divers have returned to the small bodies of water along highway 1 0one. less than a mile from morgan hill home. but this time special side scanning equipment that allows for a more thorough search. >> provide both reflection and shadow and gives you more things to look at than just a normal picture. we can shadow can sometimes tell us more about what we are looking at than the actual reflection. >>reporter: all of this comes on the same day investigators announce new development in the sierra la mar case. 15-year-old has been missing for exactly one month. they say crime lab results have given them new leads. >> time lab reports have resulted in some leads that require further follow-up by the detectives at this time. >> since sierra disappearance investigators have found her handbag and cell phone along the side of the road near her house. in a nearby field a box labeled handcuffs ncaa and some used condom. whether new lead come from those items remains to be seen. the family gathered this evening at the

headquarters for the volunteer search effort. . the balloons carrying message of hope that situation era will come home safely. >> everybody we are so writful if in giving us hope. i know she's going to be return to us because of that. >>reporter: divers will be out again tomorrow and we'll continue searching those bodies of world trade center for the rest of the week. live from the sheriff's department in san jose, abc 7 news. >> all right thanks lillian. >> we have exclusive sky 7 video tonight of the yacht involved in the weekend tragic sailing accident. take a look. this is the 38 foot low speed chase lying on the rocks at farallons island. hit a massive way sending the craw member into the surf. one sailor dead. 4 remain missing and presumed dead. the race is one of the toughest for local sailors beginning in san francisco bay and out to the

farallons and back. we talked to one sailor who was at the scene of the accident just moments after it happened. allen? >>reporter: carolyn we are in the marina close to the starting point of the race. yesterday the coast guard called off the search for the missing and people are wondering if this could have been prevented. >> look at the waves. >>reporter: as he rounded the farallons island and shot the video he saw the wreck 38 foot yacht. where that both went was where many of us have gone. before. he says the skipper of the low speed chase, 41-year-old james bradford told him he turned the boat to retrieve 4 crew members who had been swept overboard. the skipper told him another wave tossed him and 2 others overboard. >> objective is to come and close to that to sail straight out here and round the island and come back. >>reporter: the death of one sailor and fore others missing ask many asking if the skipper

sailed too close to the island. >> i asked if he was between 25 and 50 yards. his answer was no. he was much further after. >>reporter: life vest were mandatory for the 105-year-old race. but safety tether operational. racing veteran said they are not widely used unless conditions are exceptionally bad. >> can't really go that far and if you are getting set up to weekend up doing a maneuver on the boat, you need the frame to wind up moving around. >>reporter: all ships are required to stop the and render aid but the offshore yacht racing association which oversees the race says it was too dangerous. >> at some point they figured there was nothing they could do and they went on rather than stay in what can be a dangerous place. >>reporter: the tragedy will likely have sailors debating the treachery of the farallons and just how close is too klochlts. >> you may believe that you are far enough away for your open safety and crew safety but

for life. she wanted to be a professional baseball player. >>reporter: alexis bush was also a ball player. catch interthe california women baseball league. flares that league will wear a patch in her memorandum l ri for the rest of their season. in addition to alexis there are 3 other missing crew members. 3 have been rescued including brian khong and james bradford the owner and captain of the yacht. dick vas was also among those rescued. he suffered a broken leg. missing include 25-year-old jordan fromm of san rafael and allen kay hill of tiburon both considered world class sailors. kay hill friend elmer morris on board the yacht and visiting energy scientist from ire land. he was remembered today by co-workers at lawrence berkeley national lab. >> he was out doors side. played hockey and kite surfing and loved the out doors. he was very successful rising sta star. >>reporter: the only craw

the hospital. his passenger died at the scene. the incident shut down traffic in the area and the 5 80 off ramp closed for about 3 hours here. >> fire that raced through vallejo home in february killing 2 dog was started by tear gas canister. they thought 6 robbers were hold up inside when they fired the rounds but suspect had already taken off. fire department investigators say the tear gas canister ignited a flammable household product and iling night 2 alarm fire that did about 60,000 dollars worth of damage to the home. parents in concord on alert after report of attempted kidnapping. school officials say seventh grade girl walking along glaitioner drive to el dorado middle school this morning when man asked her to get into his beige colored van. >> she said no. and walked away. he continued to ask her to get in the van. stating he would give her a ride to schoo school. sheree pete he hadly told him no. >> that was audio from automated message sent out by
