peter's square the pope dee. denounced tariffs in nigeria. a car bomb just this morning killed an unknown number of people in nigerian marketplace. the pope struggled with a hoarse voice after conduct a three hour mass inside st. peter's basilica. the church is built on the site where remon catholics believe christ was crucified, buried and resurrected. it is located in a place known as the garden tomb. a miracle is how a u.s. navy admiral describes the casualties after a jet crashed into a virginia beach apartment complex. no one was killed. everyone is accounted for after the f-18 navy jet slammed into

a suburban neighborhood on friday. new video shows firefighters breaking doors trying to rescue any one who might have been trapped in the building. the two pilots were able to safely eject. i think the pilots deserve a lot of credit for staying with the airplane as a long as they possibly can. it appears from where the ejection was it was just within a couple of seconds to the airplane impact. the navy is investigating the crash but it could teak weeks to determine exactly what happened. special victims fund has been set up to help people whose homes for possessions were damaged or destroyed. a spring snowfall has broken a nearly 60-year-old record in alaska. more than 3 inches fell yesterday which brings the total snowfall in anchorage to, get this, nearly 134 inches. that is the highest since records have been kept. it breaks the last record set

30s along the coast. today starting out a little warmer around the bay and a nice clear start for the most part. y, as we head outside here is the way it looks. a few clouds around making for a beautiful sunrise. 6:44 the official sunrise and we will see plenty of sunshine today. at times a few higher clouds. a lot like yesterday. and in fact the temperatures aren't going to dave jet too much. upper 60s to low 70s. cool spot, half moon bay 36. 35 santa rosa. 43 san rafael. san francisco 46. yesterday we dipped down into the upper 30s here in oakland. 42 in san jose. so we are a little bit warmer from san rafael to oakland to antioch. we will have the westerly winds again keeping it chilly along the shoreline. overall, mostly sunny. the higher clouds favoring the north bay for this easter sunday. the rain not only going to hold

off through today and tomorrow, not until monday night that the northwest corner will see a few showers and the rain spreads into the entire bay area, the first system on tuesday. that means there is yet another system lurking out in the pacific for the end of the workweek. reit now the satellite and radar composite shows the rain continuing to push up into the extreme northwestern corner of the state. the low hangs back. so does the front. so that will allow for a pretty nice day that narrow ridge of high pressure allowing for some sunshine. it is going to slide off to the east, though. as it does, it brings in the front. the associated low. perhaps a thunderstorm. definitely cooler conditions with the clouds and the rain. here is the timing of the rain. monday looks line. your tuesday morning commute 5:00 we have rain. some moderate rain from the north bay into the east bay. and then throughout the rest of the morning and the afternoon it slides to the east and gets kind of hung up here in the central valley. so the afternoon commute on

tuesday looks rather wet and rainfall amounts not bad. you know, for early april we're talking about anywhere from a quarter of an inch, half inch looks like the most favorable in the north and south bay. the peninsula but over into the east bay hills maybe three quarters of an inch to upwards of an inch of rain. back home today we will see temperatures nice and comfortable where they should be for early to mid april. 63 san francisco as well as san rafael with 68 napa, concord, fremont and half moon bay the cool spot at 60. 62 monterey with low 70s returning for holster and gilroy today. santa cruz about 68 degrees. we'll keep the temperatures still mild out ahead of the front tomorrow despite the cloud cover highs in the upper 60s. upper 50s coast to near 70. and then we will see the rain come in on tuesday, cool us off. a little bit of a break.

healthcare, and copayments. four separate contracts across the nation are involved. three years ago these talks continued past the deadline and ended in agreements without a strike. california is missing out on millions of dollars spent online playing poker and now state lawmakers want a piece of the action. abc 7's capital correspondent nannette miranda has the story from sacramento. >> i have won 100, the most i have won is $200. >> it is estimated more than 2 million californians wager $13 billion a year on online poker sites. now, some lawmakers want in on the action, proposing that the state license and regulate operators for ten years. the first two years would be open to poker only, possibly more games later. it could mean more than a billion dollars for the cash h-strapped state budget over the next decade. >> the highway is littered with road kill of people who tried to stop technology and so you will either get in the game and

play or what will happen is you will just get mowed over. >> reporter: another proposal would' lou sports betting at current gambling establishments like card rooms and racetracks but california would have to ask the feds for permission because that is currently illegal except in four states. >> there are already more than one million problem and pathological gamblers in california. >> increases in crime and all of the monitor any that it takes to deal with that. increases in unemployment. increases in homelessness. increases in welfare. >> reporter: but s. supporters say people are already playing poker online. californians don't have any protections or recourse when for instance winnings aren't paid out. a coalition of indian tribes and card room operators are ready to stand behind the online poker bell but only if california gaming

well, she was part of a 13 person crew, the doctor aboard a 70-foot yacht that is part of an around the world race but this morning jane hitchens is from a bay area hospital after surviving a monster wave that slam inside their boat last weekend. sergio spoke with the crew. >> reporter: this video from the yacht shows the rough waters she was in. but these waves are pretty small compared to the monster wave that smashed into dr. jane hitchens and her fellow crew members. >> the wave was so big i think it tipped the point kind of went to its nose from what i understand. >> i have never seen anything of that size. i never felt anything of that path. >> mark burkes was steering the boat when the wave crashed. he says it was about 90 feet

tall. about as high as the mast of the yacht. this giant wheel used to be right there but when the wave came it penned three he people against it and smashed them here and the water tried to drag them out. the crew's safety harness lines are all that kept them from being swept off the boat. >> pinned by the water which is very scary. i remember thinking at the time i have broken my back. >> reporter: she will not be able to continue this ten boat race around the world when it resumes next saturday. the rest of the crew, well, they are continuing repairs including max wilson who was is also injured but unlike hitchens did not have to be evacuated by the coast guard so he opted to stay aboard. >> come hell or high water i want to go under the golden gate bridge and see the golden gate bridge. happy easter, everyone. this might be the best day of the weekend weather wise.

county. a couple of dry days before the rain arrives for everyone. on tuesday that is system number one. here here it is hung up offshore. here is the cold front that continues to sal out north and west of the golden state. it is well to the north and west and it will take awhile for this to kick on through and once it does it brings the rain. it is a cutoff low so between now and then it is going to stay back and nudge this area of h high pressure to the east so that will bring a few more high clouds but staying dry and mild today for easter. as this continues to head to the south and east, the temperatures take a hit. not tomorrow but by tuesday and they continue to slide all week long. here is a look at the rainy start to your tuesday morning commute. 5:00 we have got rain from marin to sonoma. san mateo coast and just pushing into contra costa county right on through 10:00 more rain showers that ten to push through the central

>> tearing off the roof on the house. >> magnus owns a remodeling business called anchor construction. a proud name he has used since 1996 and he intends to keep it. so this urgent notice caught his attention. >> it looks like a government form. it really does. >> reporter: the document warns that magnus' fictitious business name was about to ex-peer. by law the name must be renewed every five years or someone else can claim it. >> it looks very official and they put little file numbers. >> reporter: the notice tells magnus to complete the form right away and mail it in with a payment of $150. >> i can understand someone who receives this notification being confused. >> reporter: that is san mateo county recorder mark church. he is in charge of registering fictitious business names. as he points out the notice is not official at all. >> this is a private company trying to make a quick proud.

>> fictitious business name renewal center is a private company, not a government agency. a charges $150 to renew a business name but that is four times higher than the county's renewal fee of $40. ten businesses in the past month reported they paid the company but the county never did receive the proper renewal forms and some didn't include the $34 filing fee. >> that is when they learned that their business name had not been renewed and they had end kateed to us they already sent the money the $150 to this company. >> magnus did not send any money to the company but did contact 7 on your side and we found fictitious business renewal center has an f rating with the better business bureau and more than a dozen complaints reported online. we spoke to the company attorney and he said this is a legitimate business. he said a lot of people want

professional help to make sure the renewal is done right and only 1% or less of customers think we are the government. 99% are not fooled if they feel like they were confused we will give them their money back. he also said the company will gave refunds to any one who paid the fee but did not get a renewal. it does include a disclaimer in small print at the bottom saying this service has not been approved or endorsed by any government agency. and this offer is not being made by an agency of the government. this is not a bill. it is a solicitation. the county recorders around the bay area say they have received scattered reports from consumers who have received these solicitations. church says it is not necessary to pay a company to renew your business name. the process takes about five minutes. >> you are dealing with someone who has solicited you. you don't know who they are and for a rather high fee. >> i don't know how much of this goes on or how many people

annual christmas displays. how about an easter egg tradition called egg shell land. the display in lindenhurst, ohio features more than 38,000 brightly colored plastic eggs. this year's theme old friends and new and even features the muppets. a couple started egg shell land more than 50 years ago. americans are going to spend $2 billion this year on easter candy. that will buy you 120 million-pounds of the sweet stuff. according to the national confectioner's association, candymakers produced 16 million jellybeans and 90 million chocolate easter bunnies this year. when you get an easter bunny do you chomp off the ears first? >> of course. do you? >> yes, sure. >> we have great weather for the egg hunts today and all that candy eating. it may melt if you leave it out in the sun. a lot of sunshine today in most bay area neighborhoods.
