attacks transcend and have occurred. >> and vic we're trying to get the tape up, obviously. tell us about it. we'll go to tape when you get it this is the mission district. we're having a bit of a problem with a package we fed earlier. there has been five instances of attacks on transgender women here in the mission district. this is a concerning disturbing pattern for the district attorney. george gascone told us he's concerned. they've talked to oofsers here and are working with members of the transgender community here to help increase safety. so that is the situation. there has been an increase in attacks on transgender women.

assaults against transgender people in the past year and a half to two years, four of them fairly recent. within the past couple months. >> the transgender women leave this social service agency office late at night. he says there are most certainly more assaults citywide that go unreported. >> and with the transgender community there is a reluctance to speak to the police. so to see five cases is perhaps the tip of the iceberg. >> saying there is good reason for transgebder people to be concerned. >> it's almost expected that we're going to be silenced because we're more likely to be killed brutally than to just be hit by a car. >> and her attackers were
