outside. and i ran over to where the body was on the ground. i looked to see if he was breathing no. breathing. i didn't see the shirt moving. then i see a group of people gathering around the girl on the ground over there. >>reporter: police are calling this a murder-suicide. they aren't talking about a possible motive or what type of realizeship the 2 had. but they did have one thing in common. >> we found 17 month old baby in one of the vehicle associated to the 2 individual individuals. child protective services service has the baby at this time. >> the little girl was in the back seat of the bmw. when the man shot himself by the driver side door. police found a handgun near his body. >> what is society come to? it's disgusting. >>reporter: anger and frustration film here. shopping center draws people of all ages. and it is geared to family. >> could hit me. could hit me and my grandson walk out of there. none what to think

about it. it's really, really frustrating. >>reporter: police will not release the names of the man and woman. all they will say is that they are both asian. in san jose, lisa, abc 7 news. when berkeley police shot and injured a suspect they say opened fire on officers last night, it happened just before 11 near the corner of eighth and delaware street. police say the shooting happened while they were searching for suspect who ran from a vehicle stopped several blocks away. man was hit in the leg and arm. he is expected to survive. berkeley police investigators in the alameda county district attorney's office of will look into the shootings. officers involved are on paid administrative leave. severe weather is pummeling the midwest writ now. taking a look at live pictures from western he can la home where everyone is on alert keeping watch watch for tornadoes and right to the center of the screen that appears to be a funnel cloud that came down in oklahoma. left of the screen looks like we see another one. so a lot of severe weather

going on right now. in nebraska a violent hail storm broke window and tore off the siding of homes. a woman shot the storm as it came down even held hail in her hand to show the size of it. 3 possible tornadoes touched down early today in oklahoma. news helicopter took advantage of a break in the weather and got these shots of rav damage from earlier this morning. in kansas the high winds ripped a barn apart tossing trees around and forced one man to hide in his bath ramp. >> big crash. boom. ground shaking. just loud loud noise. literally sounded lake somebody drove that the side of the house. big crash. >>reporter: natural weather service issued a warning for plain state rest don't brace for life threatening weather. let's get right to lee for for closer lack what's going on in the region right now. lee. >>reporter: yes the wall cloud and possible funnel you just saw from the live shot from oklahoma is probably coming from this super cell right

here. we were picking it up nastily. look at the explosion already. cold air moving in from the noort. warm moist air ahead of it and this definitely a recipe for a lot of tornado activity tonight. already the des moines has seen quite a bit of activity. some very gusty winds and also severe thunderstorms. super cells developing this batch heading to cedar rapid. down a little bit further and you can see from wichita all the way up to kansas city we do look, how these explode. lack at them all in a line here. unfortunately it looks like a lot of these storms will continue to form over tonight so we are talking 5:00 a.m. in the morning is when some of the tornado activities will develop and that does not bode well for folks living in the areas. we take a look at more calmer forecast here locally coming u up. >> thank you lee. back in the bay area crew spent the day in

piedmont clearing up a mud slide which closed part of l this avenue. we are live with the latest on the slide. i understand they just opened the road up there. >>reporter: yes they opened it up about 5 minutes ago. picked up the last road close sign opened up traffic. see cars passing by. right over here is where the rock and mud slide was. you cap see part of the hill basically came down that the street. kahn see the barrier there. the last hour we watched the crew using the heavy, wrapped up this clean up using heavy construction equipment. with the front end loader and shovel they carted away mud and rock that slid down this hill yesterday morning. one of the biggest concerns when this happened was the house at the top of the hill. the worry was that the foundation may have shifted putting the stability of the structure in question but engineers have determined that it is safe for now so long as no more of the hill slides. this is what it looked like yesterday. just after the

slide. couple tree came down and brought down power lines along with them. before the road opened crew were working on clearing up water that was still draining from the hillside. >> we put in a little drain that will put it out that the storm drain system and just get rid of the water so there is nothing piling up behind these concrete barrier we put in. >>reporter: now the huge concrete barrier were hoisted into place as essentially the finishing touches before the road opened. along with channeling water that is still seeping out of the hillside. they should also help in case there is another potential slide but again you can see that those are in place. they have also worked out a bit of a drainage system. again if the last 5 minutes or so moraga avenue reopen entered piedmont. see the cars whizzing by. street closed for a little more than 36 hours. live in piedmont, abc 7 news. >> the thanks so much. >> the saturated ground is still causing problems in the
