about the president's security, as that scandal grows. >> nearly two dozen women were brought back to the hotel where the agents were staying. a supposedly secure zone. abc's tahman bradley is joining us from washington now, with new details in the case. good morning, tahman. >> reporter: good morning, rob and paula. key members of congress says alleged behavior like this could compromise the president's safety. investigators were on the ground, talking to key witnesses. the secret service members accused of soliciting prostitutes are about to face secures heat. the agents will be forced to take lie-detector tests about their behavior in colombia. investigators are on the ground, speaking to witnesses and collecting surveillance video. many of the suspected prostitutes have been identified and will be interviewed. >> when you bring a guest into a hotel in colombia, they have to leave their i.d. at the main desk.

>> reporter: some are talking, trying to explain away their bad judgment. >> some admit they did the wrong thing. others are denying this had anything to do with prostitution. these were women they happened to meet. >> reporter: ten or more military personnel from every branch are implicatmplicated. and there's information that as many as 21 women were involved. critics say national security was put at risk. >> they could be employees of local drug cartels. they could be spies, planting eavesdropping devices. >> reporter: key members of congress, called the behavior despicable. the white house says president obama still has confidence in the secret service director. the president is receiving regular updates on the investigation. rob? paula? >> all right. tahman bradley, live for us this morning. thanks, tahman.

the other big story this morning, in texas, a newborn was found alive, after his mother was gunned down outside of a houston area doctor's office. investigators are trying to piece together what led to the shooting. and they're also checking to see if surveillance video may have captured the scene. taylor marie golden and her baby left the pediatricians office. a woman got out of the car and shot golden multiple times. this witness does not want to be identified. >> pop, pop, pop. >> and when you looked out. >> everybody was scattered. >> the child was then put into the suspect vehicle. and that's when the mother tried to get into the car. and the car sped away, knocking the lady to the ground. >> reporter: a man who was also in a lexus, got out and grabbed golden's 3-day-old son. >> there are several people being spoken with currently. >> reporter: police and s.w.a.t. teams converged on an apartment complex where the lexus was

found parked. the young mother died at the hospital. >> the last few hours, the entire focus of the sheriff's department and law enforcement has been to see if the 3-day-old child could be recovered. and within a few minutes ago, we were able to successfully reobtain the child. the child is being reunited with its father. like any parent, i'm sure he's ecstatic. the kid is three days old. and on the same day he recovers a child, he loses a white. >> police will not say if golden was targeted. but witnesses heard as many as seven shots before she eventually collapsed there in the parking lot. a key factor looming over mitt romney's race for the white house, the growing perception that voters don't like him all that much. a recent abc news/"washington post" poll, shows romney's likability factor is 35%, lower than any major party candidate since the mid-'80s. that's next to 56% for president

obama. one man making known his dislike for president obama, is rocker and gun supporter, ted nugent. romney has not responded directly. but his advisers say romney wants to promote civility during the campaign. the secret service is looking into nugent's potentially threatening remarks. after owl the potential running mates in the mix, new jersey governor, chris christie, is weighing in, when he did during speculation he was running for president. christie said he is, quote, not looking to become vice president of the united states, end quote. but he is leaving that door open, saying, if romney calls him, he is willing to listen. >> leaving the door open. exactly. they all do, don't they? in other news this morning, north korea is threatening retaliation, after the u.s. dropped a food deal because of that rocket launch last week. a top official said peace was very important. but that the dignity of the nation was a higher priority for the north koreans. the state department says the

threat is part of a pattern of bad behavior. and nothing has been ruled out. rescuers will try once again this morning to free a trapped whale off the coast of southern california. the 40-foot gray whale is entangled in up to 100 feet of fishing line. it's preventing it from fully using one of its fins. rescuers managed to loosen some of the fishing line before it got too dark to continue. but the whale has not been making it easy. it's been trying to ditch the rescue boat, for ten miles. not knowing that the rescue boat is trying to help it. time, now, for weather from across the country on this wednesday morning. thunderstorms, hail and gusty winds from the carolina s to atlanta and orlando. showers around chicago, green bay, minneapolis and the dakotas. up to ten inches of snow in the northern rockies and cascades. and some showers from seattle to northern california. >> 76 in sacramento. mostly 60s from billings to salt

welcome back, everyone. there are questions, this morning, about who will follow warren buffett. the 81-year-old investor has prostate cancer. although it was caught early and the prognosis is good. he says it won't keep him from running berkshire hathaway. but shareholders are more than likely to have the oracle of omaha to name the successor he has chosen. citigroup shareholders are mad and they voted about it. they voted against the pay packages for big executives. it's the first such vote at a major brank bank. and more such protests could follow. overseas markets were up because of encouraging news from spain and u.s. corporations. tokyo's nikkei average added 203 points today. hong kong's hang seng rose 201

points. and in london, the ftse opened higher. on wall street, the dow gained 194 points yesterday. the nasdaq index added 54. president obama is answering criticism about high gas prices. he's calling on congress to give regulators more power against oil speculation. mr. obama says that market manipulation leads to artificial shortages and oil, and higher gas prices. republicans who control the house are unlikely to go along in this election year. when is a penny worth 1 million bucks? well, when it's from 1792. one of the first coins ever struck by the u.s. mint. the miss liberty copper cent has a silver center, an experiment. there's a bid of $1 million. the hammer comes down on the auction tomorrow evening. and high-end shoemaker christian louis vuitton says,

divers have been searching reservoirs near her santa clara county home. but so far, they have turned up nothing. and a suburban detroit woman who won a $1 million lottery jackpot, she's been charged with welfare fraud. prosecutors say amanda clayton continued to get food stamps and public health insurance for months after accepting the lump sum payment. the 25-year-old has pleaded not guilty. and she could face up to eight years in prison. an elderly florida woman has now been charged with careless driving, after crashing her car into a crowded supermarket. just to warn you a little bit. this video could be hard to watch. surveillance cameras captured the 76-year-old plowing through an entrance of a publix in central florida and continuing right through the store. ten people were injured in all this, including a baby, as well as a man who was pinned under her car. abc's "the bachelor," and its spin-off, "the

bachelorette," are accused of racial discrimination. two black men say they were dismissed from an open casting call, before being allowed to audition. over ten seasons, not one single person of color has ever been featured. no comment yet from abc or the production companies. and in sports news this morning, a major milestone for baseball's 49-year-old veteran, jamie moyer. we get the story, now, from espn news. >> good morning. i'm don bell with your "sportscenter" update. jamie moyer, making his major league debut in 1986. he's now 49 years old. looking to become the oldest player in baseball history to win a game. rockies and padres. moyer inducing a double-play there. later on, facing jason bartlett. and induces a 6-4-3 double. facing cameron maybin.
