i'm kristen sze. and i'm cheryl jennings. we have live team coverage. we begin with terry mcsweeney at the search site in an oakland waterway at shoreline park. >> reporter: this waterway is directly across west across 880 from the oracle arena. investigators looking in that waterway now for one more piece of the puzzle. they say they already have a confession and now they nomoive. police called in special sonar equipment from san francisco pd to find the weapon that kill seven and wounded three. >> in equipment is capable of detecting items that may be in the water. we are specifically looking for the handgun. >> reporter: police say goh purchased the weapon in february and had been planning. >> he went through the building shooting victims. >> reporter: we are learning more about the suspect 43-year-old one goh who police

say has confessed. his motive, revenge was upset at administrators at the school. he was upset with several students because of the way he was treated when he was enrolled here two months ago. >> reporter: goh shot his 10th and final victim outside the school and took that person's car to a supermarket in alameda where he told an employee he had just shot some people. >> he has not been particularly remorseful but very cooperative. >> reporter: strangely, mr. goh has confessed to shooting 10 and killing seven. when it comes to pinpointing where he threw the weapon out, he's backing off, not being cooperative. oakland pd says they plan to find it any way they have san francisco pd if necessary they will call out divers. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >> the fbi and investigators from several police agencies

are still at the scene. >> reporter: a very different scene today. yesterday at this time, police were responding enforce to the shooting and looking for a gunman. today, it is the forensic team which is out here and they have taken over the building. sky 7 hd gives a good picture of what i am talking about. the crime scene investigators and technicians, the csi folks are here going through every inch of that building and its surroundings. looking for evidence and they are wearing as you see, their white suits and gloves. this way they avoid contaminating the crime scene. they are certainly dusting for fingerprints, that is a procedure they do at time. the suspect is said to have sprayed one room with bullets. i suspect investigators will spend a fair amount of time in that classroom. they will do also what is called a gunshot trajectory

reconstruction used to determine the location of the victims and suspect during the shooting. we have also learned here that the fbi mobile lab is here and agents are assisting in this investigation. leann melendez, abc7 news. the police dispatch tapes from that shooting reveal a lot of confusion when the calls started coming in. eric thomas is here with that part of the story. >> radio call shows how chaotic everything was. dispatchers relaying information and cops trying to make sense of it and wondering if they are about to run into a gun fight. the response started from one call from the 7800 block of edgewater caller reporting shots fired. officers refer to that person as the reporting party or rp. >> shoots coming -- shots

coming from inside the building. >> cars begin speeding towards edgewater drive. officers unsure what to expect. then, an officer who had been flagged didn't by a witness gets on the radio and describes a victim lying out sigh the university. >> -- outside the university. >> in the parking lot, 7900 looks like a gunshot to the head. not responsive. >> reporter: now, arriving officers have to anticipate the worst. a supervisor puts out this order. >> we are trying to establish if there's an active shooter in that area. >> reporter: what arriving officers find is chaos, screaming people, more gunshot victims, a total of 10, seven would die. in all the confusion police still don't know where shooter is. >> let's set up a perimeter now. >> what they found, more

victims, witnesses and the shooter left the scene s.w.a.t. teams had to search the building and take no chances to see if there was an accomplice. it took three minutes for the first units to arrive. three hours to call all-clear. >> katie marzullo joins new information about the victims. >> reporter: the survivors are okay. the hospital just confirmed in the last hour that the last of the three survivors was discharged from the hospital last night. that's good news for them. of course the seven people who were killed never made it to hospital. we have confirmed one name of one victim, a 38-year-old, a buddhist immigrant from the himalayas. he was attending the college to become a nurse during the day working as a janitor to pay the bills at night. the shooter shot him in the parking lot and used his car to get away. he was the only man killed the

other six are women from 21 to 40 from all over the world tibet, korea and the philippines. we did talk with one survivor as she left the hospital yesterday carolyn tyler asked her what it was like? the woman still stunned but tried to explain what happened. >> i got shot in the arm. >> reporter: did you get stitches? >> yeah, i got stitches. >> reporter: what was that like in there? what was the atmosphere? >> not the best. oh well. whatever happened we can make the best out of it. >> reporter: she is a u.s. army reservist which might explain her calm under pressure. she was able to help a friend to safety as she saved her own life. a memorial has been planned for this evening held at allen temple baptist church at 8501 international boulevard in oakland. it is going to begin at 6:00

right now we are taking another live look via sky 7 hd at the scene where police are searching san leandro bay for the firearm used in yesterday's oikos university shooting that killed seven people. investigators believe this waterway in regional park is where the 45 calibre semi-automatic handgun may be. this morning the oakland police chief jordan said the suspected gunman an expelled student one goh purchased the firearm legally six weeks ago. right now they are searching for that firearm, happening right now at shoreline park in oakland. on to other news. a celebration of sorts in oakland overnight as a damaged yacht with its remaining crew onboard limped into port. a crowd greeted the crew at

jack london square. they were competing in an around the world race when a giant wave hit and damaged the boat 400 miles off our coast saturday. two crewmembers were seriously injured. the captain says the weather had been rough across the pacific. and the wave that hit them was massive. >> it was a 300 foot wave, higher than the mast. [ inaudible ] just trashed the steering column and the wheel. [ inaudible ] it just washed people up and down the bay like rag dolls, devastating. >> a coast guard cutter picked up the injured crewmembers they are now being treated. right now in san francisco rally getting started near city hall to protest the obama

administration's crackdown on medical marijuana dispensaries. supervisors and local members of the state legislature are holding a news conference after the rally to voice their support for medical cannibus patients. the rally one day after federal agents raided multiple oakland properties belonging to one of the bay area's largest medical marijuana entrepreneurs. dozens of kits squared off against police -- dozens of advocates squared off against police at oaksterdam university. agents also raided a nearby coffee shop owned by oaksterdam university founder richard lee. no arrest warns have been issued. president obama says the republican budget plan passed by the house is a prescription for a decline that harms future generations. he told a group of newspaper executives today that republicans are peddling another round of trickle down economics, a policy he says doesn't work. >> the president: instead of moderating their views even

slightly, the republicans running congress right now, have doubled down. and proposed a budget so far to the right it makes the contract with america look like the new deal. >> the president told the audience america cannot afford another tax cut for the wealthy or cuts that make it more difficult for future generations to get a college education. the 3 1/2 trillion dollar republican proposal aims to slash the federal deficit by cutting government programs while lowering tax rates. this saturday republican presidential front-runner mitt romney hopes to secure his party's nomination. gop voters headed to prime in -- primaries in maryland, district of columbia and wisconsin the only state where santorum put up a fight. in the past week president obama is increasingly treating romney as though he is already the

slide across the bay area squeezing in a mild, nice spring-like afternoon from san francisco south. 57 now mountain view as well as san jose. in the north bay you've had sunshine and temperatures have had a chance to respond, 57 in napa, we'll call it partly cloudy throughout the rest of the day increasing clouds in the north bay chance of showers from sonoma to marin this afternoon, evening commute could see a light shower the rest of the bay area then the warming trend for this time around just in time for the weekend. here's a look at what we can expect, cold front still far to the north. we are looking at some of the thin high clouds overhead. right now looking at the rain still a couple hours away. this will continue to sink south and east today i think the best chance of rain will come in around the 2:00, 3:00 time period from sonoma and then by 4:00, 5:00 maybe marin

canadian transgender beauty queen disqualified from the miss universe contest will tell what action she is planning to take. she has hired gloria allred. the two will speak at a news conference in los angeles at 11:30. they underwent gender reassignment and was kicked out of the contest for not being a naturally born female. her case has gained international attention. according to a statement just released on the pageant's website she may be allowed to compete after all. coming up next, where you can get a free treat to satisfy that sweet tooth today. >> that when we come back.
