kristen sze. i'm eric thomas. this morning divers will go back in the water looking for clues in the disappearance of sierra lamar. investigators are now following new leads. terry mcsweeney is live in san jose with more. >> reporter: >> reporter: new leads that's what we are hearing -- how significant those leads are, they are not saying. they are not saying a lot about this new information. look at what they were doing yesterday, taking dives into bodies of water less than a mile from the home where sierra lamar lived the home she left march 16th, on the way to the bus stop. divers searched this area before. this time they are using special scanning equipment they say allows for a more thorough search. >> it provides reflections and shadows. it gives more to look at than a normal picture. shadows can s tell us more

than the reflection. >> reporter: the new diving effort comes on the day the sheriff's office announced new leads, as a result of crime lab reports, investigators found her phone, her handbag, some clothes inside that hand bag. they've also found a box labeled handcuffs with condoms inside. whether the new leads come from any of that or something else entirely, the sheriff's office is not saying. coming up, sierra's family tries to stay positive as the days go by, it has been more than a month now. we will show you the effort yesterday to try to lift the spirits of the family. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. this morning police have a new warning for parents tan students in concord after an attempted kidnapping of a local students. officials out an automated message reporting a man asked a 7th grade girl to get into

his van. she was walking to eldorado middle school yesterday morning. she repeatedly refused and managed to get to a safe location. the man described heavy set in his 30s with a black mustache and goatee. amy hollyfield will have more at 5 a.m.. >> the offshore yacht race ago social says it will wait to see the coast guard's complete report on last weekend's deadly accident before deciding if changes should be may. yacht racing competitor was in another boat and saw the wrecked 38 foot yacht after it hit the rocks off the farallon islands. this is video shot by sky 7 hd. he says the skipper told him he turned the boat to retrieve four crewmembers swept overboard. the skipper told him another wave tossed him and two others overboard. the death of one sailor and four missing others has many asking if the skipper sailed too close to the island. >> you may believe you are far

and kickbacks. meanwhile the commissioner head of the office in san francisco invoked his right to remain silent when questioned during the hearing. he could be facing criminal charges. yesterday we learned in addition to the lavish conference there were eight preconference visits. those cost more than $130,000 in public funds. these are photographs of neeley in a luxury suite during one of those visits. this morning we are learning of one death but no major damage after a 6.7 quake in chile. it hit late last night. look at the shaking during a tv newscast. it was strong enough to shake buildings in the capital city of santiago, 70 miles away. within man died of apparently heart -- of apparent heart attack.

presidio parkway. the project is expected to be complete in 2015. san francisco muni officials are expected to vote today on proposals to let young people ride city buses and street cars free and begin charging drivers for metered parking sundays that could help muni reverse a 52 million dollar budget shortfall over the next two years. muni is also considering installing 1,000 new meters and increasing citations by $5. muni officials are considering the free ride program for the city's youth and whether to limit it to only low income youngsters. right now the space shuttle discovery is making a big journey to its final home the smithsonian. it left florida 40 minutes ago aboard a modifieded jumbo jet for a low altitude farewell flight. a similar fly-over is planned over the nation's capital and down the mall before landing

people living along the caltrain tracks may have a few sleepless nights and noise weekends over the next machine. caltrain will be operating trains from 10 at night until 4:00 in the morning for the next six weeks part of the qualification process train engineers must go through to familiarize themselves with the operations. residents will notice an increase in train activity and horn noise more crossing gates will be down. san francisco city attorney herrera has filed a response a motion by suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi's lawyers. mirkarimi's attorneys argue her 's office is representing lee while also advising the
