anything but it was too late. >> they called 9/11. the man was in not moving when they he was taken away. this was concrete turned to glass by extreme heat. about 73 -- homes left power. >> victim who has not been identified died tonight at the hospital. few minutes ago we talked to a spokesperson that they won't confirm it was caused by a balloon but it's still investigation. they are not sure how long it will take before they can restore power to 73 homes. developing news out of west sacramento tonight where authorities skia carjacking suspect has been shot and killed. it begin around 6:00 a.m. when officers were fired at while chasing a white pickup truck. the driver ran away.

it's believed to have hot wired a tractor and then drove to it another carjacking. officers spotted the suspect running into an upstairs building. as deputies started to talk to them. officers were able to rescue other residents. they shot the suspect. >> remembering the lives lost in last night's yachting crash. the load speed chase will be retrieved from the farallon islands early next week. they paid tribute before setting out on a race. sergio has the story live. >> reporter: it has been a somber week for the yachting community in the bay area since last week's accident that lost five members of the low speed chase. tonight it was an opportunity for boaters to get back onto the water and pay tribute to those

battle tonight. the judge rejected the request to overturn his suspension. they say the suspension was unconstitutionally vague since as not related to his duties as sheriff. but the judge says those issues should be raised before the ethics commission. mirkarimi says he tried to tell mayor ed lee's how the bruises got on his wife's warm arm. >> you don't know even know what had happened. would you like to hear my story. the mayor was mute or changed the subject. >> but a deputy attorney says the mayor's recollection is very different. >> someone tells you they want to tell you something. you say okay. you wait for them to tell you what it is. sheriff mirkarimi didn't do that. >> the ethics commission hearing will begin on monday. both mirkarimi and mayor are expected to testify. >> closed tonight for the first time in over a hundred years.

the man who says he killed trayvon martin in self-defense remains behind bars tonight. it was an emotional day in court as george zimmerman apologized directly to martin's parents. >> they watched him shuffle to the stand. his gray suit hiding a bullet proof vest. >> only to be shocked once more when he directly the parents of the boy he killed. >> i wanted to say i am sorry for the loss of your son. i did not know how old he was, i thought he was a little bit younger than i am i did not know

motion and set bond $150,000. >> it was devastating that he got to give a self-serving apology to help him get a bond. zimmerman is expected to be released as soon as his attorneys get the money. one week from now doyle drive in san francisco will close to traffic for the entire weekend. it will give them a chance to demolish the old doyle drive. the portion that will close and new tunnel will carry drivers to the golden gate bridge. this video from caltrans shows you exactly how it will look once the first tunnel opens to the public after next weekend. until the project is complete in 2015, cars will share the tunnel separated by a movable barrier. doyle drive will be closed from 8 p.m. next friday to monday at 5:00 a.m. >> i.b.m. researchers are developing a powerful battery to

897 in concord. 82 in oakland. mit mid 80s clearlake, ukiah and san rafael, close to 90 and 63 in half moon bay. we're actually going up in most areas tomorrow. tonight temperatures are not falling much. as a matter of fact it's pretty warm out there and most areas in the 60s and 70s. we have a couple of 50s around half moon bay and oakland. tomorrow, mild to warm and we're looking at the cooling beginning on sunday. so let me show you the satellite and radar. strong ridge of high pressure that is providing us with the warm weather. warming trend has been going on for a couple days. tomorrow it will hit its peak and inland areas are going to soar. patches of fog near the coastline but most areas in the mid-50s to mid 60s. half moon bay, low 50s there but

when you start out and you have a strong ridge of high pressure, subsiding air creates that warm weather and that is why we're expecting some real heat there. together may be dense in the morning like we saw this morning be aware of that but quick clearing. coastal areas, mild tomorrow afternoon. bay side will be warm and inland communities, downright hot for your saturday afternoon. sunday, everything changes, wind switches direction with a southerly wind, sfg going to come back up the coastline. we call it a southerly surge that is going to cool the coast off. and cool the north bay, that is where you get the cooler marine hair so it takes a drop. tomorrow they are going rise in the south bay. temperatures are up in into the low 90s for san jose, campbell and los gatos. 77 degree in menlo park. 87 for redwood city. 69 in pacifica.
