. >> reporter: the hospital is not releasing their conditions. we understand they are expected to live, which is great news. and great news amid a lot of other heartbreaking stories. as you look at video of the emergency room yesterday to get an idea of the police presence and the activity that was happening. the only man who was killed was the last victim, he was carjacked in the parking loft of the -- parking school. he was studying nursing and

working at night as a janitor at the airport to cover his bills. the other victims, other six victims were all women from 21 to 40. then there are the three survivors, within has again home. she talked with carolyn tyler as she was leaving the hospital yesterday. >> he decided to shoot us. >> reporter: we heard you tried to help a friend. >> i helped my french >> reporter: what did you do? >> i picked her up from the ground. she fell on the ground and guy shot in the arm. >> reporter: that is a u.s. army reservist she left the hospital yesterday with stitches in her home, very heroic young woman and lucky. still two survivors here. we don't know the extent of their injuries they are not life-threatening. katie marzullo, abc7 news. in the middle of all the case why is there are emerging

stories of heroic actions. within student's quick thinking in a near -- one student's quick thinking in a nearby class may have stopped the shooting of many more. she heard a woman scream "oh my god," she rushed to the door of her classroom, locked it and turned off the lights she and her classmates got on the floor. >> he start shooting on the door. i think it was three or four times he shot on the door. maybe he thought nobody was inside because it was dark and he could not see anything. then i think he moved on the other room, i can hear the banging, the gun banging."i then suddenly like the lady she was asking for help. >> while several bullets came through the door, nobody was hurt in her classroom. she says her faith played a large part as to how she responded. she says she won't let this tragedy stop her from punishing the nurse -- from

mistreated him, disrespected him and things of that nature. >> reporter: the suspect arrested in the back of that squad car hiding himself, 11:30 yesterday at a supermarket in alameda. new information about the killings. when we was in that classroom he asked students to stand up and line-up. sounded like execution-style. as far as the weapon used police are not saying what calibre it is. the chronicle is reporting it was a 45 calibre. the weapon has not been recovered. they believe it is somewhere between where i'm standing here on edgewater in oakland and the supermarket in alameda where he was arrested. they are saying it was a semi-automatic and they are looking for it this morning. also, they are telling us that at the supermarket yesterday when he was arrested, before he was arrested he called his father, told his father, admitted to everything and to police, police are saying he is admitting everything but

been identified, the last victim, the shooter carjacked him in the parking lot of the school, killed him and took his car. he's a buddies who came from the him lay yards he went to the university during -- himalayas, went to the university during the day working as a janitor at night to pay his bills, he was 38-years-old. the only survivor released from the hospital talked with carolyn tyler and tried to explain what happened inside that university. >> reporter: how are you doing? >> i'm doing okay. >> reporter: can you tell us anything about what happened today? >> just some guy an taking us. -- some guy tacking us. >> reporter: did you know him? >> he's a former student. >> reporter: what happened he just stood up in class? >> yeah, he just stood up in class and decide to shoot us. >> reporter: she is an army reservist shot in the arm and left the hospital yesterday with stitches.

administrator, a secretary shot. the administrator he was after was not even on campus yesterday. he left campus, killed a student and took his car to a supermarket in alameda. there he called his father, told him the whole story, what he had done he told a store worker he killed people the worker notified police, police came and he was arrested without incident. the gun is still missing it was not found in the car as oakland police indicated yesterday. they also say goh is cooperating, but not remorseful. seven dead, three wounded. police say the d.a. will get the report tomorrow, the university according to oakland police chief jordan is closed indefinitely. police maintaining a presence out here this is still an active crime scene. that's the story from here. for more on the victims let's go to katie marzullo. >> reporter: good morning. of the 10 who were shot, three survived. two are still being treated for their injuries here at

highland hospital. those injuries are not life-threatening. the third survivor was already released yesterday. we have video of her leaving the hospital. she was shot in the arm and left here in stitches. of the seven who were killed, six women and one man. four have been identified. the man is 38-year-old man shot and killed in the parking lot when the shooter stole his car. three women identified 33-year-old, 21-year-old and a 24-year-old. all of the victims are between the ages of 21 and 40 they were from many, many different places in the world from korea, nigeria, nepal and the philippines. as small as the school was, as far as student body it was such an international school that several communities are in mourning this morning. katie marzullo, abc7 news. checking other top stories,
