clear skies. 56 in oakland. and 63 in san jose. so 24 hours ago we were cooler in red woods city. we are warmer this morning. retaining the heat here in the east bay valleys. but we've already dropped off in the north bay valleys and here's why. we have some moisture coming up from santa cruz to the peninsula. 11:00, 12:00 it finally begins to pull back. we are looking at a sunny afternoon but the sea breeze is back. ú%e cool down isunder way. as much as ten degrees cooler in the bay. i'll tell you about the rest coming up. terry. >> the first time since the deadly shooting on april 2nd, classes resume tomorrow at oakland oykas university. police say the man admitted to the shooting rampage saying he was angered after they refused

[horn] >> each vessel signaled and slowly made it back to port only a boat pulling a ding guy with wreaths and staying in the sunset. >> it was a week ago this weekend a large wave washed four crewmembers overboard during the race around the faralon islands

the constant media attention caused too many distractions. they say they support her and her decision to resign. >> i loved being supervisor, and i think i did a hell of a job. i do. i think i accomplished a lot in that short year. >> the board will have 60 days in which to select a replacement to serve out her term. if they can't find one in 60 days, governor jerry brown will appoint a successor. abc news. suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi heads into tomorrow's hearing having lost another job to get his job back. on friday a judge rejected hissy to overturn his suspension on misconduct charges. he said it was unconstitutionally vague since it was not related to his duties as sheriff but the judge said hose those issues should be raised before the ethics commission. he was involved in a maryland charge involving his case. the mayor ed lee is expected to

testify tomorrow. in the county volunteers will be out to search for missing morgan hill teenager sierra lamar. the 15-year-old girl vanished more than five weeks ago to catch a school bus. the canines participated in the search. the share i was department said they have looked there before but the goal of yesterday's search was to be much more thorough. this morning we have a name and a picture of a carjacking suspect shot to death after a day long stand offer. the sacramento police believe 38-year-old jimmy lee graves is the man who fired at cars and police, and then buried himself in the apartment. then a witness saw him start a fire inside the apartment.

the north bay and san francisco. 48. it's a quarter mile visibility half moon bay. we have clear skies to the east. you see nice and mild syl from fremont, antioch mountain. low 50s san francisco. 59 in san rafael. we are looking at temperatures cooler already in the spots where the fog has made its presence felt. from oakland, san francisco, san rafael, santa rosa and even into concord. elsewhere still running pretty mild this morning. it will continue to take a little bit of time, especially throughout the morning hours and the afternoon to bring in those westerly breezes. so clear inland. the coastal clouds. sunny and carolina today. still looking at a little bit of rain coming our way. midweek a couple of opportunities. not much out there. but a dramatic change from what we had yesterday. you see still the huge ridge over us. but take a look. this area of low pressure, and it's a cut off low, is dropping to the south and that's how the fog is responding coming up north. so the ridge beginning to weaken, sliding to the south and

east. and a little piece of energy from this system sliding in as soon as tomorrow. so some of our higher elevations late tomorrow, east bay hills, north bay hills, could see an isolated thunderstorm, but otherwise we are back to sunny skies, morning fog, and that next system coming in not until the middle of the week. so here's a look. you will notice by 2:00 we do see the sunny conditions, but by sunset, yeah, the fog will be moving back inland and we will be looking at that typical pattern for the next several days before that trough wants to visit us. in terms of high temperatures statewide, still quite warm in the central valley, the san joaquin valleys with 80s and 90s there. but about 70 today in san francisco. still some mid-80s here. so we are down about 5 degrees in the inland valleys. 72 in oakland today. but look at the north bay. this is at least 10 to 12 degrees cooler. san rafael, 75. 64 half moon bay. staying cool here and it will be

california voters decide on the issue in november. abc7 news. there is a report this morning that pg&e new in 989 about a leak on the same pipeline that caused the deadly san bruno gas explosion. they call the leak caused by a faulty seam weld about 9 miles south of where the disaster occurred. "the chronicle" also reports the document was turned in just last month, well after the conclusion of state and federal investigations. the company denies the 1929 leak occurred along a seam. that would have required an inspection of all 51 miles of that pipeline. a searched neighborhood is getting new trees thanks to the effort of a 13-year-old boy. his learning project collected $4,000 in grants and added some donations. he came up with 20 to 30 citrus trees to be planted today, earth

special needs. here's abc7 news reporter david louie. >> these volunteers from intel are doing something special, at the same time they are developing new skills. >> what is that? >> it's a jigsaw. >> ever use one before? >> no. >> they have divided up into teams focusing on roof, cut out and painting and in five hours they will make a child's playhouse. the workshop is operate bid habitat for humanity, silicon valley. in aors of a year they are making over 120 playhouses for the childrens of veterans, foster kids and children with disabilities. >> nothing beats the excitement of parents coming in with their kids to peck it up. >> this playhouse will go to a child chosen by the silicon valley independent living center. a three-year-old cerebral palsy. >> the width of the doorway and the interior area ever the playhouse has to be sufficient

registering your car is usually simple but not for a marin county woman. the dmv wouldn't give her her new tags and for a whole year police kept pulling her over. 7 on your side's michael finney stepped in to help. >> elizabeth sweeney felt down right fearful every time she got behind the wheel. not for her safety but because of this. the expired registration tag on her car. >> the that wills -- the tag says 2011 and we are in 2012 so the officers will stop me. >> she's been driving around for nearly a year with expired tags, never knowing when she would get pulled over. however, she says, it's not her fault. she paid her car registration but the dmv wouldn't give her

the new tags. >> i said is there a problem? they said, yes, you have a citation and it's not been paid. and i said no, i paid that citation. >> it all began two years ago when elizabeth admits she did let her registration lapse. she was cited and she paid the fine. however, when she tried to register the car last may, the citation still showed up on her dmv record. elizabeth had to go back to the courthouse to prove she was cleared. >> and i did speak to a gentleman there, and he tells me, no, it's paid, liz, it should be fine. just wait a couple of days and it should be in the system. >> but it wasn't. so elizabeth got a copy of her court record and a letter saying she had paid the fine and took it right down to the dmv. >> and they said, no. this doesn't suffice. >> elizabeth went ahead and paid her registration but the dmv said no tags. elizabeth said she had no choice but to drive without them. >> i was very tense.

i was very tense every time i got behind the wheel. i was always, always looking in the rear view, watching. >> and every so often she would hear the siren behind her. >> oh, and i'm late for work and i have to pull over. >> elizabeth kept this envelope in her glove compartment with the court papers and her registration receipt. the cops were sympathetic, but still she was getting stopped. she also received this $279 parking ticket for expired tags. and months later her dmv record still showed that citation. >> so i was very frustrated at that point and called channel 7. >> we contacted the dnv and it looked into the case. within hours elizabeth got a call to come on down with her paperwork and after a test, she was handed the coveted orange sticker. >> i'm so incredibly relieved. >> the dmv said we are unsure why ms. sweeney's issue took so
