searching ago oakland estuary looking for a firearm used to kill seven people at oikos. . the shooter will make his first court appearance today. -- >> reporter: 43-year-old one goh expected in court today to face charges of seven counts of murder, and other charges. investigators say they've got a solid case against him, including a confession but they don't have the murder weapon that's why they were in the waters all day yesterday into the wee hours of this morning. take a look at divers in the water here in the waterway, just west of the oracle arena and east of oakland airport. they were diving from 8:30 last night looking for that 45 calibre semi-automatic handgun used in monday's rampage. the suspect goh has confessed but won't say where he threw

the handgun. police have information that leads them to believe it is in here somewhere within 90 feet of the shoreline. oakland pd called in robotic sonar scanners from the san francisco police department, boats equipped with scanners came in from the coast guard on oakland pd. a spokesman says current should not be a problem >> a weapon being as heavy as it is shouldn't have too much effect, especially given it is only a little more than 24 hours old.l ;+t silk depending on how deep it is can cause problems. >> reporter: police say go said he was upset with students because they teased him for his poor english skills. he was upset with an administrator that wouldn't help him get back thousands in tuition. he owed tens of thousands including some to the internal revenue service. last year his mother died and his brother was killed in a car crash. police say he's being helpful,

only to a point. they say he is not remorseful for killing seven people monday terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. a nursing profess -- professor who taught goh said he used to brag about violence he told him he would go not park and pick fights when he was bored. his brother offered sympathy to the victims' families. he said he's ashamed that his brother is accused of killing seven people. goh went on to say he feels sorry for the victims' families. one goh lived in two virginia cities over the last five years. >> goh was evicted from one virginia complex where he still reportedly owes $1300 in back rent. news shock shocked his neighbors in virginia. >> -- come and chat here and there but i never would have thought anything. >> go, -- goh left virginia in

2009 and moved to oakland. this morning we know more about the victims they range from 21 to 53. last night mourners held a vigil in remembrance of them. katie marzullo is live at the oikos university campus in oakland. >> reporter: we now know the names of all seven victims and we have most of their pictures. we want to get to those. 21-year-old lydia sim, one, 23-year-old grace kim, ping, 24, 33-year-old, a 38-year-old man who was carjacked in the parking lot. 40-year-old and a 50 3-year-old. a memorial was held last night for all seven, more than 300 mourners showed up to pay respects. it was a multi-phased bilingual event it featured

buddhist monks, entire communities are in mourn, -- are in mourning. she moved here two years ago from india, she worked in education and here she was studying to become a nurse. her brother says she only wanted to help people. >> she will be in my mind everyday. i can't believe she is gone. but i'm hoping that someone says it is not true. but i guess it is true. >> reporter: each victim has a story and truly heartbreaking. i'll try to get to each them. they are moms, bread winners for entire families and they are friends. they were each here to work or study to make their life better or make the lives of family members better. truly so much loss felt here. to that end, the city of oakland has established a crisis line for anyone who had to deal with the shooting or

delayed a plan for a sprawling digital media facility in lucas valley. neighbors and environmentalists --tell yesterday county supervisors said they needed two more months to review issues raised by federal and state agencies about plans for a 70 million dollar creek restoration project at the site. lucas says his site will create jobs for marin county and will have little impact on the environment. new study ranks the healthiest places to live in california some in the bay area. marin county topped the list followed by santa clara county in the second spot, san mateo and santa cruz counties made the top 10. san francisco was 24th among the state's 58 counties. the study compared counties by including factors on how long people lived, availability of health care and percentage of

huge vigil was held, more than 300 people actually attend many faiths were represented and the service was held in many languages to accommodate the many nationalities of the victims. ping is from the philippines her husband isthere and her family is struggling with how to tell him that she has died. she was the school's secretary and the primary, the main breadwinner for her family. she was supporting her son, little sisters, brother and parents. they all live together in oakland. >> last night, you know my head is like almost blowing out. because it is really hard to think that she is not coming, you know. >> reporter: that was her mother, heartbreaking to hear her pain. another victim, lydia sim was in san francisco, her

sacramento will see a little sun low to mid 60s. mid to upper 60s l.a. and san diego. palm springs sunny, 88 today. 5:48 now. a protest against a student fee hike turned violent last night in l.a. as many as 30 students were hurt after campus police began pepper spraying demonstrators at santa monica college, two were hospitalized. 100 students showed up to protest fees due to go into effect in summer. an advocate says two officers were backed up against a wall and began using force. san bruno advisory board has recommended closing the elementary school closest to the deadly pipeline explosion. the district says because of declining enrollment it wants to shutdown crestmoor and transfer students to rollingwood. many parents oppose the plan they say the kids have been through enough since the firestorm.
