6:01 on this wednesday morning. thanks for joining us i'm eric thomas. and i'm katie marzullo in for kristen sze. a rollover accident is creating problems on the embarcadero. >> this crash just happened 45 minutes ago. you will notice the car has been flipped over so it back on its wheels tow truck at the scene they've been clearing up the debris. i think they will clear this shortly. traffic reopened in both directions of the 'emment. it is moving southbound and northbound. -- what will also notice this accident is on the f-line muni tracks. we just contacted the muni spokesperson the train should be running through at this point. we would see trains. they said they are going to operate on a normal schedule which means they probably

expect this to clear quickly so they are not doing anything out of the ordinary for the f-line. look for possible delays for the first few cars that head through. we are following a crash westbound 237 at the laurens expressway blocking a couple lanes. snow in the sierra from yesterday's system that continues to slide into the mountains central valley also rain locally developing over in the hills there towards lodi manteca tracy light rain. closer to home north bay marin county around west of 101 between highway 1 and inverness light showers and a few showers popping up here around the pescadero area half moon bay and ben lomond. we are not out of woods yet. the activity going to intensify later on mild temperatures right now. 6: now. this morning's rain may slow but -- hopefully won't stop a new volunteer search expected in hours for missing

morgan hill teenager sierra lamar. terry mcsweeney is live in the command center with the latest on the story. >> reporter: starting 8:00 this morning that is when the first group of volunteers are going to be heading out into some pretty muddy terrain here this southern santa clara county. you can see the sierra search center is looking for volunteers if you are available they would love to have you here. take a look at who they are looking for this is 15-year-old sierra lamar missing since march 16th she left home on the way to the school bus stop and never got to school. her purse was found a couple days after she disappeared but the trail is cold. over the weekend hundreds turned out as they have been every time they've had a search foreseer rap. they scoured the area around here -- a search for sierra. they the area again. also over the weekend some 49ers turned out alex smith

and others were here to lend their celebrity to the effort. today the klaas kids foundation needs help looking sphere era it is a difficult search -- looking for sierra. it is a difficult search. listen to the mother talking about how this is weighing on her. >> as each day goes on, it is agonizing. it is difficult. i definitely am suffering sleep deprivation. as far as you know -- i need to focus on the belief that sierra is gonna come forth. >> reporter: the search today may be catching a break. i was listen to lisa argen's forecast sounds like the next rain going to be really coming down not until 3:00 this afternoon. the search starts at 8:00. they will take groups out from 8:00 to 1:00. you can get here at 1:00 and still have a chance to help.

available under the law. the prosecutors say it takes time to build a case that's why the 17-year-old was released from jail yesterday. investigators say they need more time before they decide how to charge him. abc7 is not revealing his identity because he's a minor. he did not comment or answer our questions yesterday. sources say it looks like he will be charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter. they are waiting for toxicology results and his cell phone records to see if gross negligence was involved. that would elevate the charges from misdemeanors to felonies. family members and friends tell us they are whiching to wait. >> i would rather have them go the route they are -- going. i want them to get the evidence. if this kid did something that he did the truth will come out. >> it crazy, because what he did basically tore a family apart. i think he should be

prosecuted to the fullest extent. >> reporter: 41-year-old solaiman nuri and his youngest daughter hadessa were killed while riding their bikes saturday morning. funerals scheduled for this morning in antioch. the family has set up a memorial fund. if you are interested in donating we the information you need on abc7news.com. amy hollyfield abc7 news. this morning a man charged with seriously injuring a boy in a hit-and-run accident last august following a giants-phillies game will be sentenced. last month the 22-year-old agreed to spend a year in jail under a plea. he will receive five years probation. last august vargas seriously injured ryan white as he was leaving the game with his family. vargas also hit a woman and slammed into several cars. his attorney admits he was binge drinking before the accident.

south bay choir teacher has been arrested on charges of trying to film his students undressing. aldrin jason nicholas was chaperoning a school trip near watsonville over the weekend when investigators say he used the spy pen to film girls 13 to 17 in a hotel bathroom. he's facing charges of producing child porn. he has been suspended from his jobs with the youth choir and salinas high school. police in san mateo addressed -- arrested a kung fu instructor. the girls are 9 and 11 they were taking classes with the suspect. investigators now want to talk with parents of any 8 to 12-year-old students had who may have come in contact with wong a redwood city resident worked at the academy from 1999 to 2011. time for another check of the weather.

overnight tonight. keep that umbrella with you. good morning. i have great news on the -- on this overturned crash in san francisco at the embarcadero. we've been following breaking news at green. just a couple minutes ago during lisa's report that over turned car crash has been cleared from the scene. you will notice the muni tracks no longer blocked everything operating on the f-line great news traffic open in both directions. but this crash south bay westbound 237 at the laurens expressway four cars block left lane traffic spotters reported heavy traffic near the scene picking up slowing westbound. chp there calling for a flatbed and a couple other tow trucks. slow spot but not much of a delay at the bay bridge toll. 6:10. ready -- major announcement on a south bay project many said would never become a reality.

welcome back. attention smokers year options for lighting up outside will be more limited in san jose the city council approved new ordinance to further restrict outdoor smoking. no smoking areas will include out door dining common areas of apartment complexes mobile home parks and there will be no smoking while waiting in line for city services. no word on when the new ordinance will take effect.

tomorrow rain or shine groundbreaking will begin on bart tension to san jose in santa clara county. work already began in fremont in 2009. the extension will cost more than three billion dollars. when finished it will run 16 miles from fremont to the berryessa area of east san jose. the project will create more than 1600 construction jobs and construction is slated to be finished by 2015 with the full extension opening a year later. this morning voters in the brisbane elementary school district appear ready to reject a $156 annual parcel tax that school officials say would have closed a half a million dollar budget deficit. it requires 2/3 majority to pass with 1218 votes passed it appears on 65.7% of the voters have approved i. the final count will take days to verify. if the measure fails the

december of 2004. just hours from now a concord father and daughter will be laid to rest. the funeral less than 24 hours after the teenager arrested for hitting and killing them was released from jail. amy hollyfield has exclusive video of that teenager and the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: we were there when his father picked him up from jail and took him home which is less than a mile from the crash site which is now a memorial to the two victims who were killed. some people who have stopped by here tell us they think the driver should still be in jail. the 17-year-old did not comment on answer our questions when he got out yesterday afternoon. we are -- we are not releasing his identity because he's a minor. the district attorney said investigators need more time to bill their case before they file charges. they say he will likely face two counts of vehicular manslaughter. but, they want to see his toxicology results and

city workers and the mayor are claiming victory following a court decision on the city's controversial pension proposal. yesterday a three-judge panel ruled in favor of firefighters police officers and other city employees who filed suit to get the wording changed on the upcoming june ballot measure. the appeals court ruled the language was biased specifically the phrase pension reform. instead the city will change the phrase to pension modification. if approved measure b would reduce benefits for city employees. unions say this would be illegal. the mayor says it is necessary to keep the city afloat after years of lay-offs and cuts in services. this morning trails in san francisco's golden gate park are closed to dogs because of worries over coyotes the trails are near jfk drive. last week a neighbor walking her dogs says they were threatened by a coyote. officials say this is pupping season and the coyotes are defending their territory because they probably have a
