i'm kristen sze. highway 17 has just reopened after a woman was hit by a car. >> we have details on the chp investigation. traffic is once again moving, leaving and approaching the santa cruz mountains where we have this accident which happened overnight. we are the only ones to show this video shot moments ago. highway 17 around 3:30 this morning a woman was reportedly wandering around the road, was struck by a vehicle. she is expected to be okay. as you can imagine this woman sustained major injuries. in addition, there was ongoing construction which shutdown the other southbound lanes. both southbound lanes were closed for a period of a couple hours. again, bottom line, all of this has cleared. southbound 17 now moving. complete look at the commute in a few minutes. developing news, oakland

police on the scene of a triple shooting overnight. neighbors quick to blame a policing strategy expected to be under the microscope today. katie marzullo is live at oakland police department. >> reporter: these are preliminary reports sounds like up to three one shot in the chest, one in the leg the third has a bullet in his collarbone. the roommate says sounds like he's going to be okay. this is 98th avenue and holly street 11:00 last night. authorities found two victims. the third victim drove home. his roommate says he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, caught in the crossfire. a witness describes what he heard. >> at least 30 shots, to different guns, long rapid fire, longer than what you usually would hear.

>> reporter: police took at least two men into custody at the scene. we don't know anything about the suspects or the motive. we want to mention that same witness said that he was disappointed in the violence in his neighborhood because so many police officers have been laid off. this comes on the same day it is expected mayor quan to take back her philosophy on policing which was to inundate the more violent neighborhoods with more officers. the other neighborhoods weren't happy with that. she is going to change strategy, maybe today. katie marzullo, abc7 news. a fair field police officer is on routine administrative leave this morning while detectives investigate his involvement in the shooting death of a suspect. authorities say the officer went to a home to follow on an investigation. the 16 year veteran and the suspect began fighting in the doorway when the officer pulled his gun and shot the

51-year-old man. the suspect died at the hospital. the names have not been released. more students return to class at oikos university this morning, more than three weeks after seven students were shot to one class was held yesterday. 17 of the 22 students enrolled showed up to finish an english course. most didn't want to talk about the shooting. we did talk with with english teacher still shaken but determined to finish what they started. >> i'm still dealing with emotion, it is tough. i thought it was important i come back and show that everything is fine with me. >> students who don't want to return to oikos have been invited to attend a college in fremont where efforts are underway to accommodate them. the sheriff's office says the accused shooter has not eaten

since he was arrested, almost three weeks ago. the occupy movement is planning what they are calling major disruption at the wells fargo shareholders meeting. they want top banking executives to pay their fair share of taxes. two years ago there were only a few dozen relatively quiet demonstrators when shareholders met in january occupy protesters chained themselves to the front doors of the bank, different picture here, a dozen were arrested when they refused to move. uc berkeley is vowing to evict occupy protesters who have taken over a school-owned field in albany. occupiers say they want to turn it into a farm. the water has been turned off to the field. the yacht that crashed on to the rocks at the farallon islands this month is in half moon bay this morning. five people died on that boat

more than a week ago. crews lifted the boat in a delicate operation and flew it 28 miles yesterday. there were obstacles, rocky terrain, weather, in a few days protected birds will begin nesting. the company was paid $200,000 to do the job. people showed up at the airport to watch. >> kind of sad for the people that were lost and the families. >> you are thinking of the people caught in that. we have a lot of friends who are sailors. it is like a ghost boat in a sense. >> the yacht is now fenced in. the view blocked by a tarp. the crew declined comment saying their contract forbids them from talking about the job. >> the disappearance of a morgan hill teenager is bringing about changes in how schools handle missing student cases. the unified school district

has started notifying parents in the morning when students don't show up to school. sierra's parents weren't notified until after 6 p.m. on march 16th, long after she disappeared shortly after 7 a.m.. volunteers continue to search looking for anything that might indicate what happened to sierra. authorities believe she was abducted. the san bruno city council meets tonight to consider what to do with more than 8,000 feet of gas pipeline out of service since the 2010 natural gas explosion. residents have been pushing for the underground pipeline's removal since the explosion and fire kill eight and destroyed 38 homes. pg&e has planned to fill the pipeline with con the city council may decide on a third option. -- workers recommend moving

a few decided to stay and finish their meals. a canadian company which builds subway cars in the u.s. has won the contract to build 775 new bart train cars. they bid against a french and korean company with u.s. facters to. they differ in cost and how much of the work would be done in america. the winning bid came in at a little over 1 1/2 billion. the french company came in second the korean company wanted more money but offered americans the most work. bart says the jobs' factor didn't justify the higher price tag. a couple in pittsburg has a tale to tell after their camper snagged low-lying powerlines that landed on the camper. pg&e credits the couple with doing the right thing by staying in the camper until help arrived. >> all of a study got hit, the wire, i didn't see it.
