man who reported possibly seeing a gun at 5:30 this morning. that is the latest here, we should know quickly if there is a gun in the trash can. >> thank you. i know you'll let us know as soon as you get word. authorities have spent the last couple days searching the estuary because there are reports the gun had been thrown into the water if sit in this trash can that would be a break for authorities and a huge development in this case. one of the victims of monday's mass shooting was the president of the nursing class. she told her husband she was afraid of one goh, the suspect when he was a student there. the 42-year-old remains in shock over the murder of his wife. and this is his favorite picture of the woman he called

the d.a.hasn't determined whether to seek the death penalty. >> to make a statement with a microphone we might not be seeking the death penalty how about from her family? if it was her family? then, what would she want? >> d.a.said she's waiting for a preliminary hearing. >> it's at that point in time the decision whether or not we'll seek death in this case will be made. >> the folk jus on his daughters. >> i can't let my wife down f i don't take care of our beautiful children, she will be highly disappointed in me. so... he told me his wife really enjoyed the nursing program here and as a graduation present in december he planned to take her back to their native ni geara. now, he may hold her funeral there.

>> and oikos university is still losed tonight but there are new developments there and abc 7 joins us live. >> police are allowing people to go inside that building. the first time since the shootings occurred. this means the team and investigators have concluded their work and they'd been inside since monday. piecing together the shooting and going through evidence. now, what people have asked to do, when i mean people, i mean faculty, students and people who work there, asking to allow them to go inside to retrieve their stuff, cell phones, lap tops and purses and everything and anything left behind, asked to to not go into the class rooms just too raw for a lot of people. so people, police took everything out and put it into

the small church that the school has inside of the building. then, the building will be handed over to the university. now, first person to go inside was the chief operating officer of the university w regard to the suspect he told abc 7 news the college had three long meetings with one goh, focusing on him wanting to leave and demanding a reimbursement. the amount, according to moon, between 4,000s skpdz $6,000 but the university only wanted to give him a portion of the money since she'd taken several classes. now, moon said that at the second meeting he complained about classmates and how he didn't get along with them. now, also according to moon at that meeting was the head of the nursing department, and

she was there at all three meetings now with respect to her, police now say she was not the intended target and there is another administrator that was. and as you're seeing before they're allowing people back into the university to retrieve their things. >> thank you. we're learning about the suspected killer one goh and what his life is like inside of jail. there is laura anthony with the cell and that stage is stark and small. isn't it? >> it s it's hard to imagine spending an hour in there, much less months, or years which is what he is facing. add to that the fact that except for exchanges with guards he will be kept alone.

this is what his home looked like. smaller than many closets and a single light fixture on the wall. a concrete bed with a thin mattress and a stainless steel toilet. no chair no, desk and no contact with other inmates. >> this is a waigs where he's charged with a notorious crime, put into this situation for his own safety. >> making sure he doesn't hurt himself he issued just one blanket that does not rip or tear every 15 minutes a guard peeks in to make sure he is okay. he's allowed a book or reading material but no personal items and there are all meals in his cell, breakfast at 5:00 a.m. lunch in paper bag, dinner on a tray at 4:00 p.m.

this is a cell. he's now in another eight by 12 cell like this. in another part of the jail. and he is allowed out of the cell just one hour per day. and can take a shower, watch tv or make calls. so far, no visitors. not from relatives in the bay area or his brother covering his head in virginia. at some point he may move to a larger cell but will be in isolation and except for trips to court in oakland it's the life he'll live for months, even years while one goh waits for the case to go to trial. and we learned today one goh is not his given name. records show his birth name was su nom koh but he changed it to one il-goh.

investigators told me that goh is being very cooperative about many things in terms of talking with investigators and except for one area, where he may have drop that had gun. it sounds like a citizen may have helped police locate that gun. >> and we're waiting to see if that gun, if it is a gun is connected to the tragedy. and on that subject he bought a gun legally in castro valley. the ease at which people can buy weapons is a issue in this country. the senator became mayor after assassination of george mosconi in 1978 and spoke with us about the tragedy. >> this is a terrible incident. several people killed and many people wounded. it's one of the symptoms of a

gun-happy society where virtually anyone can get a handgun z go out and do terrible things with it. >> as you might gather the senator is a strong gun control advocate, introducing legislation requiring licensing of all owners of handguns and certain weapons. >> and the man accused of murdering five people two weeks ago appeared in court today to face charges against him. >> how do you plead? >> not guilty. >> those words uttered today five times when the man accused of killing five people in a bloody carnage at this home in the middle of the night two weeks ago. the 35-year-old is accused of killing a cook in a restaurant lounge. his wife, their daughter and their son, and his girlfriend.

police say he bludgeoned victims to death hacking some of them with a sharp-edged weapon. the judge read charges, luc seemed uncomfortable and stood by his attorney at times he shook his head and took deep breaths. we asked his lawyer why. >> well, it's very difficult to have those charges read to you. it's a difficult situation. >> luc caught two days after by s.w.a.t. team member who's raided a town house and arrested his brother, brian here on unreal yatesed drug charges. a judge said the public defender dmot represent luc and then appointed goldrosen for luc. but public defender appealed this ruling saying there is no conflict of interest and it would be cheaper. >> particularly in a case like this, you're talking about a couple hundred thousand dollars in terms of cost to

car makers learning a news lesson. a study shows young people are driving less and like it that way. and california pun lick interest research group study released today says young people would take a look and think how old fashioned. who needs that? the study partner was the frontier group to promote a cleaner environment and a fair, more democratic society so perhaps that should be kept in mind when viewing the result study. >> if you like to drive... or have to, you can be enjoying less crowded highways in the

degrees below average for this date. there is things warming up a little bit tomorrow and moreover the weekend. it's still dusty out there. winds gusting last couple days and there are gusts 41 miles per hour in sfo. 31 miles per hour in half moon skbai novato. there is winds continuing to blow briskly. clear, cold tonight. warmer pattern for the weekend there is rain developing next week. overnight tonight, chilly again to cold snaft. cold into inland valleys of the north bay. lows dropping to 30 degrees in napa and there are numerous mid to upper pos. on we go showing a pool of cool air that has been the dominant feature of the weather that will be losing a grip on us next 24 hours or so.

we'll see areas and senters of high pressure moving in. and that will bring us warmer days over the weekend we'll see highs saturday and sunday around seven degrees into warmest locations. there is warming that remains breezy ask cool there. highs 56 in half moon bay. 58 san francisco. skpinland we'll see 64 in antioch. 63 in concord and north bay z down into south bay, 62 will be the high in san jose and farther south near monterey bay, we'll see some warming as well. here is the accu-weather forecast. there is warmer weather continuing throughout the weekend into monday. highs into low 70s on sunday, easter sunday. there is a slight chance of showers in the north bay sunday, most airs will be dry and there are tuesday, wednesday with a chance of rain. and right now looks like an active week. >> spencer, thank you.

abc 7 news at 5:00 police going piece by piece through a garbage can looking for what could be a gun connected to the oikos university shooting rampage. there is police say they do not know whether there is a gun in the trash can and if there is, whether it's connected to the shooting. there is more here to know. the investigation is onzbog they're trying to figure this out. seven people were killed in this shooting. police say the suspect told them that he tossed the murder weapon but he would not specify where they have been searching the oakland estuary. now this, tip perhaps, perhaps it's in a trash can. >> and there is more on this as soon as we get i in the meantime quite a scandalous story.

there hasht been another vemment in breaking news. >> police have been searching a trash can for what may, or may not be the gun used in the oikos college shooting autos we're live with the latest. >> police officers just finished sorting through the trash here at this bus stop z they did not find a gun. officers arrivedym here after getting a call from a citizen at 4:45 this afternoon that. citizen says he was here at this bus stop at 5:30 in the morning and saw what appeared to be a gun in the trash can. speculation mounted that it f.there is a gun it might be the gun used by the suspected gunman in the oikos university

shooting on monday. we're close to the university brks a half mile away. so many of us were thinking that there could be a connection. and there is÷ú a crime scene technician did sort through the trash, each piece one by one, taking about five minutes or so. did he not find anything. and many of us speculating the likelihood it's the gun may have been a little bit far fetched because one goh would have had to have taken a you turn to get to this trash can on his way to alameda where he was reported to have surrendered. so we're close to the university, there is not on the way to alameda. so... that is the latest here from oakland. again no gun was found in the trash can. abc 7 news. >> thank you. at least is there an answer now. appreciate it.
