invading neighborhoods and causing concern in parts that haven't seen swarms like this in years. we're live with the story. laura? >> hi, care yes lynn, we've heard about colony collapse, it's a problem around the world but not happening here in contra costa county. let me show you bees that have been collected here in contra costa neighborhoods just recently. experts say swarms are pockets of healthy, disease resistant bees that have been immune from problems others are having. it's the season to be a bee in contra costa county. in concord thousands of bees swarmed a car until a kid in a bee keeper suit gathered them up as shown in these pictures provided to abc 7 news. >> this is different. >> shelly lives in the same neighborhood. her car didn't get swarmed but

rescuers trying to free a whale tangled in fishing line near southern california. they've been trying to cut the line away from the whale's head. colored buoy as tached to the whales and yesterday, they were able to remove about 100 feet of fishing line. mark matthews is on the headlands there have been several incidents called recent weeks.

>> there is gray whales and this is the third gray whale that has been caught in fishing gear in the past month. from there, you can see the gray whaul trailing fishing gear floats and a boat. yesterday a team from pacific marine mammal center was able to cut away roughly 50 feet of the fishing line. the whale was moving too fast. >> i dive all over the world. if they're hanging onto the road it's going to rip the mask off and tank off. >> and a naturalist says the video shows a healthy gray whale able to swim for day was a fishing net but unable to feed. and grays are bottom feeder autos it will be impossible with boats wrapped around the head it can't scrape and

fishing gear is one hazard encountered in california. this pregnant blue whale washed ashore. half a dozen were killed in the same way this one on the bow of the ship that hit it when the ship came into the bay. but he says it isn't ship strikes or commercial whaling but gill nets that are the greatest threats. >> the greatest threat to whales is overfishing. >> he says man is stripping the ocean of certain species of fish. >> competition out there is so severe among all marine mammals. we've depleted the ocean commercially of fish. >> and if they'll continue to search for the whale it cannot eat because of the fishing

late today on the hollywood walk of fame flowers placed on the star of a television ik yachblt a man who wasn't a musician but whose name is synonymous with rock and roll. dick clark has died he had a pro found impact on the entertainment industry. he suffered a massive heart tack today and died at age 82. don sanchez is hear now with some of the bay area musicians he influenced. >> interesting and people knew him from around here.

the court papers and her registration receipt. the cops were sympathetic. but still she was getting stopped. she also received this $279 parking ticket for expired tags and her records still show that had citation. >> i was frustrated at this point. and called channel 7. >> within hours, she got a call to come down with her paper work and after a smog test she was handed the orange sticker. >> i am so incredibly relieved. >> dmv said we're unsure why this took so long to be handled. there may have been an issue with communication. we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. now, she carefully applies that precious tag.
